Up for sale, a 1957 Magnatone Custom 213 Troubadour in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A first year example of the Troubadour model, this Custom 213 is fresh back from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with a clean bill of health. One of the cooler and less common mid-size Magna Electric-era Magnatone amps, the 213 boasts a single 12 alnico Oxford speaker and is powered by a matched pair of 6V6s, delivering 18 all tube watts. Whether you’re looking for the perfect surfy hollow twang or surprisingly thick overdrive, this Magnatone easily supplies a range of classic tube driven textures. Of course one of the main draws of any Magnatone is the true pitch vibrato, and with a width and warble unequalled in tube amp design, this vibrato circuit is in a word lush. The circuit is virtually untouched, boasting original Schumacher transformers and all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps. All of the original CTS pots are present as well, with dates from the latter half of 1957. Other date codes of note include the original Oxford 12K5 speaker which dates to the 51st week of 1957 and retains its original Magnatone foil sticker on the magnet bell. The faceplate is quite clean and complete with era correct Dakaware knobs. The original smooth brown leatherette covering is in remarkable shape, with some expected light wear around the edges and at the corners, but nothing untoward for a 60+ year old amp. The wheat grillcloth is similarly well kept, and the original Magnatone logo is present too. The back panel on the cab is not present. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely.
