Vintage Montgomery Ward / Valco Amp Head. 2 Channel, Reverb and Tremolo. 4 x 6L6s, 3 x 12AX7, and a 6V6 all of which look to be RCA. This amp is a vintage tube amp which looks to be in its original state minus the updated 3 prong cord added by one of the previous owners. Having it inspected by a amp tech is always a wise idea to insure several more years of awesome use. Both channels work and so does the reverb and tremolo. There is a hum when the amp is on and resting, w. Hich is very common for older amps. It does sound very good though when it is played and all the knobs and switches seam to work. The hum doesnt increase when adding volume or adding reverb or tremolo. All 3 lights work but the 1st one looks to be out of position and not as bright. Cabinet does have a few dings with rips in the vinyl, but solid and clean for the most part. One rubber foot is broken also. Faceplate does have some pitting from its age. Solid amp with great bones, but not in perfect condition. Please ask any and all questions and I will do my best to answer. Ridiculous but it will be packed correctly. Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Vibrasonic in excellent condition and in perfect working order, with a 100% original circuit and tube set. The flagship combo amplifier of Fender’s Pre-CBS “Brownface” era, this amp delivered 40 powerful, articulate all-tube watts through a single JBL D130F speaker. Along with the Showman, the Vibrasonic was the first Fender to be paired with the hi-fi tones of a JBL, and the Vibrasonic shares an identical chassis with the Showman too (albeit with two 6L6s instead of four). The Vibrasonic features Fender’s unique “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit, and this complex design was Fender’s only true pitch shifting vibrato offered in an amp. Swampy, thick, and very Leslie-esque, it’s a three dimensional, full-bodied tone unlike any other Fender vibrato. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Vibrasonic has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. The 6G13 circuit offers EQ controls that have a very wide sweep for everything from classic hollow twang to warm, sweet sounds that will delight any Jazz player. Given the JBL D130F speaker, there’s plenty of clean headroom on tap, but once you get above 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into raucous, touch-sensitive overdrive. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile amp that pairs well with just about anything from the era! The circuit is completely original with stock Schumacher transformers that date to late’61, and the circuit is bone stock, with all of the original blue molded Ajax and yellow Astron tone capacitors which are extremely musical sounding and a crucial part of the magic in Fender’s Pre-CBS preamps. The complete set of original Astron filter caps are also intact and still functioning as intended, and the original gray two-prong power cable is intact too. Inside the cabinet, the “LC” stamp on the tube chart conclusively dates production to March of 1962. In terms of the all original tube compliment, this amp features a pair of General Electric 6L6s, as well as a preamp tube set of matching Amperex and General Electric valves. The speaker is an original JBL D130F with a near mint frame and original cone and 21057 cone code. The original harness is intact with cloth wire and a plain metal cap on the 1/4 jack. Cosmetically, this Vibrasonic is a clean example that would look great in a studio. The original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth are present and both the faceplate and backplate are in remarkably clean condition. The original flat Fender logo, brown barrel knobs, and nickel corners are present. The molded plastic “dogbone” handle is a modern replacement. The underside of the cabinet had at one time been fitted with casters which have been subsequently removed, and there are a few light scuffs on the edges of the enclosure. This Vibrasonic is very clean and original, with an untouched circuit, complete vintage tube set, and the stock one-button vibrato footswitch. Cool vintage tube amp. Warm tone opposed to most Gibson Falcons you hear. Tone sucking components were removed. Gibson logo is chipped off partially. Cabinet is made out of redwood. The faceplate is rusted a lot, but all text and images are readable. On/Off switch and pilot light have been replaced. Speaker is a Jensen C12RC (original is Jensen C12R). Three prong power cord. Output Bias tremolo and reverb are amazing. Like fender brownface tremolo and blackface reverb put together. Takes pedals well, and breaks up around 7 or 8. Another Krazy item from Slappys Vintage. 1965 Fender Vibro Champ. Rare – in great shape. Speaker changed – not original. Power cable is Not original (very long grounded). Missing upper back panel. No other modification – inside chassis parts are all original – see pictures. Even the Caps (which will eventually need to be changed). Transformer codes 606-5-40, 606-5-18. Chasis stamp A 061xx. Tube chart Date stamp OJ – October 1965. Ink stamp on chassis TA4165. RCA power and preamp tubes – look older but may have been replaced at some point. Great shape for 50+ years old – Chassis is clean. Tolex is in very good shape – some age and marks. Powers on and working good. Speaker in it is torn so I tested it through extension cabinet – sounds good and functions and tremolo working well. Please see all pictures for condition – faceplate is really nice as seen.
