Up for sale, a 1978 Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master tube amplifier head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Fully serviced and very original, this head drives a matched pair of EL34 power tubes, generating an ample 45 watts. Made in Canada and fully hand-wired with giant Hammond transformers, this amp has significant clean headroom and passes a ton of low end. Known as the poor mans Marshall, the circuit can be easily modified to that of a classic 4-input design, yet in its stock configuration the YBA-1 can already harness that rich Tweed-meets-U. Blend which is this Traynor’s sonic signature. With Volume controls for each channel as well as a global three-band EQ and presence control, this amp can be used to power a variety of different instruments (such as a bevy of vintage keyboards) or simply a single guitar or bass, providing a bold, clean power amp that works well with effects pedals. This Traynor has abundant low end response, and the large transformers keep the sound tight and full. This YBA-1 has a very original circuit, with the pair of original Hammond transformers and a preamp that has both a bevy of mustard caps in the signal path as well as all metal film resistors for an optimal noise floor. The power supply has been completely recapped to ensure optimal performance. The amp is currently loaded with a trio of Tung Sol 12AX7 preamp tubes as well as a matched pair of Mesa-branded EL34 power tubes. The faceplate retains all of its original knobs, and virtually all of the original silkscreen text is present too. Smooth black tolex and black grill cloth is framed by aluminum banded bumpers on either side of the head, and the original raised logo is present too. This Traynor lives up to the company’s reputation of delivering sturdy workhorse amps that perform reliably on stage and in studio situations. This vintage hand-wired Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master is a true sleeper that has been well played, but remains in top-notch performance condition. Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab excellent condition and in perfect working order. This vintage Blackface Fender amp features a well-maintained and very original circuit, with stock transformers and a fresh recap of the power supply. The AB165 circuit delivers clarity, warmth, and headroom, and this Bassman excels at sweet and articulate Fender clean tones with the distinctive punch of the accompanying 2×12 closed-back cabinet design. Once you reach about 5 on the volume dial, the circuit starts to overdrive smoothly and compress a bit, for a raw, thick sound that’s perfect for guitar or bass. It’s a simple and pure vintage Fender “piggyback” head and cab setup that provides a perfect platform for effect pedals, and is ready for stage and studio use. The AB165 circuit retains all of the original Schumacher transformers which date to late’66. The stock CTS pots date to early 1966 as well, while the chassis stamp puts the amp’s manufacture at early’67. The preamp retains the full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, as well as a few new smaller bypass and bias caps to ensure optimal operation. The power amp has also been professionally recapped with top-tier F&T capacitors, and the power cable changed to a modern three-prong. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present with a “QD” date stamp which translates to April of 1967. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of vintage Fender-branded 12 drivers including one Oxford and one Utah made speaker with nearly identical black frames and original blue foil Fender labels on the ceramic magnets. The speakers deliver a bold and smooth sound with ideal punch and top end detail without being overly bright. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth on both the head and speaker cabinet. There are some expected small scuffs and nicks on the edges of the enclosures, but no serious wear of any kind, and this amp would look great in a studio collection. All of the original hardware is present, including the tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handles, sphinx glides (feet), and Fender logos. The faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. There’s a bit of localized patina and light surface rust on the tilt-back legs and bottom corners of the cabinet, but that’s about the extent of any wear. This Bassman is clean, complete, and works exactly as intended for delivering powerful Fender cleans and thick overdriven textures. Up for sale, a 1969 Ampeg B-15N Portaflex tube amp in good working order, complete with the original trolley and full vintage tube set. The B-15N is one of the most recorded and highly regarded tube bass amp circuits of all time, and this classic four-input vintage model delivers the goods through the original 15 Eminence ceramic magnet speaker. Manufactured in the USA by Ampeg at their Linden, NJ factory and just given a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, the amp is powered by a matched pair of properly biased Phillips 6L6GC power tubes. Notable for the addition of Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo rocker switches for each channel not found on earlier iterations, this B-15N has surprising output given its modest power and excels at a dynamic and detailed tone that can be extremely warm, or distinct and bright. Paired with a Precision Bass, it’s the perfect recipe for Motown thump. The original transformers are both present, and the preamp is virtually untouched, with original CTS pots that date to mid-1969. Along with the Phillips 6L6 power tubs, the amp features a trio of original Ampeg-branded octal preamp tubes and a vintage 5AR4 rectifier. A new three-prong power cable has been installed. The stock Eminence speaker has a clean frame and date code from the 24th week of 1969. The cabinet retains the original smooth black tolex, while the baffle has been professionally regrilled with black and silver cloth that closely matches vintage spec and is fitted with the original large metal Ampeg badge. The faceplate retains virtually all of the original blue pinstriping. Wear on the cabinet includes minor scuffs and edge wear, with wear through the tolex on the back two top corners and a couple isolated additional spots. As the photos show, this B-15N would look great in a studio. The original screw-on trolley is included. This compressor came from a California engineer who is in the process of downsizing his massive collection. He had removed it from a local station approximately 20 years ago. Since then, it’s sat in his radio room as a display piece. From what we can tell, it’s complete and all original. It’s a little dirty from years of being stored in an open-air rack, but should clean up well! The unit will have to be recapped before it can be used, and other components (resistors, etc) may need replacement as well. Also, we cannot guarantee the life of the tubes as we have not tested them. The tubes will be removed and boxed to ensure they reach you in good condition. Pair of Vintage Marantz Model 9 Original Mono Tube Power Amplifiers. Recently tested by an audiophile and found to be in fully working condition. A few tubes were replaced with vintage Mullard and Amperex tested tubes. One of the amps has some static when adjusting the volume which should be fixable with de-oxit. They are plug-and play ready although they have likely not been serviced in over a decade. They have scratches, stains and other cosmetic wear as expected. One is missing a foot. They are missing the Marantz covers on the front. They have much wear on the cages as shown. All of the parts are original accept of course for the tubes. The serial numbers are 1968 & 1970.
