Up for sale, a 1972 Marshall JMP Tremolo 50 model 1987T in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with footswitch. One of the last point-to-point turret board 50 watt Marshalls in the small head box, this Tremolo 50 is outfitted with a matched pair of EL34 power tubes and delivers rich, textured British drive as only a Marshall can. There’s plenty of clean bite and headroom before pushing into sizzling overdrive, and the Tremolo 50 makes good on the promise of its model name with an additional 12AX7 preamp tube not found on your run-of-the-mill 50 watt, with Speed and Intensity controls to govern the chop and throb of the tremolo circuit. The circuit is very original and thoroughly serviced, with a bevy of vintage mustard tone caps in the preamp on the turret board, one of the last before Marshall switched to PCBs in’73. The original Drake transformers are intact, and the preamp and power supply has been recapped as needed to ensure optimal performance. The inspection tag on the chassis is dated 21-4-72. Both the original metal faceplate and back plate are intact, with all original knobs present and the tell-tale Polarity switch on the faceplate seen on Marshalls imported to the USA. This feature was phased out in the mid-70s and this switch is no longer active, given the modern three-prong power cable. The faceplate graphics are clean, and the head retains its original raised small Marshall badge and gold piping. The original handle is present too and the stock black tolex shows only light wear from the past nearly 50 years. A vintage metal wedge footswitch of the appropriate size and shape is included to engage the tremolo, fitted with a modern cable which has the correct four-pin input. Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Deluxe tube amplifier in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured in the beginning of the brief Brownface era, this amp has a very original 6G3 circuit, only serviced as needed for optimal performance. Providing a perfect middle ground between the warmth and dynamic range of the Tweed amps that preceded it and the clarity and chime of the Blackface amps that would be introduced a couple years later, this Deluxe offers everything from rich and mellow tonalities to twangy and crystalline bite at the turn of a knob. The bias based tremolo circuit is deep and throbbing, with a very smooth waveform and a tone that has an almost three-dimensional quality. It’s truly one of the best examples of this classic Fender effect! The circuit features the original Schumacher output transformer which dates back to the 49th week of 1960, while the power transformer is a USA-made boutique Mercury Tone Clone drop in transformer, faithfully replicating the original. The chassis itself is remarkably clean with limited oxidation and general wear. The Stackpole pots are all intact and the preamp features the full compliment of original blue molded Ajax tone caps. The original bypass caps in the preamp and larger filter caps have been replaced with modern Spragues, and the new caps have been neatly sleeved in their original Astron brown wrappers. The tube compliment includes a vintage pair of matched General Electric 6V6 power tubes, with an Amperex 5AR4 rectifier and a combination of vintage and modern valves in the preamp. The stock Oxford 12K5 speaker is intact with a minty frame and date code from the 4th week of 1962, also retaining the exceedingly rare brown metal bell cover for the magnet and Fender foil sticker. The speaker has also just been professionally reconed. Inside the cab, the original tube chart is fully intact too, with an “LE” date stamp that translates to May of 1962. Cosmetically, this amp is remarkably clean, with original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth. The original chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also intact, and the faceplate is positively gleaming, retaining its full compliment of brown barrel knobs.
