1967 Fender Super Reverb Blackface Vintage Tube Amp 4x10 CTS Alnico, Serviced

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Super Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The amp features its original quad of alnico 10 CTS speakers, pushing 40 watts of pure Fender Blackface clean tone via a pair of 6L6 power tubes. Perfect for gigging situations and an ideal recording amplifier, the amp provides pristine, muscly Fender cleans until you hit the 4-5 range on the volume dial, where a bit of tube and speaker breakup sends the amp into smooth overdrive. The Reverb is lush and deep, and the Tremolo has a nice pulse, with everything from swampy and slow to machine gun fast pulses. The circuit boasts a well-maintained preamp, retaining all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps central to the smooth, musical character of Fender’s Blackface amps. All of the original CTS pots are intact, with visible date codes from’66, and the preamp is untouched save for a few small electrolytic caps. The power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong for safety’s sake, and the power supply features fresh high quality Sprague Atom filter caps. The amp features a pair of matched Sovtek 5881 (6L6) power tubes, along with a Groove Tubes 5U4 rectifier and a combination of modern and vintage valves in the preamp. The chassis itself is very clean, as is the original faceplate and stock witch hat knobs. The original quartet of CTS alnico speakers are intact, all with clean frames and original blue foil Fender stickers on the magnets. The original speaker harness is present, as is the tube chart which has a QH date stamp, translating to August of 1967. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are in remarkable shape, with only very minor wear around the edges of the cabinet and one small snag on the grillcloth near the lower edge of the baffle. The original nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), chassis straps, chrome pat. Pending tilt-back legs, and raised “Fender” logo are present, and all hardware is in excellent shape. This well-maintained and cosmetically clean vintage Super Reverb has been serviced to sound its best and run reliably for years to come, with modern power tubes and a clean bill of health. Vintage 1960s Hand Wired Tube Guitar Amp Head Akai Conversion like Fender, Vox, Ampeg. Excellent condition, no issues. Listen to samples of the clean and overdrive sounds these amps can produce with P90, Strat, and humbucking pickups at: (Its a friend, not me playing). The Sammies from Charlotte, NC performing a cover of Gang Of Four’s “To Hell With Poverty” in the studio for the virtual benefit show “Love Thy Neighbor: A Tribute to Benefit Roof Above”. The guitarist on the right, with the darker Strat, is playing through one of these amps in this video. This amp was designed and constructed using the basic foundation of a 1960s (Akai M8) Roberts 770X tube reel to reel tape recorder. The amplifier circuitry has been optimized to specifically serve as a guitar amp rather than as hi-fi equipment. Where practical the original vintage components, including the tubes, have been kept. All filter and bypass capacitors have recently been replaced and a 3 prong power cord added. The amp is in excellent operating condition and looks almost new. There are 2 instruments inputs which share the common volume and tone controls. The 2 inputs however employ separate, and different, input stage tubes and therefore sound very different. The first input uses an EF86 (6267) tube. These tubes were used in 1960s vintage VOX amps, and are still used in some Dr. Z, Matchless, and other boutique amplifiers. The 2nd input uses a 12AX7 (12AD7) tube. 12AX7s are the most common preamp tubes used in guitar amplifiers such as Fender, Mesa Boogie, and Marshall. All of the tubes included are the original vintage 1960s tubes. This amp is very quiet (background noise and hum) and breaks up nicely at reasonable volume levels. The tone circuit uses a modified passive Baxandall/James circuit (Bass and Treble controls) similar to the type of tone stacks used in the original Ampeg, Orange, and some Dr. Additionally, a boost switch increases the gain and frequency response of the amp providing additional tonal flexibility. The output stage is a single-ended class A power amp. This amp uses an EL84 (6BQ5). Single-ended class A amps were used in many lower power 1950s-60s Fender Tweed and Blackface amps and in Vox’s AC-4, which also used the EL84 tube. The amp uses a 6X4 tube rectifier. For reference, the Layla album was recorded with both Clapton and Allman playing single-ended Class A, 5 watt Fender Champ amplifiers. This amp is great for rehearsal, small venue use, and especially studio recording. The cabinet was custom designed and constructed for this amp. The amp comes with the decorative vent grill which can be removed exposing the glowing tubes, which looks very cool. A schematic diagram will be provided for future reference. The item “Vintage 1960s Hand Wired Akai M8 Tube Guitar Amp Conversion Fender, Vox, Ampeg” is in sale since Monday, January 18, 2021. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Guitars & Basses\Guitar Amplifiers”. The seller is “biznen151″ and is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. 1968 Fender Princeton Reverb Drip Edge Vintage Tube Amp with Blackface Circuit

Up for sale, a 1968 Fender Princeton Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original footswitch. A transitional “drip edge/black line” example, this amp features a set of unique cosmetic cues including a small tail-less Fender logo, aluminum trim framing the grillcloth, and thin vertical black lines on the early Silverface faceplate, denoting a Princeton Reverb which retains the same circuitry and components as its Blackface era predecessor. Freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, the Princeton Reverb is the perfect amplifier for small club gigs and studio sessions. This classic Fender AA764 Blackface circuit delivers both well-balanced, sparkling cleans and smooth, harmonic-rich overdrive when you dime it out. The Reverb is extremely lush and the Tremolo has a nice pulse with a wide range of speeds. The circuit retains the original pair of transformers manufactured for Fender by Better Coil & Transformer, dating between late 1967 and the first weeks of’68. The preamp boasts most of the famed blue molded Ajax tone caps (an essential part of the Blackface sound), along with a few replacement caps, smaller top shelf Sprague electrolytics, and low-noise metal film resistors. The larger multi-section can cap in the power supply has also been recently replaced to ensure trouble-free performance, and the power cable has been upgraded to the modern three-prong variety. All of the original pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 2nd week of’68. The tubes consist of a matched pair of JJ 6V6s with an JJ GZ34 rectifier and a bevy of modern and vintage valves in the preamp. The speaker is the original Oxford 10J4 with a black frame and blue foil Fender label on the magnet. The speaker retains the original speaker harness as well, complete with the original speaker jack with Fender “F” cap. The tube chart is mostly intact and quite aged, with some tape on the edges. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe are intact, with a few bald corners on the otherwise very clean tolex, and light, uniform aging of the grill. The original faceplate shows a speckling of light wear with a full compliment of witch hat knobs, and the hardware includes original chassis straps, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and small raised Fender tail-less logo. This vintage Princeton Reverb works exactly as it should, sounds great, and is ready for another 50 years of use. The amp comes complete with the original black two-button footswitch to engage the Reverb and Vibrato effects. Good condition and fully functional circa mid-1960s Harmony H400A tube amp made in the USA. 3 inputs and controls for on/volume and tone. This is a great option for both cleans and some broken up crunch when cranked up. Output I believe is 8 watts using 3 tubes that I understand to be original (35w4, 12au6 and 50c5) and 1 x 8 Jensen Special Design speaker (looks original). This runs with a slight hum and has the original 2-prong cord (use at your own risk, should be replaced with a modern 3-prong cord). I have tried to describe this as accurately as possible. The item “Harmony H400A Vintage tube amp” is in sale since Thursday, January 14, 2021. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Vintage Musical Instruments\Vintage Guitars & Basses\Guitar Amplifiers”. The seller is “nhguitars” and is located in Windham, New Hampshire.
