This is a nice Drake L7 amplifier. It’s in fair cosmetic condition and from a smoke-free home, but certainly isn’t going to win any beauty contests. One knob is missing the metal inlay. Also, the aluminum trim has some sort of brown residue on it. It’s on there pretty good but may come off with the right chemical. Aside from that, it’s the small scuffs/scratches you’d expect from equipment this old. I would note that the power supply is pretty dirty/dusty inside and would benefit from being blown out with an air compressor. The amp itself is clean inside. It’s currently wired for 120VAC and has two Eimac tubes installed. We see no sign of modification and all components appear original. The amplifier runs well. For CW, plate voltage sits at 2100VDC with no load. Keyed-down with 60 watts, we got 600 watts out. For SSB, plate voltage sits at 3000VDC with no load. Ensure this amp will meet your needs, and just as important, be sure you’re comfortable operating it. I’ll say it one more time…. Read the manual before purchasing and operating the amplifier. I can take the tubes out if you like, but I would personally recommend leaving them in. They are tight in the socket and are not going to come out. But, as I said, it’s your call and I’ll do whatever you prefer. Lastly, Please note that the plate meter isn’t operational. Also, I would encourage you to replace the power supply’s capacitors before putting the amplifier into service. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to give the RF deck a going-though as well and replacing some of it’s components. As I mentioned above, all components look original and probably 40 years old. If you expect 40 year old capacitors to hold up well for much longer, you’re going to be disappointed sooner than later. If you need to hire someone to do this for you, I can get you in touch with a qualified technician. If you prefer one carrier over the other, please make that request when paying for the item. Rest assured, you’ll receive your item in excellent condition! WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE SALE: You will only receive what is shown in the photographs. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender Blackface models for its ideal size and power, performing well both on stage and in the studio with shimmering Fender cleans and smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive when you push the amp towards 10 on the volume dial. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has smooth attack and tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube Reverb and punchy Tremolo. The preamp is 100% original, save for a new bias cap to regulate the power tubes, retaining a full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient in the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Blackface circuits. All of the original transformers are intact, manufactured by Schumacher (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the’60s) and dating to 1965. All of the original CTS pots are intact too, with visible date codes from’65, matching the chassis stamp. The power supply has been professionally recapped with Sprague Atoms. The Jensen 10 speakers are a matched pair of vintage drivers with clean black frames and foil stickers on the ceramic magnets, factory spec for this model yet dating to’66. These speakers are the perfect pairing for the Vibrolux circuit, offering Jense’s hi-fi clarity and articulation. The tube chart is intact, with a faded “OE” date stamp which translates to May of 1966. The pair of brand new Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tubes are optimally biased, with a vintage RCA 5AR4 rectifier and an array of modern and vintage preamp tubes from the likes of Amperex and General Electric. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, with sparingly little tolex wear and uniform aging of the grillcloth. The hardware includes the full compliment of witch hat knobs (with a couple vintage substitutes), raised Fender logo, handle caps, chassis straps, corners, and sphinx glides (feet).
