1961 Gibson GA-8 Discoverer Vintage Tube Amp Combo Guitar Amplifier

1961 Gibson GA-8 Discoverer combo guitar amplifier. This vintage amp is in perfect working condition with zero issues and it sounds glorious, extremely similar in sound to a Tweed Fender 5F1 Champ but louder due to its dual parallel 6V6 tubes. These amps are very sought after for its Tweed Champ tone but at more usable gigging volumes. It has been very well cared for its entire life. It is all original with the exception of the 3-prong ground power cord, three capacitors, and a 2009 Jensen C12Q speaker. The original burgundy wine tolex looks great with only a couple tears, largest of which is on the front right top corner. The top control plate has some wear but the majority of the lettering is visible as shown in the pictures. The handle works great. The item “1961 Gibson GA-8 Discoverer Vintage Tube Amp Combo Guitar Amplifier” is in sale since Saturday, March 7, 2020. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Guitars & Basses\Guitar Amplifiers”. The seller is “holyheckmusic” and is located in Sonoma, California. Up for sale, a 1962 Gibson GA77 RVT Vanguard 1×15 tube amp in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Freshly serviced and extremely original and well-kept, this amp is in many ways Gibson’s equivalent of Fender’s Vibroverb. A two-channel affair with a freshly biased pair of 6L6 power tubes and 15 Jensen C15N driver, this Gibson offers smooth, robust clean tones with both warmth and sparkling top end clarity. Pushing the amp hard at higher volumes delivers a touch of compression and cascades into overdrive, with plenty of ambient splash provided by the spring reverb on Channel Two. The second channel also features a two-knob tremolo with a strong pulse. The trio of original transformers and choke are intact, manufactured by Triwec and Magnetic Components Inc, all dating to 1962. The circuit is hand-wired on a tag board, and the circuit has been fully recapped to ensure optimal functionality and tone. The original pots are intact, along with the full compliment of black reflector caps with red pointers, and the aluminum faceplate retains all of its original silkscreen text. The tube compliment includes a brand new pair of properly biased 6L6 JJ power tubes as well as a host of vintage preamp tubes, many of which are the stock Gibson-branded valves. The speaker is the original Jensen C15N with a clean silver frame, Jensen foil sticker on the magnet cover, and date stamp on the edge of the frame from the 47th week of 1961. The amp retains its original smooth brown tolex and oxblood grillcloth with aluminum trim. The raised plastic Gibson badge is fully intact on the amp’s face, and the stock handle is present too. There’s only light wear on the tolex, primarily on the bottom edge of the cabinet. The original two-button footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. This is the more rare and desirable single tone control version from the early 1940s. There are a couple of extra holes in the head from some previous modifying. The cabinet has some wear but it is an i. It was rebuilt at Amphole and the field coil speaker was rebuilt at Orange County Speaker. It really drives nicely and is easy to control with the volume knobs on your guitar. The item “GIBSON EH-185 1940′s Vintage Tube Guitar Amp Rare One Tone Knob Vers. Gibson EH-100 19401941 Vintage Tube Pre-War Amplifier Amp Combo 80y. Not perfect, check out the pics. They show it all. From the birth of amplified guitar. I think the condition is remarkable considering it’s age. This amp is a surviving piece of electric guitar history. Tube layout in pic. Last variation of the EH-100 before the war. This model cabinet has a separate amp and 10 field coil speaker box [latches together on the sides]. Dimension is 15″x12″x8 when stacked. Speaker box can be rotated around and latched to the amp base for controls on the front or even moved a foot or so away. This example has retained it’s original brown fabric covering and original handle. Gibson logo is very nice. Note pictures for condition. A few nicks and such in cabinet covering and amp chassis. This amp has 2 instrument inputs and one mic input. The volume knob controls the mic input only. The mic input has more gain and is preferred for guitar, eh? Gives guitar some attack and growl. This mic input sound is very desirable on the vintage tube amps of this era. Has been tuned up 10 years ago and up-dated with 3-prong plug for safety. Has been in storage more or less since then. Recommend having it checked by amp tech before using. Tubes are finicky compared to solid state. But the tone of vintage pre-war tube amps is unique. It’s 80 years old. Let me say this again, it’s 80 years old. When you judge it’s condition, please remember that. This amp was always cared for and shows no abuse. Never left in a wet garage or basement. It is ready to play or be displayed in a collection or museum. To be honest, I don’t know really what the market value of this amp is. I have looked at other images of this amp on Google, and this one, is by far the best looking. You be the judge. If I’ve put too high a price on it, let me know and give me your best offer. This amp needs a new home. So make your offer. The item “Gibson EH-100 19401941 Vintage Tube Pre-War Amplifier Amp Combo 80y. O Survivor” is in sale since Friday, May 22, 2020. Up for sale we have a preowned Gibson GA-6 Vintage Tube Amp. It comes as picture and was just fully serviced. It has your vintage wear and tear. The amp has been recovered. When my amp tech got on the inside of the amp he stated that it had not been touched but needed a cap job. So he did a cap job and placed a new power chord on it for safety. I will include a copy of the service job also. The amp plays and sounds great, so much so that my amp tech is thinking about trading me his vintage Gibson Vanguard amp for it. Super 60′s sounding. A tech recently went through it, and replaced all the caps. It’s all original, along with the original 1961 Jensen speaker in it. Some of the tubes may not be original though, due to age. It also has the original built in foot switch. The power cable looks to be original. The tremolo is working well. The only issue that I know of, is that you go to use the foot switch to turn the tremolo off, the tremolo doesn’t go all the way off, it just lowers the tremolo effect. So you have to turn the depth knob all the way off if you don’t want the tremolo effect. Showing it’s age. Control panel has rust, wear on corners, and a few cigarette burns. But hey, that’s rock’n’roll! It’s working great. The item “Gibson GA-8T Discoverer Tremolo 1961 Vintage Tube Amp Guitar Amplifier withJensen” is in sale since Thursday, November 7, 2019. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Vintage Musical Instruments\Vintage Guitars & Basses\Guitar Amplifiers”. The seller is “10-jack” and is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 1959 Gibson Skylark GA-5 Vintage Tube Amplifier Combo, Blonde 1x8 5W

Up for sale, a 1959 Gibson Skylark GA-5 tube combo amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The first GA-5 iteration was introduced in 1954, quickly becoming one Gibsons most popular amp models. In 1957 the Skylark moniker was added to the line, maintaining the blonde tolex and a single volume knob, but transitioning away from the TV-style cabinet of its predecessor to a sharper aesthetic and larger brown grillcloth. This little Class A wonder pumps out a modest five watts of pure tube goodness through a single 8 speaker. From mostly clean, crisp tones low on the volume dial, to sizzling overdrive when you dime it out, this amp is at home in a studio and sounds great with a microphone in front of it. Dynamic and sweet with the original alnico 8 speaker, this Skylark responds well to a variety of pickups. The point-to-point wired circuit is very original, with transformer codes that date to 1959 and a Centralab pot that dates to the 5th week of’59. The preamp features new capacitors as necessary, with top quality Sprague components used throughout. The tubes consist of a vintage General Electric rectifier and Raytheon EL84 power tube, along with a Sovtek 12AX7 in the preamp. The speaker is a vintage alnico replacement with a clean gold frame and original cone that offers a smooth and even response. The cabinet sports its original blonde tolex and brown grillcloth, which retains its original small raised “Gibson” badge. Even the stock leather handle and small rubber feet are intact, and the faceplate retains its singular chicken head knob. Scuffs and light wear can be seen on the exterior of the cabinet, with light wear through the silkscreening on the face of the amp as well, but as the photos show, this is a presentable and fully serviced vintage Skylark. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Cool vintage tube amp. Warm tone opposed to most Gibson Falcons you hear. Tone sucking components were removed. Gibson logo is chipped off partially. Cabinet is made out of redwood. The faceplate is rusted a lot, but all text and images are readable. On/Off switch and pilot light have been replaced. Speaker is a Jensen C12RC (original is Jensen C12R). Three prong power cord. Output Bias tremolo and reverb are amazing. Like fender brownface tremolo and blackface reverb put together. Takes pedals well, and breaks up around 7 or 8.
