NEW Dynaco 70 / Dynakit Stereo 70 – 6GH8A TUBE VERSION. This Listing is for. Custom Built by Funtastic Vintronics. Turnaround time is 3 weeks or less. These are brand new amps – 100% – not a rebuild or a restoration – read the details. Enjoy the rich smooth tones of analog audio and even order harmonics that only vacuum tube amplification can produce. It reveals musical qualities with fantastic realism and depth you may have never imagined possible. The legendary original design up to date with highly improved levels of sound quality, looks and performance. Because of the ST-70′s naturally high impedance (470K) it is compatible with virtually any solid state or tube preamp. This amplifier puts out 70 watts total, 35 watts per channel. It is fairly safe to say that most people today would have no idea of how wonderful a Stereo 70 amplifier is capable of sounding like. “Original condition” amps or those “updated” or having any number of “modifications” from mild to wild can still leave a lot to be desired. “Restored” is more than popping in a few capacitors and some tubes. Much more will need to be done to fully bring about that great sound the amp once had. Although they will play music, they are still incapable of reproducing the sound quality they possessed when new, 50 years ago unless they are fully restored. Resistors become noisy and drift out of tolerance due to age and heat. Circuit board and component materials begin to deteriorate causing signal degradation, solder joints and tube sockets can be loose, oxidized, worn and have poor quality connections causing signal interference and noise. Capacitors lose their range and clarity, their values having changed with time. Hiss, buzz, hum, pop and fuzziness are not normal or desirable qualities. Isn’t the great smooth sound of a time long gone by what you’re really after, those sweet tones produced only from tube amplification? Like a musical time machine, this amplifier will take you back to the beginning, like when these amps were new. But there’s even more to consider here. All of the components used in this amplifier have greatly improved characteristics over the ones available and used 50 years ago. That makes the sound quality of this amp even better than one would have been then, as a new one 50 years ago. Take a good close look at this one. Don’t cheat yourself out of what you’re really wanting; superb sound, high build quality, safe and reliable operation, great looks and that comforting pride of ownership. Mundorf MCap ZN Capacitors – 600v – 5% – Values are increased to. 1uf for Improved Bass Response. PRP Audio Grade Resistors – High Resolution – 500v Rated – 1% Accuracy – Ultra Low Noise. 70 Watts Total Output – 35 Watts Per Channel – Pure Real Analog Power. Genuine Dynakit PC-3 “B” Circuit Board – Made Specifically for 6GH8A Driver Tubes – No tube Adapters here. Includes (2) tightly test matched Vintage NOS 6GH8A by RCA, GE (as per availability). Includes (4) New EL34 / 6CA7 NessTone Output Tubes – Plate Current Matched – Amazing Sound. Includes (1) New 5AR4 / GZ34 Rectifier Tube – Groove Tubes Label – Soft Start – High Current Capability. Bias Circuit uses 100uf Capacitors with Flameproof Metal Oxide Resistors. Dynakit PA-060 Power Transformer (120v Windings) – Notice its Size, the Increased Lamination Stack! Dynakit A-470 Output Transformers – (4,8,16 Ohm Taps) – Grain Oriented Laminations – Interleave Wound. Dynakit C-354 Shielded Power Supply Filter Choke – (1.75 Henries, 62 Ohms, 10%) – No More Nasty Leaks. 9 Brand New High Quality Tube Sockets. 600v & 1000v Wiring Used Throughout the Entire Amp. Genuine Dynakit Multi Section Filter Capacitor – Factory Correct Values 80/40/30/20uf – 525v Rated. New Dynakit Stainless Steel Mirror Finish Chassis (Non-Magnetic) – Beautiful Museum Quality Look. Brand New Dynakit Perforated Steel Cover w/ matching badge. Power Supply has Diode Rectification – No Scary Old Outdated Selenium Rectifier Here! Flashback Prevention Safety Diodes Installed at the Rectifier Tube. Additional shielding on under chassis components to reduce EMI / interference. Careful wire routing to reduce movement & electromagnetic signal interference (EMI). Assembled With Alpha Fry 60/40 rosin core solder – for the Very Best Quality Connections. Power Transformer Isolation Bushings Installed – Prevents the Transfer of Mechanical Hum to the Chassis. Custom Silver RCA Input Jacks – Wider Spacing for Larger Modern Input Cables. Original Screw Style Speaker Output Terminals – Vintage Correct – Full Function (4,8,16 Ohm + Common/Ground). Heavy Duty Rubber Feet with Steel Bushings. Assembled with Great Attention to Detail Using High Quality Parts – 48 hr Minimum Burn in Tested – Sounds Incredible. Operates From a Standard Wall Outlet – No Voltage Reducer or Variac Needed – Built for Today’s 120v+ Voltages. Arrives With Bias Preset. Just Install the Tubes – Simple To Do – Instructions are Included. Front Preamp Sockets are Wired for Bias Set Only – Reduces Audio Signal Interference. The photos seen here are of several different amplifiers, meant to provide an example of the units. Yours will look like the ones in these photos. Vintage Vibe – Modern Reliability – The Beautiful Sound of Tubes. So how does it sound? Magical – very musical with a highly detailed voice and plenty of solid, clean wonderful bass. This amp is absolutely dead quiet – no hum, no buzz, no hiss, no snap-crackle-pop! It sounds like it is supposed to. If you’re in search of that golden age of audio sound with stunning vintage looks, you’ve just found it. This is your bad boy. This is a 100% brand new amp, a very high quality build, total listening satisfaction. This ST-70 delivers dramatically improved sonics as the result of being carefully and thoughtfully built, all new, from the ground up, with technologically advanced components and all high-end parts. Is used with only a couple of re-engineered elements on the PCB traces to accommodate the 6GH8A tubes without having to use an adapter. Pay particular attention to the size (height) of the power transformer on this amp (the middle one). Transformers are the heart and soul of a tube amp, period. Dynaco wasn’t messing around when they designed and built their originals. Notice how tall this new transformer is compared to the original Dynaco PA060 power transformer. This is a real case of bigger is better. These new Dynakit transformers were reverse engineered from the original Dynaco designs using modern technologies and insulations. An increased lamination stack on this power transformer allows it to run cooler and provide better regulation. These transformers wont buzz or hum like the originals often do either. A major factor to consider here too is that the original transformers were designed to run from yesterday’s 117 Volt household current. Today’s household current is often 125 Volts or more so the use of a “step down” or “bucking” transformer is necessary to retard the voltage down to a safe operating level for amps having the original transformers. The new transformers are made for today’s higher household currents or VAC (Voltage). These transformers can be operated directly from your household outlets without secondary devices needed to reduce the voltage. These are USA made transformers that meet and exceed every aspect of the originals. If there were some sort of “magic” in the use of cloth leads, Dynakit would have certainly insisted on using them again. There’s simply no magic in cloth covered lead wire, period, it is inferior. In any comparison, these new transformers are just better than those old originals. Modern advancements in materials, methods and technologies used in the production of these transformers has resulted in superb transformers that operate quieter and cooler than the originals while providing less distortion, more power with increased reliability. The new A470 output transformers are also greatly improved, like the power transformer. The output transformers are interleaved/layer-wound and incorporate high quality M-6 grain oriented laminations. These also use better quality wire with better insulation, the primary is wound the same as the original A470 using the same number of turns on the same number of sections. These are made using the same patented Dynaco winding method, and made on the same core size and material type as the originals. These transformers are in one word, exceptional. I have selected the Groove Tubes 5AR4/GZ34 as the rectifier tube in my Dynaco 70′s for more than 2 years now. It has the highest current capability and has been 100% reliable, it also looks right in the amp. I believe it to be the best current production rectifier tube of its type on today’s market. Same story for the NessTone EL34/6CA7 tubes, they’re all I use now. These output tubes are hand selected and tested here in the USA and then identically matched as a quad (4 tubes) by their plate current test. Results using the ROE computerized testing system. I have had nothing but satisfied buyers and zero failures, they sound amazing. This amp also comes with 2 NOS RCA, GE or similar (as per availability) 6GH8A tubes, tested and matched. The 6GH8A like the 7199 tube is a vacuum tube combining both a pentode and triode in a single glass envelope. Each section has a separate cathode and is electrically independent, the pentode is used for the input stage, and the triode as a phase inverter. The Dynaco ST-70 Series II came from the factory with a 6GH8A driver board and tubes. According to Dynaco published research and literature the 6GH8A tube actually outperformed the 7199! I also offer this amp in a 7199 version, identical in build with the exception of the 7199 driver board and tubes. The photos show the ST-70 using the updated Dynakit PC-3 board made for 6GH8A tubes. Amplifier makers like HH Scott, Harman Kardon and Eico, among others, have used the 6GH8A since back in the late 50′s. I honestly find no audible difference in the 7199 and the 6GH8A so long as both tubes are of equal quality. Good quality tubes are essential for the overall sound quality simply because they are a part of the circuit, the circuit can only sound as good as it’s parts will allow. Good circuit design is critical, the Dynaco circuit is genius. The 6GH8A, also no longer in production, appears to be in abundant supply and is very affordable. Like all tubes, some brands and build styles offer both sonic and reliability advantages over cheaper, inferior made tubes. This amp comes with 2 NOS RCA, GE or a Mullard variant (as per availability) 6GH8A tubes, tested and matched. Contact me if you want the 7199 version, I’ll make a special listing for you. Manuals, Instructions, pictorials, diagrams, schematics and supplemental documentation are all included on a CD-Rom. Tube installation instructions with a numbered easy to follow pictorial included. Bias will be pre-set but due to variations in AC wall voltages the bias should be checked and adjusted for your specific location. Each unit is custom, a hand built, made to order unit. Your unit will look identical but wire color and routing may be slightly different from unit to unit, these are hand built units. Straightforward simple business here. The manuals, instructions, pictorials, diagrams, schematics and supplemental documentation are all included on a CD-ROM. Issues from abuse, misuse, neglect or external damages are not covered. Damage from moisture of any kind, electrical surges, lightning and static electricity are not covered. Coverage is limited to replacement of any original components which have failed under normal operating conditions. Faulty components will be replaced with no charge to you. For parts or labor. Up for sale, a 1960 Fender Super in excellent condition and in perfect working order. One of the very first Brownface-era Fender Supers off the assembly line, this exceedingly rare amp is serial number 00085, with date codes from late 1959-January of 1960. Practically prototypical with its 5G4 circuit, this amp features the centrally located Volume knobs seen on the very first Brownface amps, as well as the factory plugged “Pulse Adjust” hole on the rear panel for a feature Fender intended to include, but opted out of in pre-production after the plates had already been printed. A direct descendant of the Tweed era Super amp, this Brownface example is notable for being one of few Supers to retain the same Triad transformers which were central to Fender’s Tweed amps. An incredibly touch-sensitive and dynamic amplifier with surprising headroom, the Super boasts hi-fi clarity and sparkling, robust clean tones. Turning the amp up past 5 on the volume dial yields thick, chewy overdrive, and the EQ controls have an incredibly wide sweep. Of course this is the most compact Brownface-era amp to feature the “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit as well. A true pitch shifting vibrato (not the tremolo found on most Fender amps), the Harmonic Vibrato sound has a thick, Leslie-esque throb and warble, with a three-dimensional quality and depth that is perfectly suited to the speaker compliment and cabinet size. Whether you want a slow, undulating swampy sound or faster, pulsating vibrato, this Super delivers the goods. The circuit is extremely original, and the amp retains its original Triad power and output transformers, while the choke was made for Fender by Schumacher, dating to the 50th week of 1959. The preamp is virtually untouched save for a few new smaller electrolytics and a fresh bias cap, retaining all of the original yellow Astron capacitors which are central to the sweet, musical tonality of Fenders Tweed and early Brownface amps. All of the original Stackpole pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 40th week of’59. The tubes consist of a matched pair of Tube Amp Doctor 6L6s, along with a JJ GZ34 rectifier and a host of newer preamp tubes. The speakers are a matched pair of era-correct Oxford 10K5s, both recently reconed with long metal bell covers for the alnico magnets. Under the bell covers, the magnets retain their clean date stamps from the 43rd week of’61. The tube chart is fully intact, noting the 5G4 circuit and complete with a “JA” date stamp that translates to January of 1960. The amp has been professionally retolexed by 3 Monkeys Amplifiers with correct rough brown tolex, and the baffle has been regrilled with the correct Oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe, another holdover from the Tweed era. All hardware is stock and accounted for including the rare light brown plastic “dogbone” handle, sphinx glides (feet), and flat “Fender” logo on the amp’s face. This Super is freshly tested and serviced, and ready for stage and studio use. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1962 Ampeg B-12-X in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. An early, collector-grade example, this rare Ampeg features the Navy Random Flair tolex which preceded the blue diamond covering Ampeg used extensively in later years, complete with the original satellite speaker for the Reverb effect, as well as the original matching trolley and two-button footswitch. One of the physically larger and more complex designs in the Portaflex series, the B-12-X features both vibrato and reverb through a ported cabinet outfitted with the original Jensen 12 ceramic driver. Stocked with a host of vintage preamp tubes as well as a fresh, properly biased pair of Tung Sol small bottle 6L6 power tubes, the B-12-X delivers a tone that has warmth, clarity and the rich overdrive characteristics commonly associated with Ampeg’s best designs. The physical size of the cabinet and ported design adds extra low end fullness too, and the EQ controls have a wide, useful sweep. The vibrato (not tremolo like most amps), has a deep, warbling pulse with a swirling, Leslie-like effect that is extremely lush. The reverb utilizes the original Accutronics two-spring tank, and curiously enough, is designed to only operate via the satellite cabinet, which is included and boasts its own original oval alnico speaker. The circuit is clean and stock, with only a few minor component substitutions to keep the amp operating within original factory spec. The turret board design is true to how the amp left the factory, with original transformers and CTS pots that date to late 1961. The chassis has incredible shine with bright chrome plating and pristine white silkscreen lettering. Central to the face of the amp, a lucite, light-up “Ampeg” logo is present, secured with two new tiny screws. Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is fully intact, dating to 1962, and the original Jensen 12 speaker offers a very smooth and pleasing voice that compliments the circuit design. Cosmetically, the original Navy Random Flair covering and silver grillcloth are intact and stunningly clean. A blue textured covering with dense silver sparkles, Navy Random Flair has a subtle distinction all its own. The original chrome side handles are present, and the stock blue leather handle central to the mounting tray of the head shows wear, but still works. The original multi-pin head to cabinet cable is intact, and the six shockmounts that suspend the head above the mounting tray are all brand new components from Fliptops, ensuring no rotted out rubber and a secure connection between the head and mounting tray when transporting the amp. The matching trolley is included, and the satellite Reverb cabinet and two-button footswitch both have their own dedicated spots to secure inside the cabinet. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! It is my passion to bring you the very finest restoration I can. My quest to explore, diagnose, repair and service electronic and mechanical devices. Began when I was 7 years old. I’d get up very early, everyday in the Summer and on Saturday mornings during the school year. I’d take my Huffy bicycle. Around TV service and electronic repair store rubbish areas. I’d hit the trash cans of neighbors, industrial and retail centers, collecting interesting. Specimens of electronic chassis and motor driven gizmos, to dissect, study and organize. In my teens I built and studied projects from Heathkit and. Other schematics featured in Mechanics Illustrated, Electronics Illustrated and similar related publications. In the Navy I went to school, studied and. Worked as an Aviation Electrician repairing and servicing military aircraft. Now that I’m retired, I still love to tinker with electronic and mechanical. Several radios, record players, amplifiers, and color wheels that I will be restoring over the next several years. My goal is to make these old, vintage. Devices function like new again. They sure don’t make-em like they used to. This is a very special record player that will be packaged with care and consideration to make sure it arrives as described to its new owner. This is a VINTAGE 1969 DRIP EDGE FENDER TWIN REVERB TUBE GUITAR AMP with ORIGINAL JBL D120F SPEAKERS. IT WAS RECENTLY MODDED TO BLACKFACE SPECS. It is complete and functions properly. Controls and inputs have been cleaned, no scratchy pots. Completely serviced, everything works as it should. The cabinet covering and grill show wear. This is a solid, road worthy beast. Channel 1 controls are volume, treble, middle, bass, bright switch. Channel 2 controls are volume, bass, mid, treble, reverb, speed, intensity, bright switch. Original faceplate, knobs, footswitch, grill cloth, tolex, drip edge trim, hardware, speakers, paperwork, transformers, etc. Original power cord, but replaced plug. Made in the U. The tube chart has this as a AB763 circuit but it was actually a AC568 model, as confirmed by the schematic and my amp tech. Take note of the multi voltage selector switch on the back. The factory addition of a multi-voltage power transformer makes for a very rare model indeed. But notice the selector knob is missing. Set at (American standard) 117 volt, 60 cycle. Transformer codes are as follows… 022889 606915, 022699 606-9-12, 022746 606917. Not all the potentiometer codes are legible, but here is a list of the ones I can read… 137 6834, 137 6618, 137 6913, 137 6840, 137 6916. All the codes are correct for this vintage and components are assumed to be original. The supply cap pan has service dates… The smaller nine pin tubes include 2 made in the USA, all others are imports. It has a matched quad of Sovtek 6L6GC power tubes. The speakers are original to the amplifier. They have most likely been re-coned, as they no longer have the aluminum dust caps. Aesthetically this may be a concern for some, but audibly it is an improvement; eliminates a bit of the bright JBL sizzle and provides a slightly darker blackface tone. Deep and rich, just as it should be. The’JBL’ logo on the lower right grill is a replacement. This began life with an AC568 bias section. I have owned this amp for 8-12 years. I have many nice tube amps, but play mostly acoustic guitar. I have a friend (certified Fender & Peavey amp tech) who has serviced many of my amps over the years. When I took this amp to have serviced, he suggested I blackface this amp since it was too similar to my other. It was a great idea and although this amp sounds better than the 1970, I really do not need two Twins. I hate to see it go. IT IS AN AWESOME AMPLIFIER. Arguably the best amplifier Leo Fender ever designed. This LOUD, CLASSIC, TONE MONSTER is ready to give it’s next owner joy and pleasure. (and possible hearing loss). That is a bargain. This item is heavy and will require extra time and care to package. I never use UPS. Old electronics are scratched, worn, chipped, cracked, dirty, dusty, stained, ugly, tinkered with, missing parts, etc. The exteriors have wear that includes cuts, holes, tears, scuffs, missing stitching, missing or replaced feet and knobs. In the course of servicing over the years, they typically do not have all original components. Old electronics typically hum and have scratchy controls. As a basic test I have operated this amp for at least 4 hour recently and it did not fail, smoke, blow fuses, etc. Typically easy and inexpensive to maintain, you should be aware, old electronic require maintenance. Old electronic can fail at any time. We will work through the claim together until things are right.
