1964 Fender Vibroverb Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL 130A, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Vibroverb in excellent condition, recently serviced and loaded with a vintage JBL 130A speaker. A very original and clean example of Fender’s rarest and most desirable Blackface amp, the Vibroverb was only made in the Pre-CBS Fender era, lasting from late 1963 through’64. Best known for its association with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Vibroverb delivers 40 all-tube watts with a dual channel design and tube rectifier. The amp is loaded with a pair of vintage JAN/Phillips 6L6 power tubes, and the JBL speaker has been professionally reconed. The tone is clear and powerful, with dynamic Fender cleans that sparkle and twang. The highly efficient JBL speaker keeps the signal and tight, with very little speaker cone distortion even at high volumes, letting the light compression and velvety tube overdrive of the circuit be heard with stunning clarity when you push the amp near 10 on the volume dial. The Reverb has plenty of splash and dimension with a long decay, and the Vibrato (technically tremolo) has a strong, smooth pulse. The circuit is extremely clean and stock, with all of the original Schumacher-made transformers dating between the 7th and 27th weeks of 1964. All of the original CTS pots are intact as well, dating to early’64. The preamp retains its full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient of the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Blackface circuits. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp have been replaced too. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. In addition to the pair of properly biased USA-made JAN/Phillips 6L6GC power tubes, the amp is loaded with a Sylvania GZ34 rectifier and a host of new and vintage tubes in the preamp as well, all of which function as intended. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “NJ” date stamp for October of 1964. The vintage JBL 130A speaker has a professional recone and proper aluminum dust cap, and this speaker is a particularly early JBL, predating the D130F. The speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp retains its original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, with some light edge wear and a few small spots of missing tolex on the bottom edges of the cabinet. The original hardware is all intact, with some scuffing on the original nickel corners, and modest patina on the original Pat. Pending tilt-back legs, sphinx glides, and handle caps. The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1962 Fender Vibrasonic Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Brownface 1x15 JBL D130, Showman

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Vibrasonic in excellent condition and in perfect working order, with a 100% original circuit and tube set. The flagship combo amplifier of Fender’s Pre-CBS “Brownface” era, this amp delivered 40 powerful, articulate all-tube watts through a single JBL D130F speaker. Along with the Showman, the Vibrasonic was the first Fender to be paired with the hi-fi tones of a JBL, and the Vibrasonic shares an identical chassis with the Showman too (albeit with two 6L6s instead of four). The Vibrasonic features Fender’s unique “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit, and this complex design was Fender’s only true pitch shifting vibrato offered in an amp. Swampy, thick, and very Leslie-esque, it’s a three dimensional, full-bodied tone unlike any other Fender vibrato. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Vibrasonic has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. The 6G13 circuit offers EQ controls that have a very wide sweep for everything from classic hollow twang to warm, sweet sounds that will delight any Jazz player. Given the JBL D130F speaker, there’s plenty of clean headroom on tap, but once you get above 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into raucous, touch-sensitive overdrive. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile amp that pairs well with just about anything from the era! The circuit is completely original with stock Schumacher transformers that date to late’61, and the circuit is bone stock, with all of the original blue molded Ajax and yellow Astron tone capacitors which are extremely musical sounding and a crucial part of the magic in Fender’s Pre-CBS preamps. The complete set of original Astron filter caps are also intact and still functioning as intended, and the original gray two-prong power cable is intact too. Inside the cabinet, the “LC” stamp on the tube chart conclusively dates production to March of 1962. In terms of the all original tube compliment, this amp features a pair of General Electric 6L6s, as well as a preamp tube set of matching Amperex and General Electric valves. The speaker is an original JBL D130F with a near mint frame and original cone and 21057 cone code. The original harness is intact with cloth wire and a plain metal cap on the 1/4 jack. Cosmetically, this Vibrasonic is a clean example that would look great in a studio. The original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth are present and both the faceplate and backplate are in remarkably clean condition. The original flat Fender logo, brown barrel knobs, and nickel corners are present. The molded plastic “dogbone” handle is a modern replacement. The underside of the cabinet had at one time been fitted with casters which have been subsequently removed, and there are a few light scuffs on the edges of the enclosure. This Vibrasonic is very clean and original, with an untouched circuit, complete vintage tube set, and the stock one-button vibrato footswitch. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters with F&T and Ruby caps, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp are new Spragues. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tubes consist of a new pair of Tung Sol 5881 power tubes, with a USA-made GZ34 rectifier and a host of new tubes in the preamp as well, all of which function as intended. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “NB” date stamp for February of 1964. The original JBL D130F speaker has a recone with a WHF cone and proper aluminum dust cap, and the speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp is an absolute stunner which has likely lived its life in the studio, due to the absence of any notable cosmetic wear. The stock smooth black tolex is exceedingly clean, and the original silver sparkle grillcloth has only aged sparingly, with lots of sparkle left in the thread. The original hardware is all intact and clean, with only the faintest patina on a couple of the corners and on the original Pat. This is a collector-grade and well maintained vintage Fender Vibroverb, ideal for the stage, studio and discerning player! The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. 1960 Gibson GA-80T Varitone Vintage Tweed 1x15 Tube Guitar Amp Jensen P15P

Up for sale, a 1960 Gibson GA-80T Vari-Tone tube amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An early example of one of Gibson’s rarest amps with date codes spanning late 1959 and very early’60, the GA-80T was produced only from 1959-61 and only roughly 600 were produced total across all three years. A true tonal powerhouse with a preamp that boasts a pair of the revered 5879 pentode tubes, this amp is particularly rich, detailed, and dynamic sounding. Essentially the 5879 is a more stable and less microphonic version of the EF86, and paired with a 6L6 output section and Jensen P15P alnico speaker, the tone can be glassy or gritty, chiming or guttural with the twist of a knob. Of course at the heart of the circuit is the six position push-button Vari-Tone circuit, which lifts the same sweet, scooped, and distinct tones found in the ES-345 and 355 of the era. Activating a Varitone setting disengages the pedestrian Tone knob and the way this tone circuit shapes the sound of the guitar is truly astounding. Many of these settings really highlight Chicken Pickin’, with a musical twang and quack, and the often robust and unique nature of these tones really makes the Varitone settings stand out in a mix. The Tremolo is also one of the most pronounced and throbbing circuits we’ve ever heard on a vintage tube amp. The pulse of the trem is strong without being too choppy, and for an effect that essentially is just volume modulation, it really has a three-dimensional quality. The circuit has just been throughly serviced and recapped, and both original transformers are intact. A three-prong power cord has been installed, and the amp has in short been meticulously gone through to retain the integrity and power of this circuit. The original CentraLab pots date to the 20th week of 1960, while the date stamp on the speaker frame is from the 52nd week of 1959. The speaker has as particularly clean frame and original foil label on the magnet bell, and the speaker has just been professionally reconed. Cosmetically, the original tweed and oxblood grillcloth are both intact, with a minty and stock raised “Gibson” logo on the face of the amp. The tweed does show some modest staining and its fair share of scuffs, but overall is remarkably intact (always a rarer feat the larger the tweed amp). All of the stock knobs are present, including the chicken head knobs for Volume and Tone and the dark burgundy caps for the Vari-Tone push-button controls. Some of the original black silkscreen lettering is present on the faceplate as well which has plenty of sheen on the chrome plating. Other original features the original brown rubber feet and the original luggage-style handle with matching “Gibson” logo and tweed material in a lucite frame. The original wooden wedge footswitch is included to activate the Tremolo. This Gibson GA-80T Vari-Tone amp is very original, thoroughly serviced, and a true force to be reckoned with, standing up to the Fender competition of the era with an incredible array of on-board features. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1975 Ampeg B-15N Portaflex tube amp in good working order with fresh power tubes. The B-15N is one of the most recorded and highly regarded tube bass amp circuits of all time, and this classic four-input vintage model delivers the goods through the original heavy duty CTS 15 speaker. Manufactured in the USA by Ampeg and recently serviced, the amp is powered by a pair of new and properly biased JJ 6L6 power tubes for a robust 30 watts of output. Surprisingly powerful given its modest power, the B-15N excels at a dynamic and detailed tone that can be extremely warm, or distinct and bright. Paired with a Precision Bass, it’s the perfect recipe for Motown thump. A rare version produced for only a few short years with white rocker switches, this Ampeg has a sleek visual appeal. This head has a couple new caps in the power supply and the circuit is otherwise 100% stock. The stock transformers are both present, and the circuit retains the original CTS pots which date to 1975. The faceplate is notably clean, with all of the original black silkscreened graphics intact on the polished aluminum, and all of the original knobs are intact too. Aside from the new pair of power tubes and rectifier, the rest of the tubes are all vintage valves which work as intended and sound great. The fliptop head secures to the cab with stock latches, and the shockmounts the hold the head to the mounting tray are viable as well. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth is intact, and the original screw-in trolley is also present. There is some staining on the grillcloth, and wear on the cabinet around the edges, but overall, this is a fine example and a gig-worthy amp, freshly retubed and ready to go with an extremely original circuit and stock speaker. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! A true Pre-CBS example, this Pro pushes 40 watts of power via a pair of 6L6 power tubes through a single 15 JBL D130F speaker with its original cone. An ideal amp for crystalline Fender cleans and the sparkling, smooth response for which the Blackface era amps are known, this Pro delivers an extremely efficient and powerful sound, perfect for guitar or pedal steel and an ideal candidate for a Rhodes piano too. Tube rectified and notably responsive to your picking dynamics, this JBL D130F-equipped Pro offers a very articulate top end and incredible efficiency and projection, allowing the Pro to easily keep up with a band. The circuit is extremely stock, with a virtually untouched preamp and full recap of the power supply with high quality Sprague Atoms. All of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp too, an essential part of the sweet and musical quality of the Blackface amps. The Schumacher transformers are all original, dating to early 1964, and the original CTS pots and chassis stamp date to’64 as well. The original faceplate is extremely clean, with stock witch hat knobs and the “Fender Electric Instruments” text used in the Pre-CBS era. Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is fully intact and only lightly aged, with an “NE” date stamp which translates to May of 1964. The JBL speaker is likely an aftermarket upgrade, but a speaker Fender did offer in this era in their Vibroverb and Showman amps. The speaker has a clean frame and most importantly its original JBL cone with a clean “21057″ cone stamp visible. Cosmetically, the amp is extremely clean, retaining the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The tolex is remarkably well-kept as the photos can attest, with sparingly little aging of the nickel hardware and moderate darkening of the grillcloth over the last 55 years. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. Given the narrow voice coil gaps and weight of the JBL speakers, the speaker will also be removed and carefully packed separately for optimal safety while in transit. The speakers require no soldering to reinstall. International orders will be declared as merchandise, and the value of merchandise will be declared as the amount paid. We cannot declare anything as a gift or for a lesser value. The item “1964 Fender Pro Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1×15 with JBL D130F” is in sale since Sunday, May 5, 2019. You are looking at a Vintage 1966 Ampeg Gemini II 30 Watt 1×15 All Tube Combo Amp. If you are into that 1960′s trashy rock sound, (Stones, Kinks) you’ll love this amp. In production from 1965 to 1968. Originally designed as an Accordion Amp. (What were they thinking). Though the Gemini II was intended for jazz (like the majority of the Ampegs of its day), this one somehow slipped past the Gatekeeper of Clean, head honcho Everett Hull. Theres something grimy, rich, and raw going on when you crank it up, and that opens a world of sonic possibilities beyond the archetypal smooth. To be fair, itll do smooth if you keep it down to 9 or 10 oclock on the dial, lulling you back into that mid-60s vibe. But, fast-forward nearly 50 years and these things make great avenues to original tones in the arenas of alternative, indie, blues-rock, Americana, and roots-rock. Get it cooking, and it also lets the listener know youre plugged into something other than the usual Vox, Marshall, or Fender-derived amp design. Of your blackface Super Reverb, JMI AC30, or JTM45 Bluesbreaker combo! Our Amp Tech serviced this amp. He cleaned all pots, jacks and tube sockets. Replaced one open plate resistor and a couple of caps. Added a 3-prong grounded ac cord. Everything functions and works great! You won’t spend any additional monies on this amp. Gig Ready on Arrival! Speaker is NOT original. It has been upgrade to a 1×15 Jemsen Speaker! Complete Package with Original 2-button footswitch! Keep in mind that this is a 57 year old vintage amp that has been used.
