1964 Fender Vibroverb Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL 130A, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Vibroverb in excellent condition, recently serviced and loaded with a vintage JBL 130A speaker. A very original and clean example of Fender’s rarest and most desirable Blackface amp, the Vibroverb was only made in the Pre-CBS Fender era, lasting from late 1963 through’64. Best known for its association with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Vibroverb delivers 40 all-tube watts with a dual channel design and tube rectifier. The amp is loaded with a pair of vintage JAN/Phillips 6L6 power tubes, and the JBL speaker has been professionally reconed. The tone is clear and powerful, with dynamic Fender cleans that sparkle and twang. The highly efficient JBL speaker keeps the signal and tight, with very little speaker cone distortion even at high volumes, letting the light compression and velvety tube overdrive of the circuit be heard with stunning clarity when you push the amp near 10 on the volume dial. The Reverb has plenty of splash and dimension with a long decay, and the Vibrato (technically tremolo) has a strong, smooth pulse. The circuit is extremely clean and stock, with all of the original Schumacher-made transformers dating between the 7th and 27th weeks of 1964. All of the original CTS pots are intact as well, dating to early’64. The preamp retains its full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient of the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Blackface circuits. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp have been replaced too. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. In addition to the pair of properly biased USA-made JAN/Phillips 6L6GC power tubes, the amp is loaded with a Sylvania GZ34 rectifier and a host of new and vintage tubes in the preamp as well, all of which function as intended. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “NJ” date stamp for October of 1964. The vintage JBL 130A speaker has a professional recone and proper aluminum dust cap, and this speaker is a particularly early JBL, predating the D130F. The speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp retains its original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, with some light edge wear and a few small spots of missing tolex on the bottom edges of the cabinet. The original hardware is all intact, with some scuffing on the original nickel corners, and modest patina on the original Pat. Pending tilt-back legs, sphinx glides, and handle caps. The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. The speaker will be removed and packed separately due to the weight, ensuring the safest transit for both the baffle and speaker cone and voice coil. International orders will be declared as merchandise, and the value of merchandise will be declared as the amount paid. We cannot declare anything as a gift or for a lesser value. We do our best to describe all items with honesty and accuracy, but to be sure, please. Up for sale, a 1963 Ampeg B-15N “Flip-Top” Portaflex tube amplifier in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This exceedingly clean B-15N is a very early example with gleaming chrome, blue diamond tolex, the original full set of matched Ampeg-branded tubes, original Jensen EM1501 speaker, rare tilt-back rod, and original trolley. As the amp that defined the Motown bass sound and a must-have for studios worldwide, the B-15N is the undisputed king of vintage bass tone, with a thick, thumpy sound that is round, detailed, and versatile, bringing out the best in your instrument’s natural tonal characteristics. The two channels each have a unique voice, with Channel One being a bit more mellow and smooth, while Channel Two has a touch more grit and bite, also making it an excellent choice for guitar (diming this channel out delivers a particularly nice overdriven roar with a humbucker or P-90 equipped instrument). Just given a checkup by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this B-15N is ready for stage and studio use. The circuit features all of the original capacitors, untouched solder joints, and CTS pots which date to the 18th week of 1962. The stock transformers are present, and the serial number sticker inside the cabinet dates to February of 1963. The original multi-pin connection between the head and cab is intact, as is the original two-prong power cable. This ceramic driver sound clear and powerful, keeping low frequencies rich and focused. The original tit-back rod is secured inside the cabinet, a feature only seen on the B-15N until 1964. Cosmetically, this amp is the nicest early B-15N we’ve ever had in the shop, with flawless silkscreen text on a near mint chrome-plated chassis. The stock latches are still mounted to the original tray, and the head features four new shockmounts between the head and tray. All of the original hardware is present including the light up lucite “Ampeg” logo (with a custom Ampeg-factory inscription ostensibly for the original owner) and all of the original knobs. The trolley is original as well. The blue diamond tolex is original and exceedingly clean with some wear on the trolley tolex but only a few minor scuffs on the speaker enclosure edges. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. Up for sale, a 1969 Ampeg B-15N Portaflex tube amp in good working order, complete with the original trolley and full vintage tube set. The B-15N is one of the most recorded and highly regarded tube bass amp circuits of all time, and this classic four-input vintage model delivers the goods through the original 15 Eminence ceramic magnet speaker. Manufactured in the USA by Ampeg at their Linden, NJ factory and just given a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, the amp is powered by a matched pair of properly biased Phillips 6L6GC power tubes. Notable for the addition of Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Lo rocker switches for each channel not found on earlier iterations, this B-15N has surprising output given its modest power and excels at a dynamic and detailed tone that can be extremely warm, or distinct and bright. Paired with a Precision Bass, it’s the perfect recipe for Motown thump. The original transformers are both present, and the preamp is virtually untouched, with original CTS pots that date to mid-1969. Along with the Phillips 6L6 power tubs, the amp features a trio of original Ampeg-branded octal preamp tubes and a vintage 5AR4 rectifier. A new three-prong power cable has been installed. The stock Eminence speaker has a clean frame and date code from the 24th week of 1969. The cabinet retains the original smooth black tolex, while the baffle has been professionally regrilled with black and silver cloth that closely matches vintage spec and is fitted with the original large metal Ampeg badge. The faceplate retains virtually all of the original blue pinstriping. Wear on the cabinet includes minor scuffs and edge wear, with wear through the tolex on the back two top corners and a couple isolated additional spots. As the photos show, this B-15N would look great in a studio. The original screw-on trolley is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1964 Fender Pro Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL D130F

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Pro in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A true Pre-CBS example, this Pro pushes 40 watts of power via a pair of 6L6 power tubes through a single 15 JBL D130F speaker with its original cone. An ideal amp for crystalline Fender cleans and the sparkling, smooth response for which the Blackface era amps are known, this Pro delivers an extremely efficient and powerful sound, perfect for guitar or pedal steel and an ideal candidate for a Rhodes piano too. Tube rectified and notably responsive to your picking dynamics, this JBL D130F-equipped Pro offers a very articulate top end and incredible efficiency and projection, allowing the Pro to easily keep up with a band. The circuit is extremely stock, with a virtually untouched preamp and full recap of the power supply with high quality Sprague Atoms. All of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp too, an essential part of the sweet and musical quality of the Blackface amps. The Schumacher transformers are all original, dating to early 1964, and the original CTS pots and chassis stamp date to’64 as well. The original faceplate is extremely clean, with stock witch hat knobs and the “Fender Electric Instruments” text used in the Pre-CBS era. Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is fully intact and only lightly aged, with an “NE” date stamp which translates to May of 1964. The JBL speaker is likely an aftermarket upgrade, but a speaker Fender did offer in this era in their Vibroverb and Showman amps. The speaker has a clean frame and most importantly its original JBL cone with a clean “21057″ cone stamp visible. Cosmetically, the amp is extremely clean, retaining the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The tolex is remarkably well-kept as the photos can attest, with sparingly little aging of the nickel hardware and moderate darkening of the grillcloth over the last 55 years. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1974 Fender Vibrosonic Reverb Silverface Vintage Tube Amp 1x15 Cerwin Vega, Twin

Up for sale, a 1974 Fender Vibrosonic Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A rare vintage Silverface-era Fender amp, the Vibrosonic uses the 100 watt all tube platform of the venerable Twin Reverb and pairs it with a single 15 speaker. Perfect for situations where maximum headroom, power, and crystalline cleans are essential, the massive Fender-branded Cerwin Vega model P. 15 speaker compliments the circuit perfectly. Whether you want aggressive Tele snap, the rich textures of a pedal steel, or the polyphony and powerful bass response of a Fender Rhodes piano, the Vibrosonic is an ideal choice. The amp also features Fender’s tube driven Reverb and Vibrato (technically tremolo), which add extra dimension to the tone and can be accessed via the original two-button footswitch. The circuit is very original and recently serviced, with stock Schumacher transformers that date to between late 1972 and’73. All of the original blue molded capacitors are intact in the preamp, and the original CTS pots date to early’74. The power supply has been professionally recapped, and the preamp features new bypass caps as well to ensure years of future trouble-free operation. The tube compliment consists of a matched quartet of properly biased Ruby 6L6s, along with a host of modern preamp tubes. The speaker is among the most robust used in any Fender amp, and the Cerwin Vega has a clean orange frame and original sticker on the magnet. The tube chart is partially intact inside the cabinet, which retains its original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The finger-jointed cabinet does show have repairs on the top edges of the cabinet, which have been addressed both structurally and cosmetically, with the tolex carefully glued down after the finger-joints themselves were reglued. The Silverface faceplate retains all of its original turquoise text and full compliment of black witch hat knobs, and all of the original hardware is intact including the tilt-back chrome legs, corners, handle caps, chassis straps, and sphinx glides (feet). The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1967 Harmony 525 Vintage Tube Amp 1x15 Supro Thunderbolt with Jensen C15P, Valco

Up for sale, a 1967 Harmony model 525 tube amp in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Made in Chicago, USA by Valco (the parent company known for producing the Supro, National, and Airline brands among others), the 525 is essentially a Supro Thunderbolt with the added benefit of individual Treble and Bass controls. Rich, powerful, and nuanced, the 525 pushes 35 watts through a pair of original RCA 6L6GC power tubes and an original Jensen C15P speaker. For everything from rich cleans and wooly rhythm tones to saturated tube overdrive further up on the volume dial, this Harmony delivers a pure sound with a simple yet ingenious circuit. The signature sizzle, drive, and subtle compression of Valco/Supro’s preamp design offers a very dynamic and articulate signal balanced by the warmth and fullness of the single 15 speaker. The circuit is very original, with CTS pots that date to 1967 and original impressively sized transformers as well. The faceplate retains its original gleaming chrome plating, with all of the original black silkscreen graphics and lettering, as well as a minty trio of chrome insert knobs. The Jensen C15P speaker has a near mint black speaker frame, gold foil label on the ceramic magnet, and date code from’67. The original black ostrich tolex is extremely clean and the grill cloth retains its vivid red racing stripes. The Valco-made Harmony 525 is a classic, oft-overlooked model with the same preamp, tube and speaker compliment, and rich tone as the Supro Thunderbolt. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1964 Supro Thunderbolt Airline-Branded Vintage Tube Amp Valco 1x15 with RCA 6L6GCs

Up for sale, a 1964 Supro Thunderbolt with rare two-tone blonde and black tolex and a complete original RCA tube set. An Airline-branded variant, this amp is otherwise identical to its Supro-branded brother. This legendary tube amp was made in the USA by Valco, and is generally considered to be Jimmy Page’s amp of choice for crafting many of guitar sounds on early Led Zeppelin records. Lightly compressed, focused, and balanced, the Thunderbolt pushes roughly 35 watts through a pair of 6L6 power tubes and a Jensen C15N speaker. For everything from clean, wooly rhythm tones to saturated tube overdrive further up on the volume dial, the Thunderbolt delivers a pure sound with a simple yet ingenious circuit and only two knobs for Volume and Tone. The circuit is extremely original, and both transformers are stock, with original CTS pots that date to’64. Notable for being an early example of the Thunderbolt with a rectifier tube and sweet, tube driven “sag”, the amp boasts an original RCA 5U4 in the rectifier position, along with a pair of RCA-branded 6L6GC gray plate power tubes that are properly biased. The chassis has consistent light surface rust, yet all of the original black silkscreen text is intact, along with the stock pair of knobs. The speaker is an era-correct Jensen 15 C15N speaker, and this ceramic magnet speaker has an extremely clean gray frame and original foil label on the magnet. The cabinet retains its original two-tone tolex and salt and pepper grillcloth, with modest wear on the top of the enclosure and a few requisite scuffs and snags on the tolex as a whole. If you’re looking for the essential Valco/Supro tone for recording or live use, look no further than the rare Airline-branded variant of the venerable Thunderbolt.

1962 Fender Vibrasonic Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Brownface 1x15 JBL D130, Showman

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Vibrasonic in excellent condition and in perfect working order, with a 100% original circuit and tube set. The flagship combo amplifier of Fender’s Pre-CBS “Brownface” era, this amp delivered 40 powerful, articulate all-tube watts through a single JBL D130F speaker. Along with the Showman, the Vibrasonic was the first Fender to be paired with the hi-fi tones of a JBL, and the Vibrasonic shares an identical chassis with the Showman too (albeit with two 6L6s instead of four). The Vibrasonic features Fender’s unique “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit, and this complex design was Fender’s only true pitch shifting vibrato offered in an amp. Swampy, thick, and very Leslie-esque, it’s a three dimensional, full-bodied tone unlike any other Fender vibrato. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Vibrasonic has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. The 6G13 circuit offers EQ controls that have a very wide sweep for everything from classic hollow twang to warm, sweet sounds that will delight any Jazz player. Given the JBL D130F speaker, there’s plenty of clean headroom on tap, but once you get above 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into raucous, touch-sensitive overdrive. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile amp that pairs well with just about anything from the era! The circuit is completely original with stock Schumacher transformers that date to late’61, and the circuit is bone stock, with all of the original blue molded Ajax and yellow Astron tone capacitors which are extremely musical sounding and a crucial part of the magic in Fender’s Pre-CBS preamps. The complete set of original Astron filter caps are also intact and still functioning as intended, and the original gray two-prong power cable is intact too. Inside the cabinet, the “LC” stamp on the tube chart conclusively dates production to March of 1962. In terms of the all original tube compliment, this amp features a pair of General Electric 6L6s, as well as a preamp tube set of matching Amperex and General Electric valves. The speaker is an original JBL D130F with a near mint frame and original cone and 21057 cone code. The original harness is intact with cloth wire and a plain metal cap on the 1/4 jack. Cosmetically, this Vibrasonic is a clean example that would look great in a studio. The original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth are present and both the faceplate and backplate are in remarkably clean condition. The original flat Fender logo, brown barrel knobs, and nickel corners are present. The molded plastic “dogbone” handle is a modern replacement. The underside of the cabinet had at one time been fitted with casters which have been subsequently removed, and there are a few light scuffs on the edges of the enclosure. This Vibrasonic is very clean and original, with an untouched circuit, complete vintage tube set, and the stock one-button vibrato footswitch.
