Estate fresh, working1960′s Fisher 500-C tube amp.

Vintage Fisher 500-C tube FM Stereo receiver in excellent overall condition. Works well with no hum. Very clean chassis and faceplate as it was removed from a custom console; and was acquired from the original owner. Comes with original Service Manual. Inspection tag still on the cord. All brass knob caps are intact. Faceplate printing is great though there are a couple of nicks and scratches on the faceplate. Chassis printing show some wear and tape residue. Power switch works fine. Ive been running it for several days with no issues. All tone, volume & balance controls work fine. FM Stereo Beacon works on Auto; received several stations. Signal strength meter works. Dial illumination works on both sides. Phono and Aux work fine too. Audio is equal on both sides. It has been serviced sometime in its history as I see the black tube is wrapped in tape. I have no idea when the work was done but estimate years since its been last serviced, so plan on having it checked out by a qualified tech for daily use as this unit is well over 50 years old. So, while fully working, it may not be perfect, so consider this a repair or restoration project. I will have a video demonstration video available as proof of function. Details of electronic restoration and upgrades with post restoration actual specs. CHASSIS: All contacts, switches, sockets and individual pins and pots thoroughly cleaned and lubricated as needed. Front panel, dial and buttons excellent except for minor scratch see pics. Chassis clean , with some residual indelible stains, vintage appearance. POWER SUPPLY:Upgraded with new heavy duty soft-fast recovery diodes and new bias rectifier bridge, and bias electrolytic caps. Upgraded critical resistors to spec voltages, Adjustable Bias adjusted to -19,3vdc, 30mA idle. Normal residual ripples within specs. Current in-rush limiter installed. Line suppression safety caps replaced. Filter electrolitics reformed to spec, normal residual ripples. FM & IF Stages: Vacuum tubes selected for spec Gm, long life, no gas or micro-phonics. Individual Tube specs in folder with manuals. This was followed by a fine fm &if alignment with high quality laboratory equipment , resulting in high sensitivity: 1.1 uV in the -20 dB quieting test, better than factory spec. Signal strength in meter is 4. /5 with simple fm antennae. MULTIPLEX DECODER: New Tung-sol 12AX7′s tubes. Audio path capacitors replaced as well as the electrolytic cap. The decoder stage was fine-tuned with a Fisher 300 multiplex generator (specially designed to service this stage) obtaining an overall separation of 30 dB. AUDIO STAGE: NEW matched quad of Tung-sol 7591 Power Tubes, matched by trans-conductance and idle current. All small electrolytic, mustard caps and some ceramic disc replaced with high quality capacitors. Coupling capacitors replaced with PIO (paper in oil) and orange drop caps. Power grid upgrade installed. Phono upgrade installed , freq response +/1 bd with reverse EQ filter. Results: Excellent sine, square and triangular signal output. NO hum, dead silent receiver & amp. Max total audio pwr 86 wt rms, Rt&lft ch max pwr 43 wts. Total Harmonic distortion (THD)plus noise measured at rt ch=0.08%, lft ch 0.1%. Frequency response of amp +/- 1 dB 30 hz to 20 khz both ch. IMD plus noise(inter-modulation distortion) 0.2%. All are actual post restoration measurements. End result:A huge sound stage, depth and brilliance , full punchy bass, great separation and a to die -for warm and tactile mid range, and sparkling lush highs, finally tested with hours of awesome Fisher sound.
