1962 Fender Tremolux Brownface Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Head, Blonde & Oxblood

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Tremolux head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The amp boasts the sweetness, tonal range, and harmonic clarity that characterizes Fender’s Pre-CBS era Brownface amps, and the circuit is powered by a pair of vintage General Electric 6L6 power tubes. The tone is pure, dynamic Fender clean sparkle until around 4 on the Volume dial where the amp begins to get just a touch of overdrive on the notes before cascading into full tube saturation when you dime it out. The bias-based tremolo circuit has an incredibly deep pulse and the EQ controls have a positively huge sweep. The circuit is extremely original, with all of the stock blue molded Ajax tone caps in the preamp, as well as the stock pots and original carbon comp resistors. All of the original transformers are intact, with a Triad power transformer and Schumacher output transformer which dates to the 22nd week of’62. The power supply has been professionally recapped with new Sprague Atom caps, and the preamp is virtually untouched save for one capacitor which was replaced with a cap of similar vintage. The chassis itself is very clean and the original brown faceplate is intact, complete with a set of original cream barrel knobs. The head sports its original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth. The tolex is quite clean, with a couple small cigarette burns on top and spots on the side where the sap from the knots in the original pine has caused some staining through the tolex. There is one spot of wear on the edge of the tolex north of Input 1 on the Bright Channel, and some wear on the silkscreened faceplate adjacent to the Volume knob on that channel as well. The original “dogbone” molded plastic handle is intact, along with the original nickel corners and flat Fender logo on the amp’s face. The piggyback clip bars and sphinx glides (feet) are modern genuine Fender parts. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Deluxe tube amplifier in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured in the beginning of the brief Brownface era, this amp has a very original 6G3 circuit, only serviced as needed for optimal performance. Providing a perfect middle ground between the warmth and dynamic range of the Tweed amps that preceded it and the clarity and chime of the Blackface amps that would be introduced a couple years later, this Deluxe offers everything from rich and mellow tonalities to twangy and crystalline bite at the turn of a knob. The bias based tremolo circuit is deep and throbbing, with a very smooth waveform and a tone that has an almost three-dimensional quality. It’s truly one of the best examples of this classic Fender effect! The circuit features the original Schumacher output transformer which dates back to the 49th week of 1960, while the power transformer is a USA-made boutique Mercury Tone Clone drop in transformer, faithfully replicating the original. The chassis itself is remarkably clean with limited oxidation and general wear. The Stackpole pots are all intact and the preamp features the full compliment of original blue molded Ajax tone caps. The original bypass caps in the preamp and larger filter caps have been replaced with modern Spragues, and the new caps have been neatly sleeved in their original Astron brown wrappers. The tube compliment includes a vintage pair of matched General Electric 6V6 power tubes, with an Amperex 5AR4 rectifier and a combination of vintage and modern valves in the preamp. The stock Oxford 12K5 speaker is intact with a minty frame and date code from the 4th week of 1962, also retaining the exceedingly rare brown metal bell cover for the magnet and Fender foil sticker. The speaker has also just been professionally reconed. Inside the cab, the original tube chart is fully intact too, with an “LE” date stamp that translates to May of 1962. Cosmetically, this amp is remarkably clean, with original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth. The original chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also intact, and the faceplate is positively gleaming, retaining its full compliment of brown barrel knobs. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1961 Fender Vibrolux Vintage Tube Amp Brownface Pre-CBS 1x12 Combo, 6G11 Circuit

Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Vibrolux in excellent condition and in good working order. This rare 1×12 “Brownface” version of the Vibrolux is a bridge between the Tweed and Blackface models in both specs and tone, with a glassy, touch sensitive quality, robust cleans, and rich overdrive characteristics when you dime it out. Pushing 35 all tube watts through a vintage Oxford alnico 12LN speaker, there’s plenty to love about the versatility and tone offered by this Fender. The amp has plenty of clean headroom and the sweet sag of a tube rectifier, and when pushed above 5 on the volume dial, things start to compress slightly and cascade into sweet overdrive with just enough bite. The bias-based tremolo circuit also has a very strong, thumping pulse that’s notably deeper than later Fender circuits, with a wide range of speeds. The circuit is freshly serviced and largely original, retaining the original Schumacher output transformer and choke which both date to mid-1961. The power transformer is a properly spec’d replacement for this amp with a blank black bell cover. Many of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp and an integral part of the sweetness and clarity of the circuit. All of the stock pots are intact as well (dating to’61) with largely original solder joints and cloth covered wire. The power supply has been recapped, and the bias cap also has a small trim pot piggybacked on it to perfectly dial in the bias of the matched pair of vintage small bottle USA-made 6L6 power tubes. The amp has also been fitted with a modern three-prong power cable. The preamp tubes are a mix of modern and vintage valves from the likes of Sylvania and RCA. The speaker is the right make and model for this amplifier (Oxford 12LN) and era-correct, although it dates a bit earlier than the amp with a code on the edge of the frame which translates to 1957. Cosmetically, this amp would look great in a studio, with original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth. The leather handle is a modern replacement, as is the upper back panel, while the lower back panel is original. The faceplate retains all of the original brown barrel knobs. This Vibrolux is a rare, thoroughly serviced, and largely original vintage Pre-CBS Fender amp that’s ready for stage and studio use. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1961 Fender Concert Brownface Pre-CBS Vintage Tube Amp with Oxford 10K5, Near Mint

Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Concert in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with a vintage footswitch and cover. This Concert is time capsule clean cosmetically, incredible sounding, and complete with a quad of Oxford 10″ 10K5R-1 alnico speakers with long brown metal “Fender bell covers. The combination of the Brownface 6G12-A circuit and four very rare alnico Oxfords is truly something to behold. The amp delivers sweet, dynamic clean tones with incredible sparkle and a certain high fidelity clarity that is noticeable as soon as you strum your first chord. Turn the amp up past 5 and the amp starts to smoothly overdrive with just the right amount of bite and the complex midrange bark that makes Fender’s Brownface amps the perfect middle ground between the growl and attitude of Fender’s Tweed amps and the glassy shimmer of the Blackface era. The EQ controls have an incredible wide sweep, and this amp is uncommonly warm for any Fender, never feeling too bright or brittle, with the perfect amount of midrange and focused low end. The second channel boasts the Harmonic Vibrato circuit, which was the only Fender “Tremolo” circuit to ever have a true pitch shifting effect, with deep pulsating warbles and a wide range of speeds. The circuit is very clean and original, with stock transformers that date to mid-1961, as well as a full compliment of original yellow Astron and blue Ajax molded tone caps in the preamp. The original Astron Minimite filter caps are still intact and functioning as intended, while the smaller bypass and bias caps in the preamp have been swapped in favor of parts within factory tolerances and sleeved in their original Minimite wrappers. The pots date to mid-1961 and are all stock except for one replacement for the Vibrato Speed knob, with the new pot providing an ideal taper. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage USA-made small bottle Tung Sol 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are all vintage valves from the likes of Sylvania and Amperex aside from one new JJ tube. The Oxford 10K5R-1 speakers are a matched quad, and the elongated brown metal bell covers (only used on the first alnico magnet versions of the 10K5) are an extremely rare and cool accent used for only a matter of months by Fender. Beneath the bell covers, the alnico magnets have date stamps from the 18th week of’61. The tube chart is fully intact on the bottom of the cabinet (the common placement for many of the earliest Brownface amps), with crisp corners and an “KD” date stamp from April of 1961. The original rough brown tolex and oxblood grillcloth are intact and in remarkable shape. As the photos show, the tolex and grill show sparingly little wear, and this amp is a great candidate for any collection or studio. The speaker frames and bell covers are exceedingly clean, consistent with the chassis itself and the Brownface faceplate. The original chassis straps, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and flat “Fender” logo are all in great shape and present. The original dogbone handle is present too and still clings to the handle mounts, although there are splits on the undersides of the handle (a new dogbone is also included). This is an extremely rare Fender Brownface Concert in stunning, original condition, complete with a vintage single-button footswitch to engage the vibrato. The amp also comes with a rare dark green cover, ostensibly original, and while different from the more common Victoria-made covers, we have seen this much rarer cover material on more than a couple early Brownface amps. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. International orders will be declared as merchandise, and the value of merchandise will be declared as the amount paid. We cannot declare anything as a gift or for a lesser value. 1962 Fender Vibrasonic Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Brownface 1x15 JBL D130, Showman

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Vibrasonic in excellent condition and in perfect working order, with a 100% original circuit and tube set. The flagship combo amplifier of Fender’s Pre-CBS “Brownface” era, this amp delivered 40 powerful, articulate all-tube watts through a single JBL D130F speaker. Along with the Showman, the Vibrasonic was the first Fender to be paired with the hi-fi tones of a JBL, and the Vibrasonic shares an identical chassis with the Showman too (albeit with two 6L6s instead of four). The Vibrasonic features Fender’s unique “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit, and this complex design was Fender’s only true pitch shifting vibrato offered in an amp. Swampy, thick, and very Leslie-esque, it’s a three dimensional, full-bodied tone unlike any other Fender vibrato. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Vibrasonic has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. The 6G13 circuit offers EQ controls that have a very wide sweep for everything from classic hollow twang to warm, sweet sounds that will delight any Jazz player. Given the JBL D130F speaker, there’s plenty of clean headroom on tap, but once you get above 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into raucous, touch-sensitive overdrive. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile amp that pairs well with just about anything from the era! The circuit is completely original with stock Schumacher transformers that date to late’61, and the circuit is bone stock, with all of the original blue molded Ajax and yellow Astron tone capacitors which are extremely musical sounding and a crucial part of the magic in Fender’s Pre-CBS preamps. The complete set of original Astron filter caps are also intact and still functioning as intended, and the original gray two-prong power cable is intact too. Inside the cabinet, the “LC” stamp on the tube chart conclusively dates production to March of 1962. In terms of the all original tube compliment, this amp features a pair of General Electric 6L6s, as well as a preamp tube set of matching Amperex and General Electric valves. The speaker is an original JBL D130F with a near mint frame and original cone and 21057 cone code. The original harness is intact with cloth wire and a plain metal cap on the 1/4 jack. Cosmetically, this Vibrasonic is a clean example that would look great in a studio. The original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth are present and both the faceplate and backplate are in remarkably clean condition. The original flat Fender logo, brown barrel knobs, and nickel corners are present. The molded plastic “dogbone” handle is a modern replacement. The underside of the cabinet had at one time been fitted with casters which have been subsequently removed, and there are a few light scuffs on the edges of the enclosure. This Vibrasonic is very clean and original, with an untouched circuit, complete vintage tube set, and the stock one-button vibrato footswitch. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1961 Fender Super Vintage Tube Amp Pre-CBS Brownface 2×10 Jensen P10Q, 6G4. 1961 Fender Super in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Brownface Pre-CBS tube amp was produced February 1961 with original transformers, a very original and freshly serviced chassis circuit, a full compliment of vintage tubes/tube shields, brown foot switch, and a pair of vintage 1958 blue frame Jensen P10Q alnico speakers with fresh recones. The rough brown tolex is intact along with the original oxblood grillcloth. As the photos show, the tolex and grill are particularly clean, and both back panels are present too. All hardware is stock and accounted for including the dark brown plastic “dogbone” handle, corners, sphinx glides (feet), and flat “Fender” logo on the amp’s face. The circuit has just been thoroughly tested by the Amp Guys (maker of Valve Train amps in Orlando/ invoice included) and the original yellow Astron capacitors in the preamp are all intact. Aside from replacing the two bias caps, adding a bias trim pot, as well as the vibrato caps, the preamp is untouched. The original CTS pots are all intact too. The power amp has been recapped with new F&T caps (encased in the Astron cardboard covering) to ensure reliable, trouble-free use for years to come. 3 prong grey power cord. The tubes consist of a matched pair of USA 5881 RCA along with a host of vintage preamp tubes by RCA and General Electric. The speakers are an original pair of Jensen P10Qs (though non original to the amp). Both speakers have clean frames with only light speckles of rust and clean Jensen labels. A direct descendant of the Tweed era Super amp, this early Brownface example sports the same transformers and speakers as its close predecessor, delivering hi-fi clarity and sparkling, robust clean tones. Turning the amp up past 5 on the volume dial yields thick, chewy overdrive with great touch-sensitive responsiveness and EQ controls that have an incredibly wide sweep. And of course this is the most compact Brownface-era amp to feature the “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit. A true pitch shifting vibrato (not the tremolo found on most Fender amps), the Harmonic Vibrato sound has a thick, Leslie-esque throb and warble, with a three-dimensional quality and depth that is perfectly suited to the speaker compliment and cabinet size. Whether you want a slow, undulating swampy sound or faster, pulsating vibrato, this Super delivers the goods. Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Bassman in near mint, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. The last iteration of the 6G6-B Bassman circuit, this Brownface Bassman features original smooth blonde tolex, gold sparkle grillcloth and a black faceplate with cream barrel knobs (although the circuit is still of the earlier Brownface design). 100% original aside from new main filter caps and grid resistors, the amp is loaded with a full compliment of ostensibly original tubes, with a matched pair of gray plate 6L6GCs with very low hours. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brownface circuits respond well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a huge range and after around 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into very rich tube overdrive with smooth compression that enhances note attack. It’s the kind of natural tube saturation that only comes from pushing a well designed Fender circuit to its limit. A Pre-CBS Fender Blonde Bassman was used on more Beatles recording sessions than the Vox AC30, was a particular favorite of Pete Townshend, and has become the amp forever linked with Brian Setzer’s classic Rockabilly tones. It’s hard to beat the Bassman for a tone that bridges the gap between the warmth and nuance of the Brownface circuits and the shimmery cleans of the Blackface line. The chassis shines like new and the preamp is virtually untouched, with all of the original blue Ajax tone caps, carbon comp resistors, cloth-covered wire, and Stackpole pots that date to late’63. All of the original Schumacher transformers are intact with very clean bells, dating between late’63 and the first weeks of 1964. New filter caps have been sleeved into the original wrappers, providing a clean, original look and guaranteeing optimal performance. The tube chart is fully intact on crisp, unfaded paper, with a bold “ND” date stamp which translates to April of’64. The speaker cabinet had likely never been opened prior to the photos taken for this listing, with all of the original fiberglass baffling intact, as well as a pair of near mint Oxford 12M6 speakers with early’64 date codes on the black frames. The wiring inside the cab is untouched, and both speakers retain their original cones. Cosmetically, this is the cleanest 6G6-B Bassman we’ve ever had in the shop, and both the head and cabinet retain their original transitional smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, a combination only seen for a matter of months in early’64. Aside from a few light scuffs on the edges of the speaker cab, there’s virtually no wear to report. All of the original hardware is intact and is positively gleaming, including the tilt-back chrome legs, piggyback clip bars and thumbscrews, logos, and nickel corners. This is a no-excuses, collector-grade 6G6-B Bassman loaded with a full compliment of original tubes, stock speakers, and an extremely original circuit. Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Concert in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This Concert is extremely clean cosmetically, incredible sounding, and complete with a quad of Oxford 10″ 10K5-5 ceramic speakers with brown plastic “Fender bell covers. The combination of the Brownface 6G12-A circuit and four Oxfords is truly something to behold. The second channel boasts the Harmonic Vibrato circuit, which was the only Fender “Tremolo” circuit to ever have a true pitch shifting effect and sounds incredible, with deep pulsating warbles and a wide range of speeds. The circuit is very clean and original, with stock transformers that date between late 1962 and early’63, as well as a full compliment of original Ajax blue molded tone caps in the preamp. The original filter caps have been upgraded with new Sprague Atoms to keep the amp operating within original factory spec, and the bypass and bias caps in the preamp have also been swapped in favor of parts within factory tolerances. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage USA-made Sylvania 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are a combination of newer and vintage valves. The Oxford 10K5 speakers are a matched quad, and the stamped brown plastic bell covers are an extremely rare and cool accent used for only a matter of months by Fender. The speakers have date codes between late 1962 and early’63. Two of the speakers retain their original cones, while the other two have been freshly reconed. The tube chart is fully intact inside the cabinet with crisp corners and an MB date stamp from February of 1963. The original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth are intact and in remarkable shape. The only replacement hardware on the amplifier is a newer rubber dogbone handle (much more reliable than the original handle for an amp of this weight). This is an extremely rare Fender Brownface Concert in stunning, original condition. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions!
