1963 Fender Vibroverb Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL D130F, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Vibroverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. An extremely original and stunningly clean example of Fender’s rarest and most desirable Blackface amp, the Vibroverb was only made in the Pre-CBS Fender era, lasting from late-1963 through’64. This is one of the very first Vibroverbs made, with an extremely low A003XX serial number, Production Run #1 stamp on the tube chart, transformers dating between Fall 1962 and Summer’63, and even a brown two-button footswitch, an exceedingly rare accessory only officially offered with the Brownface 2×10 Vibroverbs produced a few months before this Blackface model began production. Perhaps best known for its association with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Vibroverb delivers 40 tube watts via a pair of 6L6 power tubes and a JBL D130F speaker. The tone is clear and powerful, with dynamic Fender cleans that sparkle and twang. The highly efficient JBL speaker keeps things clean and tight, with very little speaker cone distortion even at high volumes, letting the light compression and velvety tube overdrive of the circuit be heard with stunning clarity when you push the amp near 10 on the volume dial. The Reverb has plenty of splash and dimension with a long decay, and the Vibrato (technically tremolo) has a strong, smooth pulse. The circuit is extremely clean and stock, with all of the original Schumacher-made transformers intact. The rare open bell output transformer dates to the 42nd week of’62, while the choke and power transformer date to the 7th and 27th weeks of’63 respectively. Visible date codes on the Stackpole pots date to the 18th week of’63. The preamp retains its full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient of the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Blackface circuits. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters with F&T caps, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp have been upgraded as well, along with the bias cap and pot. The original two-prong gray power cable is still intact. The tubes consist of a modern pair of Sovtek 5881 (6L6) power tubes, with a genuine vintage Mullard GZ34 rectifier and a host of modern and vintage valves in the preamp including a few RCAs. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “MK” date stamp for November of 1963. The original JBL D130F speaker has a recone with a WHF cone and proper aluminum dust cap, and the speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp is an absolute stunner which has likely lived its life in the studio, due to the absence of any notable cosmetic wear. The stock smooth black tolex is exceedingly clean, and the original silver sparkle grillcloth has only aged sparingly, with lots of sparkle left in the thread. The original hardware is all intact and clean, with only the faintest patina on a couple of the corners and on the original Pat. This is a collector-grade and well maintained vintage Fender Vibroverb, ideal for the stage, studio and discerning player! The original brown two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. 1965 Fender Showman Blackface Piggyback Vintage Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL D130F

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Showman in excellent condition, complete with the matching 1×15 “Tone Ring” piggyback speaker cabinet and original JBL D130F speaker. The amp boasts a full compliment of modern valves, including a quad of properly biased Ruby 6L6s, and this Showman has a sound that is powerful, clear, and sparkling. As Fender’s flagship amp boasting a whopping 85 watts of all tube power, the Showman is a real powerhouse for guitar, bass, or your favorite Fender Rhodes or combo organ. The low end is ample and thick, and the amp has plenty of headroom and efficient clean power until about 6-7 on the Volume knob where things start to compress and overdrive. Fresh back from our techs and ready for another half century, this Showman is dialed in for stage and studio use. One very unique and desirable feature of the Showman is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This large 1×15 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone with a stock JBL D130F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This elegant design makes the Showman cab work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. Plus it just looks so impressive! The speaker cabinet retains all of its original fiberglass sound dampening sheets and the D130F sounds incredible with a professional recone. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced and is very original, with a virtually untouched preamp save for a few small electrolytics. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are intact with a sweet, musical tone that’s a hallmark of the Blackface sound. The original power transformer is intact, dating to the 18th week of’65, while the output transformer and choke are genuine vintage Fender transformers substituted later in the amp’s life and dating to 1970. Other important date codes include the CTS pots, with visible date codes from the 12th week of’65. The power supply has also been professionally recapped, and the tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet too, with an “OE” date stamp that translates to May of 1965. This amp sports the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. All of the hardware is intact (with the exception of new back panel screws on the cabinet), including chrome tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars, handles, corners and raised metal Fender logos on both the head and speaker cabinet. The amp shows some nicks and scuffs around the edges of the enclosure, and the grill on the head and cabinet has aged uniformly. The original one-button footswitch to engage the Tremolo is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Pro in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A true Pre-CBS example, this Pro pushes 40 watts of power via a pair of 6L6 power tubes through a single 15 JBL D130F speaker with its original cone. An ideal amp for crystalline Fender cleans and the sparkling, smooth response for which the Blackface era amps are known, this Pro delivers an extremely efficient and powerful sound, perfect for guitar or pedal steel and an ideal candidate for a Rhodes piano too. Tube rectified and notably responsive to your picking dynamics, this JBL D130F-equipped Pro offers a very articulate top end and incredible efficiency and projection, allowing the Pro to easily keep up with a band. The circuit is extremely stock, with a virtually untouched preamp and full recap of the power supply with high quality Sprague Atoms. All of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp too, an essential part of the sweet and musical quality of the Blackface amps. The Schumacher transformers are all original, dating to early 1964, and the original CTS pots and chassis stamp date to’64 as well. The original faceplate is extremely clean, with stock witch hat knobs and the “Fender Electric Instruments” text used in the Pre-CBS era. Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is fully intact and only lightly aged, with an “NE” date stamp which translates to May of 1964. The JBL speaker is likely an aftermarket upgrade, but a speaker Fender did offer in this era in their Vibroverb and Showman amps. The speaker has a clean frame and most importantly its original JBL cone with a clean “21057″ cone stamp visible. Cosmetically, the amp is extremely clean, retaining the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The tolex is remarkably well-kept as the photos can attest, with sparingly little aging of the nickel hardware and moderate darkening of the grillcloth over the last 55 years. 1963 Fender Showman Brownface Blonde Vintage Tube Amp & Tone Ring Cab JBL D130F

Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Showman Brownface tube amplifier head and 1×15 Tone Ring speaker cab in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Along with the Twin, the Showman was the flagship of the early 1960s Fender tube amp lineup, featuring a whopping 80 watts of power, and boasting Fender’s unique “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit. While the Showman may best be known as Dick Dale’s amp of choice for his classic surf sound, this circuit can offer much more, with incredibly rich low end and EQ controls that have an extremely wide sweep for everything from punchy cleans to raucous overdrive. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Showman has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile head that pairs well with just about anything from the era! Restored to original spec, the head features new rough blonde tolex and original oxblood grillcloth, while the speaker cabinet is a brand new solid pine reproduction from Mojotone fitted with a genuine vintage JBL D130F speaker. One very unique and desirable feature of the Showman is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This large 1×15 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone with a stock JBL D140F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This elegant design makes the Showman cab work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. Plus it just looks so darn impressive! The circuit has been fully serviced and recapped, with new Sprague Atom bypass capacitors and new filter caps as well, all sleeved in the original Minimite wrappers. The original famed Ajax blue molded tone caps are intact, providing the sweetness, clarity, and balance found with vintage Fender preamps. All of the stock pots and carbon comp resistors are present as well, along with original cloth wiring. The amp boasts a quad of vintage USA-made Tung Sol 5881 (6L6GC) small bottle power tubes as well as a host of vintage valves in the preamp. The original transformers are all intact, with the absolutely massive output transformer often known as the “Dick Dale” transformer, spec’d to be cleaner and more powerful than any Fender transformer that preceded it. The power transformer dates to the first weeks of’63, while the tube chart has an “LG” date code which translates to July of’62. Along with the new rough blonde tolex on the head, all of the hardware is new as well, with modern Fender dogbone handles, chassis straps, and corners. The Showman faceplate is original and fitted with new cream barrel knobs. When Mojotone made the speaker cabinet, they placed the handle in the wrong location, something which has been rectified, and the tolex has been patched to cover the handle mounting holes on the cab for the cleanest possible look. With original transformers, a fully serviced and very stock circuit, a full compliment of vintage valves, and a vintage JBL D130F speaker too, this restored Showman is a Pre-CBS Fender classic. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely. Up for sale, a 1964 Standel Custom 83L15V vintage guitar amplifier in excellent condition and in good working order. A rare amp which Standel advertised as “Transistorized, ” this rare and complete model actually has an all tube power section with an additional 12AX7 and a solid state preamp. An early marriage of solid state and tube technologies (and many would argue one of the most effective and elegant), this amp is extremely robust and clear, with round crystalline clean tones thanks in part to the stock JBL D130F 15 speaker. Perfect for pedal steel and able to retain remarkable headroom at high volumes, the 83L15V has become a favorite of pedal steel players. The amp is stocked with a pair of vintage and likely original RCA 6GT5 power tubes which still sound great, and the original JBL speaker has a nearly spotless gray frame. The tremolo module is intact, yet has been bypassed in the circuit (common with these epoxy covered modules) and the circuit otherwise functions exactly as intended. This amp is extremely hard to come by in any condition, let alone the cosmetically stunning and well kept example seen here which has particularly nice chrome, clean tolex and grill, and all of the original knobs. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions!
