For sale is an extremely rare pair of vintage TANNOY valve tube amplifiers made in ENGLAND. Each unit includes 2 KT88/ 1 GZ34/ 1ECC83/1ECC82 and 1 OM84 valve tube x2. 30w for each amplifier. Very big and heavy, perfect operation and great sound. Please see pictures and read description carefully.

For sale is a rare set of Quad II / Quad 22 tube amplifier and preamplifier from England in as-is untested condition. I did not attempt to power this up since I don’t have transformer. Please note these are 220-240V. You will be getting exact units that are in the picture. They are missing tubes as shown, and the preamp is also missing 1 button cover. The amp are fairly close match serial #74508 and #74835. The preamp has the cable to connect to the amp, but is missing the power cord. All unit are in fair physical condition given their age, they do have scuff, some pittings/rust on all of the chassis. Many of these items will have issue that is unknown to me, or should be expected for equipment of vintage nature. All items should be inspect by qualify service man and get check out before long term use. In certain case where I can test the item, I will report the extend of my test and the result. Again please expect that the unit may have more issue than what I stated here, and no return will be accept for that reason. Please study the picture carefully as they are part of the description. If you don’t see something in the picture they are not included. In most case some screws may be missing from the back cover, or bottom plate. This is a used set of Quad II/ 22 in as-is condition. Vintage electronics contain 20-50 years old parts (belts, rubber parts, caps, etc) that while may work at the time I tested the unit, can fail at any given time. It can be a few weeks, months, or years before it fails. Service is recommend since I have not tested these unit fully, and their working condition is unknown. Due to nature of vintage electronic, there is no return accept for this item. Please note that I leave a tampering proof on these unit, that will not effect its function, but will tell me if the unit has been open in anyway. It will be very well packed (double box is available upon requested) and fully insured + signature confirmation. Made in England vintage 1970′s Sound City 120B 120 Watt bass amplifier head. This head is a BEAST. Have built a loyal following over the years. He was afraid to plug it into a cabinet for fear that this mighty head might blow the speakers! I have since tested it out, plugging it into a Peavey 4×12 guitar cabinet. To my ear it sounded pretty good, and did not blow any speakers in the cabinet despite its power. Having been in storage for years I’m sure it could use some work. It has six (count’em six) EL34 power tubes providing the 120 watts, three of which of the legendary vintage Mullard EL34 power tubes, which I believe to be the original tubes. Of the 3 additional replacement EL34′s one is a vintage RCA, one a vintage GE and one a vintage Sylvania, all well respected tubes in their own right. All of the preamp tubes are Brimar (again, probably the original tubes). Two Partridge Transformer, which is what these heads originally came with. One does look newer so I don’t know if that might be a replacement. I can see that at least 3 of the pots have been replaced as they don’t match the rest. Some scratchiness in some of the pots. One of the knobs in the front was missing so I replaced that one with a “chicken head ” knob, which is the style of knob used on some Sound City heads. I used to sell a lot of guitar amps on here and in the past I would have taken a head such as this to an amp tech and would have paid hundreds of dollars to have them go through the amp and restore it prior to listing it. I will guaranteee it will power on. The general consensus (from what I’ve read in online threads) regarding these heads is that they could use some mods to improve their sound and playability, although there is some dispute as to the optimum mods that might be performed. Cosmetically this head is (in my opionion) in pretty good shape for a 40+ year old head. One small nick in the front bottom left section of the tolex but otherwise no rips or tears in the original tolex. Some wear in the top tolex and elsewhere. The white plastic “grounding” switch on the left portion of the back panel looks a bit stumpy–I don’t know if there was more there at opne time. I have priced this head taking into account the need for resoration and repair and would be listing it for MUCH more were it already restored. Made in England 1989 (inspection sticker on side of chassis dated “20-1-89″) AOR Series Pro-50 50-watt Tube head. These are great sounding, well built heads, similar in. Design to Marshall, their British counterparts. Founded in the 1960′s by Lyndon Laney (who used to jam with Robert Plant and John Bonham) they are. Not as well known as Marshall but they built a loyal following over the years including Tommy Iommi (for whom they built a special model/series) Randy Rhoads, Vinny Moore, George Lynch, Ace Frehley, Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons, George 5 and Joe Satrianni. This should speak of their quality. I could see why as this is a more versatile amp, with a push-pull boost knobs on the bass, middle and treble knobs and also on the preamp knob. No tears in the tolex, minor wear, one foot missing and a little waviness in the label behind the pre-amp knob but overall in great shape for a head that is over 30-years old as the prior owner took excellent care of it. Additionally, in full disclosure the potentiometer shaft on the preamp knob was broken at some point in the past about halfway out. I was able to insert a shim into the knob and screw it down and the knob turns smoothly and functions properly including the push-pull feature. The tubes have not been changed for years as they sound fine and make no microphonic noise. After you receive it. I did open this amp up to spray out the potentiometers and took some pics while I was in there. See how nice and clean it is inside and h. Ow clean the Sovetek 6550WA and ECC883 preamp tubes are with plenty of silver left on top. Hard to date these amps based on serial numbers but these are known to be 80′s amps and the “Skot” output tranformer has a “89″ date code. The head could be more recent but (with some exceptions) amplifier manufacturers don’t usually stockpile a lot of transformers so the amp was most likely built in 1989. I also have a matching cabinet listed separately. Will pack well in a guitar box. Note my +1000 perfect feedback so you do have the option of returning. A fine restored example of the Quad II. I originally took this to my repair tech [back in 2006] and he replaced a defective choke from another one of my Quad II parts unit. He measured the filter capacitor and found one side a bit low. He added a ten MFD cap to it. After those repairs he ran the amplifier on the bench for at least an hour then ran frequency scans. The results are enclosed. A RCA adapter was made for this unit. I then never used the amp and it sat for over 10 years. I recently pulled it out and found it powered up just fine however no sound so I took it to repair tech Doug at Audio Specialties in Portland as my original repair tech has retired.
