1964 Fender Vibroverb Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL 130A, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Vibroverb in excellent condition, recently serviced and loaded with a vintage JBL 130A speaker. A very original and clean example of Fender’s rarest and most desirable Blackface amp, the Vibroverb was only made in the Pre-CBS Fender era, lasting from late 1963 through’64. Best known for its association with Stevie Ray Vaughan, the Vibroverb delivers 40 all-tube watts with a dual channel design and tube rectifier. The amp is loaded with a pair of vintage JAN/Phillips 6L6 power tubes, and the JBL speaker has been professionally reconed. The tone is clear and powerful, with dynamic Fender cleans that sparkle and twang. The highly efficient JBL speaker keeps the signal and tight, with very little speaker cone distortion even at high volumes, letting the light compression and velvety tube overdrive of the circuit be heard with stunning clarity when you push the amp near 10 on the volume dial. The Reverb has plenty of splash and dimension with a long decay, and the Vibrato (technically tremolo) has a strong, smooth pulse. The circuit is extremely clean and stock, with all of the original Schumacher-made transformers dating between the 7th and 27th weeks of 1964. All of the original CTS pots are intact as well, dating to early’64. The preamp retains its full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient of the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Blackface circuits. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp have been replaced too. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. In addition to the pair of properly biased USA-made JAN/Phillips 6L6GC power tubes, the amp is loaded with a Sylvania GZ34 rectifier and a host of new and vintage tubes in the preamp as well, all of which function as intended. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “NJ” date stamp for October of 1964. The vintage JBL 130A speaker has a professional recone and proper aluminum dust cap, and this speaker is a particularly early JBL, predating the D130F. The speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp retains its original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, with some light edge wear and a few small spots of missing tolex on the bottom edges of the cabinet. The original hardware is all intact, with some scuffing on the original nickel corners, and modest patina on the original Pat. Pending tilt-back legs, sphinx glides, and handle caps. The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. The preamp retains its full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient of the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Blackface circuits. The power supply features a professional recap of the main filters with F&T and Ruby caps, and the smaller bypass caps in the preamp are new Spragues. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tubes consist of a new pair of Tung Sol 5881 power tubes, with a USA-made GZ34 rectifier and a host of new tubes in the preamp as well, all of which function as intended. The tube chart is intact and very clean, with crisp corners and an “NB” date stamp for February of 1964. The original JBL D130F speaker has a recone with a WHF cone and proper aluminum dust cap, and the speaker has a full, robust sound with no voice coil rub and incredible articulation. Cosmetically, this amp is an absolute stunner which has likely lived its life in the studio, due to the absence of any notable cosmetic wear. The stock smooth black tolex is exceedingly clean, and the original silver sparkle grillcloth has only aged sparingly, with lots of sparkle left in the thread. The original hardware is all intact and clean, with only the faintest patina on a couple of the corners and on the original Pat. This is a collector-grade and well maintained vintage Fender Vibroverb, ideal for the stage, studio and discerning player! The original two-button Reverb/Vibrato footswitch is included. 1959 Fender Tremolux Vintage Tweed Tube Amp 100% Original with Jensen P12Q & Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1959 Fender Tremolux amplifier in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the stock “doorstop” wooden footswitch. One of the most tonally distinctive and sweet sounding amps of Fender’s late 1950s “narrow panel” Tweed era, the Tremolux essentially combined the tonal richness and dynamic, touch sensitive circuit of a 5E3 Deluxe with a bias-based footswitchable tremolo. Powered by a pair of 6V6 power tubes, this Tremolux has the same harmonic content, smooth tube breakup and glassy tone of a Deluxe, but the significantly larger open back cabinet on a Tremolux gives the tone more depth, low end and roundness overall. Like any four-input Tweed Fender, the magic really happens when you jumper the two channels and use the independent Volume controls to dial in the perfect amount of clarity and grit. With the addition of Fender’s earliest tremolo circuit (a bias based design that essentially turns on/off the power tubes to create the effect), the Tremolux is a versatile and impressive amp, delivering a trem circuit with a strong pulse and good range of speeds. The circuit is completely stock and untouched, with all of the original yellow Astron tone caps in the preamp, along with the original pots, carbon comp resistors, and cloth wire. Even the original Mini Mite Astron caps are present, along with the stock gray two-prong power cable. All of the original transformers are intact with late’59 date codes, and the pots date to the 50th week of’59 as well. The chassis itself is particularly clean, with chrome plating that has ample shine and virtually all of the original white silkscreen lettering intact. The original chickenhead knobs are all present as well. The speaker is the original Jensen P12Q, rated at roughly 35 watts and the perfect match for the output of the Tremolux which is decidedly more modest than what the speaker can handle. The teal frame is quite clean, with clear date stamps, intact bell cover and original Jensen label. The tube chart is also present on the inside of the cabinet and a particularly nice example, with an “IL” date stamp that translates to December of 1959. All of the original hardware is intact including the elusive leather handle. Other stock hardware includes the “Tremolux” badge on the face and four sphinx glides (feet) on the bottom. The original tweed is intact and as the photos show, it is in particularly nice shape, with sparingly little wear around the corners. The original oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe is also intact and well preserved and this is a particularly tidy vintage example with tweed that has aged to a light shade of amber. This Tremolux is a clean, no-excuses, collector-grade example with a stock circuit, clean chrome faceplate, original tweed, and stock brown single button wooden footswitch. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! The circuit is very original, with stock Schumacher transformers that have date codes spanning late 1966 and early’67. The preamp is loaded with the full compliment of the original blue Ajax molded capacitors, a key ingredient in the dynamic, musical tone of Fender’s Blackface amps. The power amp has been professionally recapped with Sprague Atoms, and the smaller bypass caps and bias cap have been replaced to ensure optimal operation. The CTS pots date back to the 26th week of’66 and the tube chart is intact with an “QD” date code which translates to April of 1967. The Oxford 12K5-6 speaker is original as well, dating to the 32nd week of’66. Cosmetically, the amp is very clean, with stock smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. 1966 Ampeg Gemini G-12 Vintage Tube Amp Clean & Stock with Vintage Tube Set, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1966 Ampeg Gemini G-12 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Remarkably clean and original with a complete vintage tube set and stock two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch, the Gemini G-12 is a two-channel affair with a warm and detailed range of tones. The cleans are robust, with great headroom and sparkling, snappy sounds that were designed with the Jazz player of the day in mind and tweaked for maximum fidelity. At full volume, the amp does push into smooth tube overdrive with some sizzle and roar, and the onboard effects are particularly noteworthy. As the company that pioneered onboard Reverb in their combo amps, it’s no surprise that this Ampeg’s iteration of this effect is lush and full with plenty of splash and great decay. Not to be outdone, the tremolo has a thick, choppy quality, and both effects are easily accessed via the included original footswitch. The circuit is virtually untouched, with original transformers that date to’66 and CTS pots which also date to the 15th week of the same year. Not a solder joint is out of place and the original green Cornel Dubilier caps are all present in the preamp. The speaker is the original Jensen C12Q with a clean blue frame, original foil label on the magnet bell, and date code from the 15th week of’66. The tube chart is also intact inside the cabinet. In terms of the tube compliment, the amp is outfitted with the original Sylvania-made and Ampeg-branded 6V6s along with ostensibly the entire original preamp tube compliment. Cosmetically, this amp is a real stunner with a faceplace so polished and clean that it made it difficult to capture the details of the original white silkscreened graphics which are completely intact along with the original set of knobs. The blue diamond checker covering is also exceptionally well kept and paired with the original silver sparkle grillcloth. Even the original leather handle is still in one piece! The original Oxford speaker also dates to 1965 with the original blue foil Fender label on the magnet and a fresh recone. Cosmetically, the amp is very original overall, with stock smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. There is moderate aging of the grillcloth and some minor scuffs around the edges of the tolex as well as one small cigarette burn on the top. The original hardware is all present including the chassis straps, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), corners, and raised Fender logo on the baffle. The original faceplate is also quite clean with stock witch hat knobs. This is a very original and well maintained example of one of Fender’s most famous Blackface amps, complete with the original two-button footswitch. 1970 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Silverface Vintage Tube Amp Oxford 10L5 with Ftsw

Up for sale, an early 1970 Fender Vibrolux Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced early in the Silverface run, this amp still has many of the hallmarks of the earlier Blackface design and circuit-wise is identical to the “drip edge” amps that preceded it. Tonally, the amp does everything you’d expect of your favorite Vibrolux Reverb, with a balanced, sparkly clean tone and just the right amount of headroom before giving in to smooth tube saturation and overdrive. There’s a reason why the Vibrolux is currently one of the most collectable and sought after vintage Fender amps, as it’s ideal for recording and also the perfect size for club gigs without overwhelming your bandmates. The balanced tone of the two 10 ceramic speakers, matched with a tube rectified 6L6 based circuit simply can’t be beat! Add Fender’s famed tube driven reverb and tremolo on top and you have one of the best tube amp designs ever conceived. The original Schumacher transformers date between late 1969 and early 1970 and the circuit has been serviced with new filter caps and bias cap to ensure that everything is operating as it should. All of the original CTS pots are present as well, and the amp has been upgraded with a heavy duty modern three-prong power cable. The speakers are a pair of era correct Oxford 10L6 10 ceramic speakers which are freshly restored. These speakers have cleaned and repainted black frames, new Fender blue foil labels, and professional recones. The tubes consist of a variety of newer and vintage preamp valves as well as a matched pair of Groove Tubes/Sovtek 6L6s. Cosmetically, the amp is very clean with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The black tolex shows very little wear, and all of the stock hardware is intact. There is moderate wear on the silver aluminum faceplate, with some light scratches, but all of the text is bold and present, as well as the blue trim around the knobs. The original Fender metal logo (with tail) is intact on the face of the amp, along with the stock sphinx glides (feet), corners, and handle caps. The original two-button footswitch is included. Up for sale, a 1962 Ampeg R-12R Reverberocket in exceptional condition and perfect working order with notably clean “Navy Random Flair” tolex, the original Jensen P12R speaker, and stock amp cover. Under the oversight of Ampeg by founder Everett Hull, Ampeg guitar amps were geared towards jazz guitarists who wanted clean headroom and zero breakup, but according to former Ampeg employee Ken Fischer (long before starting his own company Trainwreck Amplifiers), there was one model that “slipped through the cracks”, and that was the R-12R Reverberocket. This amp has a fantastically spongy feel with plenty of chewy compression, thanks is large part to the octal preamp tubes (6SN7s and 6SL7s in this case), and picking dynamics are glorious, particularly when the amp is cranked to “edge of breakup” tones. The Reverberocket boasts footswitchable bias-based tremolo, along with onboard reverb (the first amp to do so, predating Fenders Vibroverb by a year or two), which is thick and lush without sacrificing clarity. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced with new capacitors in the preamp to keep everything working within original factory spec. The transformers have been swapped out in favor of Mercury Magnetics “Tone Clone” USA made iron, and the power supply has been professionally recapped to ensure that the amp is operating optimally. The original CTS pots date to mid 1961, the schematic on the inside of the back panel is dated March, 1962, while the Jensen speaker dates back to the last weeks of 1959. The preamp tubes are all “Ampeg” branded valves made by Sylvania and are a combination of original tubes and vintage stock sourced so that the tube set could be uniform, and these vintage tubes are an essential part of the incredible tone of this amp. The power tubes are a pair of newer JJ 6V6s. The reverb tank is a factory-spec replacement, and a three-prong power cable has also been installed. The chrome faceplate is near mint, with all of the original white silkscreened text intact as well as stock knobs. On the inside of the cabinet, the original tube chart is intact and the original Jensen P12R 12 alnico speaker sounds fantastic, with warmth, detail, and clarity. The original Navy Random Flair tolex is near mint aside from one scuff on the back panel, and still retains a good concentration of the silver sparkles that often flake off over time. The stock metal corners, feet, leather handle and raised Ampeg logo are also intact. This Ampeg would make a great option for anybody that wants a gigging or recording amp that gives up the goods without being earth-shakingly loud! The original two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch is included along with the original dark blue vinyl amp cover with white piping. 1971 Fender Super Reverb Vintage Silverface Tube Amp Near Mint with Cover, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1971 Fender Super Reverb in near mint, collector grade condition and in perfect working order. Complete with its original Victoria Luggage vinyl cover, two-button footswitch, schematic, and Fender catalog, this Super Reverb is as nice as they come. Serviced only sparingly to ensure optimal tone and reliability, this amp has been reverted to Pre-CBS AB763 specs. Able to deliver huge cleans and incredible power like few other Fender’s can, this Super Reverb is loaded with its original quad of CTS alnico speakers. The amp is dynamic, detailed, and able to hold its own in any ensemble, boasting both lush tube driven spring reverb and a vibrato circuit that has a wide range of speeds and everything from a subtle pulse to machine gun chop. The circuit is very original, and all of the stock Schumacher transformers date to the first weeks of 1971. All of the CTS pots are stock as well (also dating to early’71) and the preamp is virtually untouched aside from new grid resistors and a couple bypass caps to keep everything operating within factory spec and as designed for the AB763 circuit. The main filter caps have been replaced with high quality Sprague Atoms to ensure years of future trouble-free use and the amp has been fitted with a three-prong power cable. The power tubes are a pair of vintage 7581s which are a more robust version of a 6L6 able to deliver more headroom and handle higher plate voltages. The preamp tubes are an assortment of mostly vintage valves by RCA and General Electric. The original CTS speaker quad features minty black stamped frames, 1971 date codes, and original blue foil Fender stickers on the alnico magnets. Three of the speakers retain their original cones, and the fourth has been professionally reconed with identical parts for a consistent tone. The tube chart is intact on the inside of the cabinet with crisp corners and only lightly aged paper. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are near mint, as is the original silverface faceplate with flawless turquoise text. All of the stock hardware is accounted for including the chassis straps, corners, handle caps, tilt back legs, raised “Fender” logo, and sphinx glides (feet). The amp comes complete with its original Victoria Luggage cover. This cover shows some loose stitching and wear along the bottom third of the cover, and the “Super Reverb” text is faded, but present. The two-button footswitch is extremely clean, as is the included manual, schematic, and envelope for the paperwork (stamped “SR” in the corner to mark the amp model) are in great shape.
