Good sound, tested on CD and vinyl. Volume, bass treble ok. There are stains inside the device but does not affect the sound quality.

Decent cosmetic condition for its age. Chrome face does have little scratches that are not visible in the posted pic. Very cool looking and hard to find amp. Vintage Grommes Model 40PG Tube Hi Fidelity Amplifier Amp Rare Works. See all 12 pix. Watch Video on YouTube here. This is a working unit. I have gone over it, in and out. Lightly cleaned and dusted. De-oxed all controls and jacks. Pot Controls all work as they should. The power button on front didn’t work. So a switch was installed on the back of unit. Powered up and tested on aux and tuner inputs and it has good audio on both channels. Didn’t notice any hum but if you are planning to use this unit as a daily player you will want to replace all the Electrolytic capacitors. Has a few issues here and there like the fuse holder in the back is partly loose and one of the auxiliary power outlets in back is loose also. That’s about as far as I went on this unit. Very cool-looking little Grommes LJ-2 mono vacuum tube amplifier from mid-1950′s, sounds sweet! Supplied with full tube complement and Howard Sams Photofact Folder, this “Little Jewel” (that’s what “LJ” stands for) could use a little TLC, mainly from a full power capacitor replacement. All tubes tested good, except one section of the 6SL7 was slightly low (did not appear to affect sound). Brought up very slowly with a variac, the unit did not misbehave, and drove an 8-ohm speaker nicely with about 10 watts, just a little scratchy on the volume control.
