1960 Fender Deluxe Tweed Pre-CBS Narrow Panel Vintage Tube Amp 5E3, Jensen P12R

Up for sale, a 1960 Fender Deluxe in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Few circuits are more desired and emulated than the narrow panel Tweed 5E3, and this amp delivers everything you’d expect from a classic and well cared for amp from the last iteration of the Tweed line. Incredibly dynamic and harmonically rich, the Deluxe can be glassy and clear at low volumes, but for most players the magic is in this amp’s overdrive capabilities. Especially when connecting the two channels with a small jumper 1/4 cable, the interactive pair of Volume controls can dial in everything from fully saturated roar and snarl, to the particular sweet buzzy qualities with ideal midrange bite that you often times can’t coax out of any other Tweed circuit. This amp reacts well to a host of effects pedals and different guitars, but truly shines with the guitar plugged straight into the amp, using your volume knob to coax clean rhythm tones and singing leads with the twist of a knob. The circuit is extremely original, freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with new Sprague Atom filter caps and smaller electrolytics. The full complement of original yellow Astron caps are intact in the preamp, with original Stackpole pots which date to the 6th week of’60. The original transformers are intact, with a Triad power transformer and a Schumacher output transformer, dating to the 24th week of’60. The amp is loaded with a full vintage tube set too. The speaker is the original Jensen P12R alnico 12 driver with a very clean teal frame and a recent recone. This speaker dates to the 30th week of’59, and retains the original speaker harness with cloth covered wire and stock 1/4 input as well. The tube chart is intact and crisp with one missing corner (where the date stamp would typically be located), and thankfully the chassis itself retains the identical “JJ” stamp, translating to October of 1960. The chrome on the chassis is incredibly clean, shining like few Tweeds still do with all of the original white text present along with stock chicken head knobs. In similar condition, the original tweed shows light ambering, with some minor requisite scuffing on the edges of the cabinet and some staining and wear on the lower corners. Both back panels are original as well, as is the oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe, while the leather handle is a modern replacement. This Deluxe is an example that will satisfy collectors and serious players alike, and the amp has recently been given a clean bill of health, ready for your next gig or studio session. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1955 Fender Princeton Tweed Small Box Vintage Class A Tube Amp 5E2, 1x8 Jensen

Up for sale, a 1955 Fender Princeton in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This narrow panel Tweed amp is the particularly rare “small box” example only offered in 1955, with a more compact enclosure identical to the Champ. The flawless tube chart and matching two digit P00057 serial stamped on the chassis speak to the early nature of this model, being the 57th narrow panel Princeton ever produced. The original tweed is uniformly ambered and very well-kept, and is one of the rarest and most unique golden-age Fender amps to come through our shop of late. The circuit couldn’t be more simple and pure, with single Volume and Tone knobs and a Class A circuit design, powered by a single 6V6 power tube. The tone is articulate, dynamic and commanding, with the sizzle and churning overdrive of a Champ, but greater ability to sculpt the tone. The top end response is just right, and the amp doesn’t get too trebly, with a nice wooly warmth and reconed original Jensen 8 speaker, making the Tone control quite usable and giving the circuit the ability to handle ample low end without sounding loose or over-burdened. The circuit is 100% original, with untouched solder joints save for a substituted era-correct two-prong power cable The circuit retains its original Triad transformers, and the original Stackpole pots, carbon comp resistors, and red “dynamite” Astron capacitors are intact. Visible codes on the Stackpole pots dat3 to the 43rd week of 1954. All of the original caps both in the preamp and power supply are still functioning as intended, a testament to the longevity of Fender’s amps and component choices. The tubes are all vintage valves include a vintage RCA 5Y3, Hytron 6V6 power tube, and a UK-made 12AX7. The speaker is original and a particularly rare alnico Jensen, stamped “EE” just to the right of the magnet, matching the identical stamps on the chassis and tube chart. The tube chart is notable for its well-preserved condition, with perfect corners, handwritten serial number, and “EE” date stamp which translates to May of 1955. The tweed is 100% original with light, uniform ambering, and some minor staining below the grillcloth, attributable to “bleed out” from the original rivets pinning the tweed. There are also two small holes on the upper back panel from a removed, non-original cable wrap. The original leather handle is intact and incredibly clean, as is the gleaming chrome faceplate with original silkscreen text and chicken head knobs. This amp is a true rarity given its condition, and this particular example has been carefully tested and inspected to ensure originality and ideal functionality. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1954 Fender Deluxe in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The precursor to the narrow panel 5E3 circuit, this 5D3 “wide panel” Deluxe is an exceedingly well-kept and very original example, complete with the original transformer compliment and Jensen P12R speaker. Incredibly dynamic and harmonically rich, the Deluxe can be glassy and clear at low volumes, but for most players the magic is in this amp’s overdrive capabilities. Especially when connecting the two channels on the three input circuit with a small jumper 1/4 cable, the interactive pair of Volume controls can dial in everything from fully saturated roar and snarl, to the particular sweet buzzy qualities with ideal midrange bite. This amp reacts well to a host of effects pedals and different guitars, but truly shines with the guitar plugged straight into the amp, using your volume knob to coax clean rhythm tones and singing leads with the twist of a knob. The circuit retains the original Triad transformer pair, and the chassis is remarkably clean, The preamp features original red Astron “dynamite” capacitors, Stackpole pots, and carbon comp resistors, with modern premium USA-made filter caps and smaller electrolytics to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The amp is loaded with a complete set of vintage RCA tubes including a matched pair of 6V6s. The speaker is the original Jensen P12R alnico 12 driver with an extremely clean dark green frame. This speaker dates to the 46th week of’54, and retains the original speaker harness with cloth covered wire and stock 1/4 input as well. The other most pertinent date code is the “DL” stamp on the very clean tube chart, which translates to December of’54. The chrome on the chassis is incredibly clean, shining like few Tweeds still do with all of the original white text present along with stock chicken head knobs. In similar condition, the original tweed shows modest ambering, with some minor requisite scuffing on the edges of the cabinet and on the corners. Both back panels are original as well, as is the oxblood grillcloth and even the original leather handle. This Deluxe is an example that will satisfy collectors and serious players alike, and the amp has recently been given a clean bill of health, ready for your next gig or studio session. A vintage-style slip cover is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1965 Silvertone 1485 Vintage Danelectro USA-Made 6x10 Tube Amp with Jensen C10Q

Up for sale, a 1965 Silvertone model 1485 piggyback tube amplifier in excellent condition, freshly serviced and in perfect working order. A vintage USA-made amp crafted by Danelectro for Sears’ house brand Silvertone, the amp features the original dolly and sextet of matching Jensen C10Q speakers, loaded with a new properly biased small bottle Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tube quad. The 1485 as advertised by Silvertone pushes a whopping 120 watts, but stripping away the marketing, this amp functions closer to 100 watts via the power tube quad. Extremely powerful and articulate, these amps have much more headroom, punch, and top end response than the smaller 1484, and can produce both bold cleans and roaring overdrive. The smooth articulate crunch of this model has found favor with players across the spectrum, and it responds very well to pedals too. Both channels feature a pair of inputs (high and low) and both channels share the built-in Reverb and Tremolo effects. While the Tremolo has a nice strong pulse that gets quite thick and deep, the Reverb is infamous in its own right for its thin, trashy sound that’s perfect for lo-fi and surf tunes, with a unique gain structure and chiming top end character. The circuit has been thoroughly overhauled by our in-house techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and the amp is a robust, gig-worthy machine, featuring a fully recapped power supply while retaining a bevy of original capacitors and carbon comp resistors. The stock output transformer is intact, while the power transformer is a heavy duty replacement, along with a modern Heyboer choke. The original CTS pots date back to the 32nd week of’65. The speakers are a particularly clean sextet of original Jensen C10Q 10 drivers, with minty black frames and 1965 date codes. Two of the speakers feature brand new cones, while the other four are original. All of the original barrel knobs are intact on the polished aluminum faceplate, which also retains all of the original black silkscreen text. The amp retains its original charcoal covering which shows some honest wear on the edges of the cabinet and head enclosure, and the original grillcloth has plenty of sparkle in the gold thread. The head secures into the back of the cabinet with the original swiveling nylon tabs, and even the original dolly is included, secured to the bottom of the cab. The original two-button footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Blackface Vintage 2x10 Tube Amp AA864 with Jensen C10N

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender Blackface models for its ideal size and power, performing well both on stage and in the studio with shimmering Fender cleans and smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive when you push the amp towards 10 on the volume dial. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has smooth attack and tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube Reverb and punchy Tremolo. The preamp is 100% original, save for a new bias cap to regulate the power tubes, retaining a full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient in the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Blackface circuits. All of the original transformers are intact, manufactured by Schumacher (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the’60s) and dating to 1965. All of the original CTS pots are intact too, with visible date codes from’65, matching the chassis stamp. The power supply has been professionally recapped with Sprague Atoms. The Jensen 10 speakers are a matched pair of vintage drivers with clean black frames and foil stickers on the ceramic magnets, factory spec for this model yet dating to’66. These speakers are the perfect pairing for the Vibrolux circuit, offering Jense’s hi-fi clarity and articulation. The tube chart is intact, with a faded “OE” date stamp which translates to May of 1966. The pair of brand new Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tubes are optimally biased, with a vintage RCA 5AR4 rectifier and an array of modern and vintage preamp tubes from the likes of Amperex and General Electric. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, with sparingly little tolex wear and uniform aging of the grillcloth. The hardware includes the full compliment of witch hat knobs (with a couple vintage substitutes), raised Fender logo, handle caps, chassis straps, corners, and sphinx glides (feet). 1960 Fender Concert Pre-CBS Brownface Vintage Tube Amp 5G12 with Jensen P10Q

Up for sale, a 1960 Fender Concert in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. The very first iteration of the Concert offered, this amp has strong ties to the Tweed-era Fender amps which were being phased out concurrently with this example. The feature set includes Triad transformers, a quad of original Jensen P10Q alnico speakers, a 5G12 circuit with five tube preamp, early pinkish brown tolex and oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe, and the unusual factory-plugged “pulse adjust” hole on the back panel for an extra control Fender omitted from the circuit after the panels had already been printed. The combination of the Brownface 5G12 circuit and four matching original P10Q Jensen speakers is truly something to behold. The amp delivers sweet, dynamic clean tones with incredible sparkle and a certain high fidelity clarity noticeable as soon as you strum your first chord. Turn it up past 5 and the amp starts to smoothly overdrive with just the right amount of bite and the complex midrange bark that makes Fender’s Brownface amps the perfect middle ground between the growl and attitude of Fender’s Tweed amps and the glassy shimmer of the Blackface era. The EQ controls have an incredible wide sweep, and this amp is uncommonly warm for any Fender, never feeling too bright or brittle, with a focused bass register and ample headroom. The second channel boasts the Harmonic Vibrato circuit, which was the only Fender “Tremolo” circuit to ever have a true pitch shifting effect, with deep pulsating warbles. The circuit is virtually untouched save for a couple swapped component values to ensure optimal functionality of the vibrato and proper tube bias. The Triad output and power transformers are intact, with a Schumacher-made choke that dates to the 11th week of’60. The amp retains all of original yellow Astron molded tone caps in the preamp, central to the sweet, musical sound of Fender’s Brownface-era circuits, and visible codes on the CTS pots date to the 8th week of’60. The original Astron Minimite filter caps are all still intact and functional too, and the amp retains its original gray two-prong power cable. The Jensen P10Q speakers are the original matched quad, extremely valuable in their own right with particularly clean teal frames, original bell covers, and minty Jensen foil stickers. The dates on the edges of the frames are from the 14th week of’60, and the frames are also stamped with mini “JD” stamps, identical to the date stamp on the tube chart, translating to April of 1960. The original pinkish brown tolex and oxblood with gold stripe grillcloth are intact and in remarkable shape. There is a single minor cigarette burn on top, some staining on the sides from sap, telegraphing the knots in the solid wood enclosure, and some minor wear on the bottom of the enclosure including small caster mounting holes. The original chassis straps, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and flat “Fender” logo are all in great shape and present, and even the original “dogbone” handle is intact (although it does show signs of minor splitting). This is an extremely rare Fender Concert in stunning, original condition, produced very early in its Brownface production run. 1958 Guild Masteramp 66-J Vintage 1x12 Tube Amplifier Tweed Jensen P12Q 6V6

Up for sale, a 1958 Guild Masteramp model 66-J, recently serviced and in perfect working order. One of the earliest tube amps produced by Guild, this tweed wonder shares many similarities with the narrow panel Fender Deluxe, with a dual 6V6 output stage and 5Y3 rectifier, dual triode preamp tubes, four input design, and alnico Jensen 12 speaker. The tone is warm, dynamic, and clear, with a surprising amount of headroom and just enough overdrive to deliver ideal bite and smooth saturation when you dime it out. The bias-based tremolo circuit has a nice strong pulse as well, and the original wedge footswitch for activating the effect is included too! Produced for only a few short years when the Guild guitar company first came into existence, the Masteramp 66-J is quite rare and was made in-house at their factory in Hoboken, New Jersey. While there is some credence to reports that Ampeg supplied Guild with certain elements of their amp builds, the tonal response is more analogous to Fender amps of the era. The circuit is very original, with stock transformers, and a complete recap of the main power supply as well as a few caps in the preamp to keep the amp operating within original factory spec. The stock Centralab pots are all intact and date to the first weeks of 1958. The power tubes are a fresh pair of Electro Harmonix 6V6s, along with a vintage USA-made 5Y3 rectifier and combination of modern and vintage preamp tubes. The speaker is an era-correct Jensen P12Q that has ideal headroom and a near mint blueish green speaker frame with the original Jensen foil sticker on the magnet bell. The original two-tone tweed and brown leatherette covering is intact, with wear along the edges of the enclosure and on the bottom of the cab in particular. The original oxblood grillcloth is intact too, with distinctive “spaghetti” swirls, and a modern leather handle has been installed. The chrome chassis retains the majority of the white silkscreen lettering, the chrome still has plenty of shine with minimal pitting, and the stock Dakaware knobs are present. Up for sale, a 1958 Fender Harvard in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The Harvard is a unique model, sitting just below the Deluxe in terms of output with two 6V6 power tubes pushing 10 glorious all-tube watts through a Jensen P10R speaker. The Harvard also has the distinction of being the only Tweed era Fender model name to not make the transition to subsequent Brown and Blackface amp series. Offering a similar tone stack to the Tweed-era 5E3 Deluxe, yet with a single-triode 6AT6 powering the initial gain stage and a class AB fixed bias design unique among Fender’s Tweeds, the Harvard delivers on the promise of sweet tube saturation and the extremely dynamic, harmonic-rich tones which are a hallmark of the narrow panel tweed Fender amps. Outfitted with simple Volume and Tone controls, the amp has quite a bit of muscle, surprising headroom, and a bold bass register that belies its size, pushing into lightly compressed overdrive with plenty of sizzle and grit beyond 5 on the Volume dial. The cabinet size (noticeably bigger than the Champ and Princeton) adds a certain low end fullness to the tone as well, with great bloom to the notes and a richness that’s particularly evident when played with a humbucker-equipped guitar. The 5F10 circuit is extremely clean and well-maintained, with new Sprague Atom filter caps and smaller tubular caps in the preamp as well. The original Stackpole pots are intact, dating to the 38th week of’57, and the amp retains its original jacks, carbon comp resistors, and cloth-covered leads. The original Triad open bell output transformer is intact, while the power transformer is a boutique faithfully wound modern clone furnished by Mercury Magnetics. The faceplate has plenty of shine, with some requisite pitting of the chrome, yet with the majority of the original white silkscreened lettering intact. The speaker is an era-correct Jensen P10R with a very clean teal frame, stock foil label on the alnico magnet, and date code on the edge of the frame from 1959. The tube chart is present and quite clean as well, denoting the 5F10 circuit and also still featuring a cleanly stamped “HA” date code, which translates to January of 1958. The original lacquered tweed is intact and lightly ambered. A well-kept example, this amp shows some modest scuffing and edge wear consistent with age. The leather handle is original, and the original Fender Harvard badge is intact. The Harvard is commonly referenced as the “Steve Cropper amp, ” having been used extensively by that artist to capture the tones heard with Booker T and the MGs on tracks like Green Onions, and on other notable hits like Otis Redding’s Dock of the Bay. Fender’s 1×10 Harvard certainly does not disappoint and is the perfect stage and studio secret weapon.
