1970 Marshall Super Lead 100 – 100W Guitar Tube Amplifier Head – Vintage. Up for sale, a 1970 Marshall Super Lead 100 in great condition and perfect working order. The Marshall Super Lead 100 is previously used and exhibits light signs of cosmetic wear which is normal for its age i. Presence knob missing gold cap and ohm ratings etched into the backplate. Also, the bottom of the head was tagged by previous owner with spray paint. The amplifier has been well maintained and serviced regularly. The heads produced under the JMP label from 1968 – 1972 are considered by many to be the high water mark of vintage Marshall amps. While brushed gold metal faceplates replaced the true Plexi faceplates in mid-1969, the Plexi sound remained the same and became even brighter and louder through the early 70s. For those looking for vintage Marshall sound without paying the Plexi premium, specimens from 1970 – 1973 are great candidates. Serial Number – SL/A 7346A. 4, 8, 16 Ohms. 1970 Marshall JMP 50W 1987 Lead amplifier head with original Red finish. This is a stunning amp that sounds out of this world. The original red finish makes it a truly rare find. The service history is not known but there are zero issues and everything works perfectly. It currently has all vintage RCA tubes, including 3x 12AX7 preamp and 2x RCA 7207A power tubes. It has the “rosemary” signature on the inspection tag. Still has the original two-prong power cord, so the front polarity switch is still useful. There is zero static in any of the controls when adjusting. The red covering has typical minor scuffs and scrapes throughout. The handle works perfectly. The gold hardware has some light patina. All lettering on the Metal Face control panel is visible. It is missing the rear grill cover. Made in England 1989 (inspection sticker on side of chassis dated “20-1-89″) AOR Series Pro-50 50-watt Tube head. These are great sounding, well built heads, similar in. Design to Marshall, their British counterparts. Founded in the 1960′s by Lyndon Laney (who used to jam with Robert Plant and John Bonham) they are. Not as well known as Marshall but they built a loyal following over the years including Tommy Iommi (for whom they built a special model/series) Randy Rhoads, Vinny Moore, George Lynch, Ace Frehley, Paul Gilbert, Andy Timmons, George 5 and Joe Satrianni. This should speak of their quality. I could see why as this is a more versatile amp, with a push-pull boost knobs on the bass, middle and treble knobs and also on the preamp knob. No tears in the tolex, minor wear, one foot missing and a little waviness in the label behind the pre-amp knob but overall in great shape for a head that is over 30-years old as the prior owner took excellent care of it. Additionally, in full disclosure the potentiometer shaft on the preamp knob was broken at some point in the past about halfway out. I was able to insert a shim into the knob and screw it down and the knob turns smoothly and functions properly including the push-pull feature. The tubes have not been changed for years as they sound fine and make no microphonic noise. After you receive it. I did open this amp up to spray out the potentiometers and took some pics while I was in there. See how nice and clean it is inside and h. Ow clean the Sovetek 6550WA and ECC883 preamp tubes are with plenty of silver left on top. Hard to date these amps based on serial numbers but these are known to be 80′s amps and the “Skot” output tranformer has a “89″ date code. The head could be more recent but (with some exceptions) amplifier manufacturers don’t usually stockpile a lot of transformers so the amp was most likely built in 1989. I also have a matching cabinet listed separately. Will pack well in a guitar box. Note my +1000 perfect feedback so you do have the option of returning.
