Vintage 1968 Fender Princeton AA964 Drip Edge/Black Line Tube Amp (Non Reverb)

Up for sale is this vintage Fender Princeton non-reverb, which is a good example of the transitional “drip edge/black line” model found in limited numbers during the late 60s. These models are highly sought after as they contain the same circuitry as its black face predecessor, as well as many unique cosmetic markings, which are only found during this transitional period. This particular Princeton Non-Reverb features the following. · Drip Edge the aluminum trim framing around the grill cloth. · Black Line – Note the thin vertical black lines on the faceplate This denotes a Princeton Amp which retains the same circuitry as its Blackface predecessor. · Tail-less logo – this logo was used on a limited number of Fender Amps during the above-mentioned transition period. These logos can be distinguished from later tail-less logos (post 1973) by their smaller size, plastic composition, and no serial number on the back. · Vertical blue stripes added to the grill cloth Grill cloth. Additionally, this is the Non-reverb model which is known for having cleaner headroom, as the lack of the reverb effect introduces less gain into the circuit, allowing the amp to be clearer and punchier, with a sound that has sparkle and chime indicative of the Blackface line and perfect for recording situations. · Model # AA964. · Serial # A 10601. · Ink stamp on inside of Chassis: T89 1268. · Black Transformer: 290 AX JS1867 – 3711 (see pictures). · Gold Transformer: 8316720 May 1967 made by Better Coil & Transformer. · The visible codes on the original CTS pots date to the 42nd week of 66. · The Speaker is a CTS with a code of 137 7220. The condition of this rare Non-Reverb model can be seen throughout the pictures, and it is in excellent working order. It has recently been serviced by local technician referred by Guitar Emporium in Louisville KY. Note: I have researched this amp as thoroughly as possible and have described it as accurately as possible. I will pack the amp as safe as possible and will use thick cardboard with foam & bubble wrap to ensure that it arrives to you safely. Up for sale, a 1971 Ampeg SVT tube bass amplifier head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Ampeg debuted the Super Vacuum Tube “SVT” amplifier in the summer of 69 at the Chicago N. This amp was a milestone design, utilizing 300 watts of all-tube power specifically geared for larger venues, cementing its place in the live world as the defacto standard backline stage rig. An original Linden, New Jersey made example with blue line cosmetics, this SVT has been serviced and maintained to play its best, with rich, authoritative, articulate low end, ample warmth, and distinctly smooth Ampeg tone. This SVT boasts a new matched sextet of 6550 JJ power tubes and has been serviced as needed, with a full recap of the power supply, as well as a hard-wired three-prong power cable and 1/4 speaker cable. A fan has been mounted too, ensuring the amp doesn’t overheat with the incredible voltage of the six power tubes. The Electrical Windings Company power transformer and filament transformer have matching date codes that read the 12th week of 1971, and the original output transformer is intact as well. The original CTS pot codes date to the 51st week of 1970. Cosmetically, this amp is in great shape with original smooth black tolex and original grill cloth. The grill cloth has aged uniformly, and the tolex is in very good condition overall with some light wear around the edges and on the bottom of the enclosure. The faceplate is very clean, retaining all of the original knobs and the distinct blue line screen print graphics. A padded flight case is included. Sounds great on rhythm or lead guitar too, even with my novice abilities. The more I play it, the more I want to keep it. I only hooked up an Xotic RC Booster and an EHX Cathedral pedal to it in the last few months with a cheap strat copy and I’m still in disbelief of the tones I was getting, I didn’t want to stop playing. It was very inspiring. On with the listing. I’m guessing whoever replaced the power cord forgot to put the plastic shroud on the fan but it doesn’t affect it working properly and is included. I’ve misplaced the screws for the back over the years but have found some that do the job nicely. Has new knobs on the front. Tested everything but the external amp and external speaker jacks and seems to be working great. I’ve never had any issues with it so far. Hasn’t been used much in the last 8-9 years but has been stored in my pet and smoke free home just mostly collecting dust as you can see from the pics. Sounds awesome although it looks rough. 6550 tubes glow nice and I think have plenty of life left. Has the appropriate 10 amp fuse which has never blown. Looks like the original schematic is tucked away inside the head. The power cord is old and worn and should probably be replaced.
