This Fender Tube Amplifier appears to be in very good condition considering it’s age. Everything looks to be original. The speaker is the original and works fine. I had this amplifier on my bench to clean and inspect. The volume and tone potentiometers and on/off switch have been cleaned and checked. Everything is working as it should. Up for sale, a 1970 Fender Musicmaster Bass 1×12 tube amplifier in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, featuring the original matching RCA tube set. While designed as a companion for the Fender bass of the same name, this Class A/B 6AQ5-powered tube amp has found favor with guitarists for its low wattage and sweet, dynamic tone. The open back cab and single 12 ceramic speaker produce a range of sounds from clean Fender sparkle to rich overdrive with the twist of a knob. Particularly valued for their usefulness in the studio, the Musicmaster Bass is one of the most popular and enduring circuits from the Silverface era. The circuit has just been gone through by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, and everything is working as it should, with the original RCA-branded 6AQ5 power tubes. Both the output and power transformers have 1970 date codes. The 12 CTS speaker has a very clean frame, original cone, and original round Fender label, with a date stamp on the edge of the frame from the 16th week of 1970. Cosmetically, the amp is quite clean and completely original, with stock smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe. On the polished aluminum faceplate, all of the blue lettering is present, and the original raised “Fender” logo is intact on the grill. All of the original hardware is present, including the rare Starcaster-style knobs only seen on the first iteration of this amp. Sure, there are a few small scuffs on the tolex and faint wear on the grill, but overall this is a very clean amp that would look great on stage or in the studio. 1970′s Fender Musicmaster bass guitar tube amp, works great! . I believe it is a 1973 model, based on the numbers on the transformer. Made in the USA.. I just recently acquired it. I hooked it up and played through it for two hours, everything works as it should, it sounds awesome. I read somewhere where these were rated at 12 watts of output. It’s pretty loud for 12 Watts, I’m just going to say that. In overall good shape structurally. No cracks or breaks anywhere, just some scuffs on the tolex, but it’s not an eyesore These are less popular as a bass amp than they are as a blues guitar amp. 1973 Fender Musicmaster Bass tube amp modified with a vintage 15 Jensen speaker, and modern grounded plug. 1/28/2018, just had this amp recapped and new photos show the new parts and a plastic bag with the old parts. It sounds absolutely amazing. The baffle was replaced before I aquired the amp and is particle board, painted black. The speaker is a tight fit and the amp is rather light for its components. It sounds amazing and that speaker provides a marvelous thump and growl with P90′s, and intense warm lows with single coil pickups. There is a sweet spot between 6 and 8 with beautiful breakup. It sounds cool dimed, but too fuzzy and brown for my taste. It has a baby deluxe vibe before it starts to really overdrive. Great amp, great size.
