Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Princeton Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch. A clean and early Blackface example with a Fender Electrical Instrument Co. Faceplate and no-logo cabinet, the Princeton Reverb is the perfect amplifier for small club gigs and studio sessions, delivering both well-balanced, sparkling cleans and smooth, harmonic rich overdrive at higher volumes. The Reverb is extremely lush and the Tremolo has a nice pulse with a wide range of speeds. The chassis retains all of the original Schumacher-made transformers (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the Blackface era), with date codes from the 2nd to 28th weeks of’65. Aside from a modern three-prong power cable and new bias capacitor, the circuit is virtually untouched, boasting all of the famed blue molded Ajax tone caps which are an essential part of the sweet and musical character of Fender’s Blackface preamps. The original CTS pots are all intact as well, with visible date codes from late 1964. The power tubes are a pair of matched Groove Tubes 6V6s, and the preamp tubes are all matched Groove Tubes valves as well. The faceplate is clean, with the Fender Electric Instrument Co. Text that would disappear mid-year with Fender’s CBS buyout. The knobs are mostly original as well, with two slightly newer knobs for the tremolo controls. The original Oxford 10J4 ceramic magnet speaker is intact, with a clean black frame, Fender blue foil sticker on the magnet, and date stamp on the frame from the 15th week of’65. The tube chart is completely intact and quite clean too, with a “OH” date stamp which translates to August of’65. As the photos show, the original black tolex has weathered the decades well, with only a few very minor nicks and scuffs and wear on the two front bottom corners. The amp has a brand new birch ply baffle, replacing the original MDF, and this new baffle has been fitted with genuine’60s Fender silver sparkle grillcloth. All of the original hardware is present including the chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides. The original two-button footswitch is included. 1962 Fender Deluxe Brownface Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Guitar Amp 1x12 with Oxford 12K5

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Deluxe tube amplifier in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Manufactured in the beginning of the brief Brownface era, this amp has a very original 6G3 circuit, only serviced as needed for optimal performance. Providing a perfect middle ground between the warmth and dynamic range of the Tweed amps that preceded it and the clarity and chime of the Blackface amps that would be introduced a couple years later, this Deluxe offers everything from rich and mellow tonalities to twangy and crystalline bite at the turn of a knob. The bias based tremolo circuit is deep and throbbing, with a very smooth waveform and a tone that has an almost three-dimensional quality. It’s truly one of the best examples of this classic Fender effect! The circuit features the original Schumacher output transformer which dates back to the 49th week of 1960, while the power transformer is a USA-made boutique Mercury Tone Clone drop in transformer, faithfully replicating the original. The chassis itself is remarkably clean with limited oxidation and general wear. The Stackpole pots are all intact and the preamp features the full compliment of original blue molded Ajax tone caps. The original bypass caps in the preamp and larger filter caps have been replaced with modern Spragues, and the new caps have been neatly sleeved in their original Astron brown wrappers. The tube compliment includes a vintage pair of matched General Electric 6V6 power tubes, with an Amperex 5AR4 rectifier and a combination of vintage and modern valves in the preamp. The stock Oxford 12K5 speaker is intact with a minty frame and date code from the 4th week of 1962, also retaining the exceedingly rare brown metal bell cover for the magnet and Fender foil sticker. The speaker has also just been professionally reconed. Inside the cab, the original tube chart is fully intact too, with an “LE” date stamp that translates to May of 1962. Cosmetically, this amp is remarkably clean, with original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth. The original chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also intact, and the faceplate is positively gleaming, retaining its full compliment of brown barrel knobs. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1960 Magnatone Custom 250 Vintage Tube Amp 1x12 with Oxford 12L5, Vibrato, Ftsw

Up for sale, a 1960 Magnatone Custom 250 tube amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. A rarity in any condition, this vintage Magnatone is 100% original aside from a couple capacitors swapped to keep everything operating within original factory spec. Even the tube set is a complete vintage compliment from the likes of RCA, General Electric, Amperex, and Sylvania. One of the cooler and less common mid-size Estey-era Magnatone amps, the 250 boasts a single 12 alnico Oxford 12L5N speaker powered by a pair of 6973 power tubes. The characteristics of the 6973 valve are similar to the more common EL84, with a smooth midrange character and dynamic breakup at higher volumes with perfect top end bite. Whether you’re looking for surfy hollow twang or surprisingly thick overdrive, this Magnatone easily supplies a range of classic tube driven textures. Magnatone’s legendary frequency modulated pitch shifting vibrato effect is present on the Custom 250, with a width and warble unequalled in tube amp design. This vibrato circuit is in one word “lush, ” and while it functions in mono inside the speaker cabinet, a 1/4 extension speaker jack allows the effect to bounce back and forth between two cabs if desired. The vibrato can be engaged via the included original “doorstop” footswitch. The point-to-point circuit boasts the original Schumacher transformers which date to the 34th and 36th weeks of 1960. The original blue molded Ajax capacitors in the preamp have a smooth and musical character, and are the same caps at the heart of Fender’s Blackface era circuits. Other date codes of note include CTS pots which date to the 31st week of’60 and the original Oxford 12L5N speaker which dates to the 40th week of 60. The faceplate is notably clean, with all of the stock knobs and graphics present. The original smooth brown leatherette covering is in remarkable shape, and while the corners show some customary light wear and scuffs, the amp presents very well. The brown and gold grillcloth is similarly clean, and the original Magnatone logo is intact with a slightly bent chevron wing. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1961 Fender Concert Brownface Pre-CBS Vintage Tube Amp with Oxford 10K5, Near Mint

Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Concert in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with a vintage footswitch and cover. This Concert is time capsule clean cosmetically, incredible sounding, and complete with a quad of Oxford 10″ 10K5R-1 alnico speakers with long brown metal “Fender bell covers. The combination of the Brownface 6G12-A circuit and four very rare alnico Oxfords is truly something to behold. The amp delivers sweet, dynamic clean tones with incredible sparkle and a certain high fidelity clarity that is noticeable as soon as you strum your first chord. Turn the amp up past 5 and the amp starts to smoothly overdrive with just the right amount of bite and the complex midrange bark that makes Fender’s Brownface amps the perfect middle ground between the growl and attitude of Fender’s Tweed amps and the glassy shimmer of the Blackface era. The EQ controls have an incredible wide sweep, and this amp is uncommonly warm for any Fender, never feeling too bright or brittle, with the perfect amount of midrange and focused low end. The second channel boasts the Harmonic Vibrato circuit, which was the only Fender “Tremolo” circuit to ever have a true pitch shifting effect, with deep pulsating warbles and a wide range of speeds. The circuit is very clean and original, with stock transformers that date to mid-1961, as well as a full compliment of original yellow Astron and blue Ajax molded tone caps in the preamp. The original Astron Minimite filter caps are still intact and functioning as intended, while the smaller bypass and bias caps in the preamp have been swapped in favor of parts within factory tolerances and sleeved in their original Minimite wrappers. The pots date to mid-1961 and are all stock except for one replacement for the Vibrato Speed knob, with the new pot providing an ideal taper. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage USA-made small bottle Tung Sol 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are all vintage valves from the likes of Sylvania and Amperex aside from one new JJ tube. The Oxford 10K5R-1 speakers are a matched quad, and the elongated brown metal bell covers (only used on the first alnico magnet versions of the 10K5) are an extremely rare and cool accent used for only a matter of months by Fender. Beneath the bell covers, the alnico magnets have date stamps from the 18th week of’61. The tube chart is fully intact on the bottom of the cabinet (the common placement for many of the earliest Brownface amps), with crisp corners and an “KD” date stamp from April of 1961. The original rough brown tolex and oxblood grillcloth are intact and in remarkable shape. As the photos show, the tolex and grill show sparingly little wear, and this amp is a great candidate for any collection or studio. The speaker frames and bell covers are exceedingly clean, consistent with the chassis itself and the Brownface faceplate. The original chassis straps, nickel corners, sphinx glides, and flat “Fender” logo are all in great shape and present. The original dogbone handle is present too and still clings to the handle mounts, although there are splits on the undersides of the handle (a new dogbone is also included). This is an extremely rare Fender Brownface Concert in stunning, original condition, complete with a vintage single-button footswitch to engage the vibrato. The amp also comes with a rare dark green cover, ostensibly original, and while different from the more common Victoria-made covers, we have seen this much rarer cover material on more than a couple early Brownface amps. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1964 Fender Bassman 6G6B Blonde Brownface Vintage Piggyback Tube Amp Oxford 12M6

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Bassman in near mint, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. The last iteration of the 6G6-B Bassman circuit, this Brownface Bassman features original smooth blonde tolex, gold sparkle grillcloth and a black faceplate with cream barrel knobs (although the circuit is still of the earlier Brownface design). 100% original aside from new main filter caps and grid resistors, the amp is loaded with a full compliment of ostensibly original tubes, with a matched pair of gray plate 6L6GCs with very low hours. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brownface circuits respond well to picking dynamics with Fender’s hi-fi, glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a huge range and after around 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into very rich tube overdrive with smooth compression that enhances note attack. It’s the kind of natural tube saturation that only comes from pushing a well designed Fender circuit to its limit. A Pre-CBS Fender Blonde Bassman was used on more Beatles recording sessions than the Vox AC30, was a particular favorite of Pete Townshend, and has become the amp forever linked with Brian Setzer’s classic Rockabilly tones. It’s hard to beat the Bassman for a tone that bridges the gap between the warmth and nuance of the Brownface circuits and the shimmery cleans of the Blackface line. The chassis shines like new and the preamp is virtually untouched, with all of the original blue Ajax tone caps, carbon comp resistors, cloth-covered wire, and Stackpole pots that date to late’63. All of the original Schumacher transformers are intact with very clean bells, dating between late’63 and the first weeks of 1964. New filter caps have been sleeved into the original wrappers, providing a clean, original look and guaranteeing optimal performance. The tube chart is fully intact on crisp, unfaded paper, with a bold “ND” date stamp which translates to April of’64. The speaker cabinet had likely never been opened prior to the photos taken for this listing, with all of the original fiberglass baffling intact, as well as a pair of near mint Oxford 12M6 speakers with early’64 date codes on the black frames. The wiring inside the cab is untouched, and both speakers retain their original cones. Cosmetically, this is the cleanest 6G6-B Bassman we’ve ever had in the shop, and both the head and cabinet retain their original transitional smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, a combination only seen for a matter of months in early’64. Aside from a few light scuffs on the edges of the speaker cab, there’s virtually no wear to report. All of the original hardware is intact and is positively gleaming, including the tilt-back chrome legs, piggyback clip bars and thumbscrews, logos, and nickel corners. This is a no-excuses, collector-grade 6G6-B Bassman loaded with a full compliment of original tubes, stock speakers, and an extremely original circuit. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb Vintage Tube Amp Blackface FEIC AB763 with Oxford 12K5

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb, very original and freshly serviced, complete with the original two-button footswitch. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb was produced in the first full year of production for this model, with a “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate, rare no logo grill, and date codes firmly placing this amp in the Pre-CBS era. Stocked with a matched pair of fresh Electro Harmonix 6V6 power tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has a sweet, balanced sound that delivers the top end sparkle and clarity characteristic of the best amps from Fender’s Blackface era. This amp is very dynamic, working as a perfect platform for effects pedals and while the treble response can twang with the best, there’s a smoothness to the top end that keeps the amp from ever sounding harsh. Turning it up past 4 on the volume dial, the amp begins to push into overdrive territory with light compression and plenty of sizzle. The Reverb is very lush with long decay and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. The circuit is very original and only serviced as strictly necessary to ensure optimal playability. A bevy of original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp (an essential part of the Blackface sound), and all of the original CTS pots are intact as well, dating to mid’64. The original Schumacher transformers date between the 31st and 33rd weeks of’64. The power supply has been professionally recapped, and the smaller bias and bypass caps in the preamp have been replaced as well, sleeved in their original hollowed out Astron wrappers. A three-prong cable has been installed too. The tube chart is present, with an “NI” date code which translates to September of 1964. The speaker is the original Oxford 12K5-6 with a clean black frame and date code from the 39th week of’64. One of Fender’s (and Oxford’s) rarest speakers, the 12K5-6 was only used in the Deluxe Reverb and this speaker has been recently reconed. Cosmetically, the amp is complete with the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The grillcloth has aged moderately since’64 and the Blackface faceplate shows very little wear with all of the black witch hat knobs intact. The tolex shows some wear at the corners corners along with some requisite stray nicks and scuffs, and overall this amp presents well. All of the original hardware including the corners, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet) and logo is present. The original two-button footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1963 Fender Concert Brownface Pre-CBS Vintage Tube Amp with Oxford 10K5, Near Mint

Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Concert in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order. This Concert is extremely clean cosmetically, incredible sounding, and complete with a quad of Oxford 10″ 10K5-5 ceramic speakers with brown plastic “Fender bell covers. The combination of the Brownface 6G12-A circuit and four Oxfords is truly something to behold. The second channel boasts the Harmonic Vibrato circuit, which was the only Fender “Tremolo” circuit to ever have a true pitch shifting effect and sounds incredible, with deep pulsating warbles and a wide range of speeds. The circuit is very clean and original, with stock transformers that date between late 1962 and early’63, as well as a full compliment of original Ajax blue molded tone caps in the preamp. The original filter caps have been upgraded with new Sprague Atoms to keep the amp operating within original factory spec, and the bypass and bias caps in the preamp have also been swapped in favor of parts within factory tolerances. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage USA-made Sylvania 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are a combination of newer and vintage valves. The Oxford 10K5 speakers are a matched quad, and the stamped brown plastic bell covers are an extremely rare and cool accent used for only a matter of months by Fender. The speakers have date codes between late 1962 and early’63. Two of the speakers retain their original cones, while the other two have been freshly reconed. The tube chart is fully intact inside the cabinet with crisp corners and an MB date stamp from February of 1963. The original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth are intact and in remarkable shape. The only replacement hardware on the amplifier is a newer rubber dogbone handle (much more reliable than the original handle for an amp of this weight). This is an extremely rare Fender Brownface Concert in stunning, original condition. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Deluxe in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Featuring the famed AB763 circuit and Pre-CBS features including the “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate and early no-logo cabinet, this amp has an incredible amount of headroom and power, something that instantly sets it apart from its reverb equipped brother. Since the addition of the reverb effect into the Fender circuit essentially adds another gain stage, the non-reverb Deluxe really stands out as Fender’s premier 1×12 Blackface combo amp, with incredible warmth, EQ balance, and clarity. Perfect as a platform for pedals and an ideal amp for studio use, this Deluxe captures the quintessential Fender clean sound, with smooth tube overdrive and a hint of compression at higher volumes. The tremolo has a strong, even pulse as well, with a wide range of speeds. The circuit is extremely original, and the stock Schumacher-made transformers date to Spring of’65. The filter caps and smaller bypass caps have been replaced with top-tier Sprague components to keep everything operating within original factory specifications, and the circuit is otherwise untouched, with all of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps intact in the preamp. These caps are essential to the rich, musical quality of the Blackface-era circuits. The CTS pots are all stock as well and date to the 12th week of’65. The power tubes are a pair of vintage matched gray plate RCA 6V6s which have been biased to perfection and sound particularly good, along with a vintage 5U4 rectifier. The preamp tubes are a combination of newer and vintage valves, all working as intended. The speaker is a vintage Oxford 12L6 with a clean black frame and original blue foil Fender label on the magnet. The original tube chart is intact and particularly clean, with an “OF” date code that translates to June of 1965. The amp also is from only the 2nd production run of the Blackface Deluxe, making it a notably early example. Cosmetically, this is an extremely clean and well cared for amplifier, with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. As the photos show, the tolex is extremely tidy and the faceplate is quite clean as well, with a set of minty witch hat knobs. This Deluxe would look great in a studio and is an example that will satisfy players and collectors alike. Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Deluxe Reverb, very original and freshly serviced. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb was produced early in the second full year of production, with a “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate, rare no logo grill, and date codes spanning the last weeks of the Pre-CBS era and subsequent buyout. Stocked with a matched pair of fresh JJ 6V6 power tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. All of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps intact in the preamp (an essential part of the Blackface sound), and all of the original CTS pots are intact as well, dating to late’64. The original Schumacher transformers span late’64 and very early in 1965. The power supply has been professionally recapped, and the smaller bias and bypass caps in the preamp have been replaced as well. A three-prong cable has been installed too. The tube chart is present, with an “OD” date code which translates to April of 1965. The speaker is a vintage, era-correct Oxford 12K5-6 with a clean black frame and the original Fender blue foil label on the magnet. One of Fender’s (and Oxford’s) rarest speakers, the 12K5-6 was only used in the Deluxe Reverb and this speaker retains a very clean, original cone. Cosmetically, the amp is complete with the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The grillcloth has aged moderately since’65 and the Blackface faceplate shows very little wear with all of the black witch hat knobs intact. The tolex shows some wear at the corners corners along with some requisite stray nicks and scuffs and a single cigarette burn on the top, and overall this amp presents well. A logo was added to the grill and subsequently removed, showing a very faint outline of its placement, and an extra set of feet was installed on the bottom of the enclosure. All of the original hardware including the corners, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet) and logo is present. A modern two-button footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Deluxe tube amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order with a complete vintage tube set. Manufactured near the beginning of the Brownface era, this amp has a well maintained 6G3 circuit, providing a perfect middle ground between the warmth and dynamic range of the Tweed amps that preceded it, and the clarity and chime of the Blackface amps that would be introduced a couple years later. There’s an incredible range to the tone controls on this amp, and everything from rich and mellow sounds to twangy and crystalline bite is available at the turn of a knob. The bias based tremolo circuit is deep and throbbing, with a very smooth waveform and a tone that has an almost three-dimensional quality. It’s truly one of the best examples of this classic Fender effect! The preamp has been professionally recapped, and the power supply features new Sprague Atom filter caps as well to ensure that the amp is operating reliably within original factory spec. The original Schumacher output transformer is intact and dates to the 46th week of’61, while the power transformer is a vintage replacement. The CTS pots date all the way back to late 1959, and the circuit retains the original carbon comp resistors and cloth covered wire. The amp features a complete vintage tube set, with a matched pair of RCA 6V6s, a USA-made Tung Sol 5Y3 rectifier, and Tung Sol and Amperex valves in the preamp. The power cable is a modern three-prong variety as well. The stock Oxford 12K5 speaker is intact with a clean frame and date code from the 43rd week of 1961. Inside the cab, the original tube chart is partially present too. Cosmetically, this amp is clean as can be with original rough brown tolex and the original leather handle. The original baffle board has been professionally regrilled with modern wheat grillcloth. The original chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also intact. If you’re looking for a Deluxe that can be reliably gigged while also being original in the ways that count, this is an ideal example with a complete vintage tube set!
