Up for sale, a 1980 Fender Princeton Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. One of the very last genuine vintage examples from the original Silverface era of production, this Princeton Reverb has been freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. The perfect amplifier for small club gigs and studio sessions, the Princeton’s circuit delivers both well-balanced, sparkling cleans and smooth, harmonic-rich overdrive when you dime it out. The Reverb is lush, and the Tremolo has a nice pulse with a wide range of speeds. The circuit retains the original pair of transformers manufactured for Fender by Schumacher, dating between late 1979 and the first weeks of’80. The preamp boasts a full complement of original blue molded capacitors, with a few new Sprague electrolytics to ensure optimal performance. The larger multi-section can cap in the power supply is still functioning as intended too. All of the original pots are intact, with visible date codes from the 50th week of’79. The tubes consist of a matched pair of JJ 6V6s with an JJ 5U4 rectifier and a bevy of modern valves in the preamp. The speaker is an era-correct Oxford 10J4 with a black frame and blue foil Fender label on the magnet. The speaker retains the original speaker harness as well, complete with the original speaker jack with Fender “F” cap. The tube chart is mostly intact. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with orange stripe are present and notably well-kept. The original faceplate has plenty of shine with a full complement of witch hat knobs, and the hardware includes original chassis straps, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and small raised Fender tail-less logo. This vintage Princeton Reverb works exactly as it should, sounds great, and is ready for another 40 years of use. Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Vibro Champ, freshly serviced and retubed. This little Blackface-era Fender wonder delivers five watts of pure Class A tube tone. A gutsy amp with the original alnico 8 speaker, this Vibro Champ has just the right amount of glassy, sparkling clean tone before pushing into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive at about 4 on the Volume knob. Dynamic, responsive, and absolutely huge sounding when you put a microphone in front of it, it’s hard to beat the Vibro Champ for pure simplicity and great tone. And of course, Fender’s lush sounding tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and wide range of speeds, perfect for subtle shifts in volume or machine gun chop. The circuit has been freshly and thoroughly serviced, with new Sprague Orange Drop caps in the preamp and a few smaller Sprague electrolytics as well. The resistors are a combination of original carbon comps and low-noise modern metal films, and the multi-section can cap in the power supply is also new, along with a new three-prong power cable. All work was done with the aim of providing a roadworthy, studio-ready Vibro Champ with the best possible signal-to-noise ratio and tonal response. The stock Schumacher-made power transformer is intact, dating to the 46th week of’66, while the output transformer is a properly spec’d replacement. The pots are mostly original, with visible date codes from the 29th week of’66. The tube chart is present with a clear “QD” code which translates to April of 1967, rounding out the applicable dates. The tube compliment includes a new JJ 6V6 power tube and 5Y3 rectifier, as well as a couple Mullard 12AX7s. The speaker is the original Fender-branded Oxford 8 with a clean blue Fender foil label on the alnico magnet. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, along with both original back panels. The original faceplate shows some minor pitting and is complete with a full compliment of stock witch hat knobs. The hardware includes modern handle caps and chassis straps, while the sphinx glides (feet) and raised Fender logo on the grill are original. Fully serviced in-house here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this Vibro Champ is an ideal example of Blackface tone, ready for stage and studio use. Up for sale, a 1971 Ampeg SVT tube bass amplifier head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Ampeg debuted the Super Vacuum Tube “SVT” amplifier in the summer of 69 at the Chicago N. This amp was a milestone design, utilizing 300 watts of all-tube power specifically geared for larger venues, cementing its place in the live world as the defacto standard backline stage rig. An original Linden, New Jersey made example with blue line cosmetics, this SVT has been serviced and maintained to play its best, with rich, authoritative, articulate low end, ample warmth, and distinctly smooth Ampeg tone. This SVT boasts a new matched sextet of 6550 JJ power tubes and has been serviced as needed, with a full recap of the power supply, as well as a hard-wired three-prong power cable and 1/4 speaker cable. A fan has been mounted too, ensuring the amp doesn’t overheat with the incredible voltage of the six power tubes. The Electrical Windings Company power transformer and filament transformer have matching date codes that read the 12th week of 1971, and the original output transformer is intact as well. The original CTS pot codes date to the 51st week of 1970. Cosmetically, this amp is in great shape with original smooth black tolex and original grill cloth. The grill cloth has aged uniformly, and the tolex is in very good condition overall with some light wear around the edges and on the bottom of the enclosure. The faceplate is very clean, retaining all of the original knobs and the distinct blue line screen print graphics. A padded flight case is included.
