Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Showman in excellent condition, complete with the matching 1×15 “Tone Ring” piggyback speaker cabinet and original JBL D130F speaker. The amp boasts a full compliment of modern valves, including a quad of properly biased Ruby 6L6s, and this Showman has a sound that is powerful, clear, and sparkling. As Fender’s flagship amp boasting a whopping 85 watts of all tube power, the Showman is a real powerhouse for guitar, bass, or your favorite Fender Rhodes or combo organ. The low end is ample and thick, and the amp has plenty of headroom and efficient clean power until about 6-7 on the Volume knob where things start to compress and overdrive. Fresh back from our techs and ready for another half century, this Showman is dialed in for stage and studio use. One very unique and desirable feature of the Showman is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This large 1×15 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone with a stock JBL D130F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This elegant design makes the Showman cab work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. Plus it just looks so impressive! The speaker cabinet retains all of its original fiberglass sound dampening sheets and the D130F sounds incredible with a professional recone. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced and is very original, with a virtually untouched preamp save for a few small electrolytics. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are intact with a sweet, musical tone that’s a hallmark of the Blackface sound. The original power transformer is intact, dating to the 18th week of’65, while the output transformer and choke are genuine vintage Fender transformers substituted later in the amp’s life and dating to 1970. Other important date codes include the CTS pots, with visible date codes from the 12th week of’65. The power supply has also been professionally recapped, and the tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet too, with an “OE” date stamp that translates to May of 1965. This amp sports the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. All of the hardware is intact (with the exception of new back panel screws on the cabinet), including chrome tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars, handles, corners and raised metal Fender logos on both the head and speaker cabinet. The amp shows some nicks and scuffs around the edges of the enclosure, and the grill on the head and cabinet has aged uniformly. The original one-button footswitch to engage the Tremolo is included. All original packing must be included. Up for Sale is a. Vintage 1965 Fender Showman All Tube Head Amp! This is really cool. You are looking at a Vintage 1965 85 Watt Fender Showman “Blackface” All Tube Amp Head. The Fender Showman was introduced in 1960 and discontinued in 1993. This is an early model Pre CBS “Blackface” model with the original Blackface AB763 circuit. Fender used the AB763 circuit from 1963 to 1967 and than changed to the Silverface circuit AB568 in 1968. This is the circuit when a “Blackface” Mod is done. This is the “Right” one. This is the Iconic Blackface. Dick Dale the legendary Godfather of “Surf Music” was enlisted by Fender as a Test Pilot to help develop the Showman Amp. Dick Dale has frequently spoken of his role in the development of the Showman, and boasts of having blown up nearly 50 amplifiers before Fender achieved a design that could take his heat. Whether or not the seminal surf guitarist exaggerates, his claims encompass the ambition of the Showman. The keys to creating the bigger, stronger, and louder amp required lay primarily in two major ingredients; a new output transformer (OT) and a new speaker cab design. The result is a nearly indestructible amp. Showman amps are revered for their big, sparkly clean tone. As you turn the amp up the cleans turn smoothly into that classic Blackface grind. With lots of neutral clean headroom, the amp makes a great platform for pedals as well. This amp is a great player, and you will be hard-pressed to find a modern amp of similar quality without spending thousands more. Sparkling, bright, clean sound with lots of headroom. If you are into Surf, Country, Rock or even Jazz, this amp will perform to your expectations. Our amp tech serviced this amp for the sale. He cleaned all pots, jacks, switches and tube sockets. All transformers and pots are original. See Date Codes below. Power Transformer: #606.538. Choke Transformer: #606.538. Output Transformer: #606.517. Keep in mind that this is a 54+ year old vintage amp that has been used. Tolex in good shape but with an amp of this age there are always some scuffs, scratches and minor tears. Chrome chassis brackets and handle have some pitting and discoloration due to age. Grill cloth has faded and is a delightful yellow patina again due to age. No rips or tears. Up for sale, a 1966 Fender Dual Showman in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced very early in’66 where the Dual Showman still simply said “Showman” on the faceplate, this Dual Showman boasts a pair of flawless and original JBL D140F 15 speakers with original cones as well as two matched pairs of RCA and General Electric-branded 6L6GC power tubes. This amp was the absolute top of the line Fender amp in its day, and still an ideal choice for guitar, bass, or amplifying your favorite vintage electric piano or combo organ. For pristine, sparkling Fender Blackface clean tone, you can’t get any bigger or badder than the Dual Showman, and the amp delivers 85 pure tube watts. The cleans are clear, focused and warm, with a percussive clarity and cut that pairs perfectly with Fender’s single coil pickups and interacts equally well with a warm pair of humbuckers or P-90s. The low end can be dialed in to perfection, with some sweet low-midrange on tap, and a deep, pulsating tremolo as well. The circuit is clean and very original, with a virtually untouched preamp that retains all of the famed blue molded Ajax tone caps that are a hallmark of the Blackface sound. Even the original compliment of filter caps is still intact and viable. All of the original Schumacher transformers (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the Blackface era) are intact dating between late’65 and the first weeks of 1966. The CTS pots date to late’65 as well. The Blackface faceplate is in great shape, with all of the original witch hat knobs present. The tube chart is clean and intact inside the head, noting the amp’s AB763 circuit and “PD” date code which translates to April of 1966. Both JBL 15 D140 speakers are original to the amp, and everything inside the cab is 100% straight. Both JBLs have their original “29675″ cone codes, and both ribbed cones are in great shape with original aluminum dust caps. The gray speaker frames and JBL labels are virtually flawless, and all of the original fiberglass baffling is intact inside the cab too. With their heavy duty alnico magnets and 4 voice coils, these speakers perfectly replicate Fender clean tones with little to no speaker distortion. Both the head and large 2×15 speaker cabinet retain their original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, and all of the original hardware is intact too, including the raised Fender logos on both head and cab, chrome tilt-back legs, piggyback clip bars and thumbscrews, nickel corners, chassis straps, and handle caps. Cosmetically, the head and cab show only light wear with and some nicks, scuffs, and dings in the tolex and light surface patina on the hardware, but no serious wear. Given a full checkup by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and one of the straightest examples we’ve come across in years, this Dual Showman boasts original JBL D140 speakers, vintage power tubes, and an extremely original circuit with stock transformers. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1962 Fender Vibrasonic Vintage Pre-CBS Tube Amp Brownface 1x15 JBL D130, Showman

Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Vibrasonic in excellent condition and in perfect working order, with a 100% original circuit and tube set. The flagship combo amplifier of Fender’s Pre-CBS “Brownface” era, this amp delivered 40 powerful, articulate all-tube watts through a single JBL D130F speaker. Along with the Showman, the Vibrasonic was the first Fender to be paired with the hi-fi tones of a JBL, and the Vibrasonic shares an identical chassis with the Showman too (albeit with two 6L6s instead of four). The Vibrasonic features Fender’s unique “Harmonic Vibrato” circuit, and this complex design was Fender’s only true pitch shifting vibrato offered in an amp. Swampy, thick, and very Leslie-esque, it’s a three dimensional, full-bodied tone unlike any other Fender vibrato. The perfect middle ground between the dynamic, saturated tones of the earlier Tweed era amps and the clarity and shimmering cleans of the later Blackface line, this Vibrasonic has a very warm and nuanced sound, with absolutely giant transformers that keep the low end thick and focused. The 6G13 circuit offers EQ controls that have a very wide sweep for everything from classic hollow twang to warm, sweet sounds that will delight any Jazz player. Given the JBL D130F speaker, there’s plenty of clean headroom on tap, but once you get above 5 on the volume dial the amp cascades into raucous, touch-sensitive overdrive. Perfect for guitar, bass, or keyboards, this is a versatile amp that pairs well with just about anything from the era! The circuit is completely original with stock Schumacher transformers that date to late’61, and the circuit is bone stock, with all of the original blue molded Ajax and yellow Astron tone capacitors which are extremely musical sounding and a crucial part of the magic in Fender’s Pre-CBS preamps. The complete set of original Astron filter caps are also intact and still functioning as intended, and the original gray two-prong power cable is intact too. Inside the cabinet, the “LC” stamp on the tube chart conclusively dates production to March of 1962. In terms of the all original tube compliment, this amp features a pair of General Electric 6L6s, as well as a preamp tube set of matching Amperex and General Electric valves. The speaker is an original JBL D130F with a near mint frame and original cone and 21057 cone code. The original harness is intact with cloth wire and a plain metal cap on the 1/4 jack. Cosmetically, this Vibrasonic is a clean example that would look great in a studio. The original rough brown tolex and wheat grillcloth are present and both the faceplate and backplate are in remarkably clean condition. The original flat Fender logo, brown barrel knobs, and nickel corners are present. The molded plastic “dogbone” handle is a modern replacement. The underside of the cabinet had at one time been fitted with casters which have been subsequently removed, and there are a few light scuffs on the edges of the enclosure. This Vibrasonic is very clean and original, with an untouched circuit, complete vintage tube set, and the stock one-button vibrato footswitch.
