Up for sale, a 1968 Fender Bassman head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This clean and well maintained vintage Fender head has transitional “drip edge” aluminum trim and an early Silverface faceplate, as well as the AA568 circuit. Recently retubed and biased with a pair of Sovtek 6L6 power tubes, this amp has a clear, powerful Fender tone that’s ideal for use with guitar or bass. The perfect platform for players who use a variety of pedals, the Bassman delivers a robust and dynamic tone, and after around 5 on the Volume dial the amp starts to push into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive. The circuit features original Schumacher transformers that both date to 1968, along with original CTS pots which also date to’68. The circuit features a professional recap of the power supply, as well as a new bias capacitor and a couple new caps and resistors in the preamp to ensure everything is operating within original factory spec. An additional knob was at one time added to the faceplate and subsequently removed, filled with a clean chrome plug. A three-prong power cable has been installed as well. The chassis itself is quite clean, with a stunning silverface faceplate, turquoise lettering, and original black witch hat knobs. The original tube chart is also present inside the head cabinet, with only the light wear on the top left edge. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with turquoise stripe are intact and in great shape, and the stock aluminum trim is present as well. The stock corners, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet) are also intact, while the piggyback clip bars are no longer present. Cosmetically, there is very little wear to report, with a few tiny scratches near the input jacks and a light scuff or two on the enclosure, but as the photos show, this is an extremely clean and well cared for vintage Fender Bassman head! Except for the electrolytic capacitors which were replaced with top quality Sprague capacitors, all other amp components are, to my Amp knowledge, original. The amp is in very good working condition. Speakers are original for the amp. Original foot switch is included in the sale. Casters are original Fender issued. Up for sale, a 1973 Fender Bassman 50 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The direct descendent of the “Bassman” model, the Bassman 50 was introduced in 1972 to differentiate it from Fender’s expanding Bassman lineup (including the Bassman 100 and Bassman 10). This amp has a clear, powerful Fender tone that’s ideal for use with guitar or bass. Delivering enough headroom, muscle, and clarity to be a perfect pedal platform when paired with the included 2×15 enclosure, the amp stays clean until around 5 on the Volume dial when it cascades into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive. The circuit is very original, with a preamp that’s untouched save for a new resistor on the bias pot. The original compliment of Schumacher-made transformers date to 1973, and visible date codes on the CTS pots also date to’73. The power supply has been recapped, and the amp functions as it should, with some surface rust on the bottom of the chassis. The amp boasts a full vintage tube compliment, with 6L6s that bias well together (branded Magnavox and GE), and preamp tubes from the likes of RCA. The tube chart is also intact inside the head cabinet. The speaker cabinet is the correct 2×15 used on both the Bassman 50 and Bassman 70 models, dating to 1975. The cabinet is extremely clean, complimenting the head well and loaded with the original Utah-made speakers with heavy duty square ceramic magnets, blue foil Fender labels, and dates on the edges of the frames from the 39th week of’75. Both the head and cab retain their original tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth, with the earlier turquoise stripe on the head and orange stripe on the cabinet cloth. Loaded with a pair of unusual and early Eminence/Fender ceramic 12 drivers and a near complete set of original RCA tubes, this amp lives up to its reputation for having the most formidable, glassy, and balanced clean tones a tube amp can provide. Perfect not only for guitar, the Twin is an excellent choice for any scenario where headroom is a must, performing equally well with a pedal steel or your favorite Rhodes piano. The circuit is untouched, right down to the original power supply caps, and all of the original Schumacher transformers date between the 26th and 29th weeks of 1973. All of the original CTS pots are present as well, dating to’73. The chassis has a clean faceplate and full compliment of original knobs. The tube compliment includes three RCA 6L6s in the power section with one substituted Realistic-branded valve that does the part to round out the quad, while the preamp is outfitted with the full set of original matched RCA valves. Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is intact, and the pair of Eminence-manufactured 12 speakers have clean brown/gold Fender labels on the ceramic magnets, with clean black frames and viable cones. These speakers are a prototypical pair for Eminence, aping the look of the earlier Jensens seen in Fender’s Blackface-era Twins, yet undoubtedly original, given the matching 1973 date stamps on the edges of the frames. The smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth is quite clean, as is all of the original hardware, save for an MIA set of tilt-back legs. Vintage Fender Pro Reverb tube amp, silver face, has two 12 inch Jensen speakers, original Fender foot switch. This amp was not abused, always transported carefully, played moderately(as in not cranked–classic country band) in gigs for 20+ years. No modifications, it has been serviced as tubes needed replaced but all original. Has the casters for easier transport (it weighs in at a hefty 70 lbs) and a custom cover. It is not nicked, beat up, scratched. When it hasn’t been played for a while, the volume knob crackles a bit. Same owner for 40+ years. Vintage 1970′s Fender Silverface Champ All tube amp…. This amp is special. About This Listing This amp is a masterpiece, a really really special Champ. It has been carefully restored by one of Austins finest vintage amp restorationists, to revive and capture the magical tone of Fenders finest vintage amps. Meticulous attention to detail was paid, down to the selection of vintage cloth wire, vintage leaded solder, and a broken in Weber speaker with matching specs to the original Jensen speaker, to ensure the original sound and full tonal potential of this amp is reached, and even exceeded to be closer in sound to a Black Face or Tweed Era Champ. This amp has the original caps, as they still test to original voltages, and are good. This Champs cabinet is actually a real-wood upgrade from the original Particle Board one that came stock. Its a sturdier, more robust cab that actually performs better too, as the resonant qualities are superior with stronger, finger-jointed wood. This cabinet is more like that of the original Fender Tweed and Black Face Era amps, than even stock CBS Silver Face Era Amps. So, in essence, this amp sounds more like an older Fender than even a completely original Silver Face Drip Edge Fender Champ. Ive played many older Fender amps, including original tweed, etc. Models, and this amp absolutely stands with the best Ive ever heard. It has a fiery punchy bass and mid response that is really surreal to hear coming from such a small package, with golden buttery chimey highs that are never harsh, even with a strat and the treble on 10.
