For sale is a 1968/69 Traynor YSR-1. This amp is from the late 60′s. Its transformers look to be from 1968, but there is no database to decipher Traynor serial numbers(most info appears to be about YBA-1 amps which have a different system of serial numbers). Its serial number is S71306, so those that know more about Traynor history can weigh in. This YSR-1 has a choke which means it’s from the pre 1970 changeover to amps that no longer use a choke & have a totally different cabinet. The late 60′s version of the YSR-1 has the dual indicator jewel lights that go from red for Standby to green for Operate(on). The amp is missing the original Traynor faceplate, otherwise it’s in very good cosmetic condition. The earlier Traynor logo often broke, so many of 65-70 Traynor amps no longer have them. Some people often compare the YSR-1 to the more well known Traynor YBA-1, but they behave totally different in real world usage. For sure the tone stack isn’t quite the same. While the YBA-1 is based on a Bassman 5F6A, the YSR-1 seems closer to a 6G/”Brownface” type amp. The preamp of the YSR-1 has greater top end clarity with a bit less overdrive than the Traynor YBA-1. As a result, the YSR-1 is a great amp to use as a pedal platform. I own both YBA-1 & YSR-1 amps and prefer the YSR-1 a bit more to the YBA-1. The Traynor YSR-1 features 6 12AX7 preamp tubes with a pair of EL34 power tubes. The amp has an 8 ohm output with a power spec of 45-50 watts RMS. The amp features an Ampeg like reverb mixed with a Vox type pulsing tremolo. The amp has a burly & robust tone that ranges from an excellent clean sound at lower volumes to a biting overdrive when it’s pushed hard. This amp has been modded to have a master volume. The first two volume controls function as a pre-amp gain & master volume respectively rather than separate volume controls for Input 1 & 2. I thought about taking it back to stock, but this master volume mod makes the amp far more versatile. The amp can be set to have a bit more preamp gain that gives more shades of overdrive at lower volumes that many clubs ask bands to play at. Like an older Marshall, the two YSR-1 channels can be jumped to give the amp a fuller sound. In this instance t. He normal(1) & bright(2) inputs are jumped to give both signals at the preamp gain pot. Jumper cable will be included. I had the amp checked out by a tech a couple of months ago and it passed all tests. The circuit board still has many of the Philips “Mustard Caps” that are similar to the Mullard variants that were used in early Marshall amps. I have played the amp a bunch for the past couple of months and really do like this amp. I own 2 dozen amps, so something has to give. I used this amp either with a mid 60′s Fender Bandmaster 2×12 with late 70′s Celestion G12-80 or a Marshall 4×10 cab with late 70′s Celestion G10-50. Both cabinets work great with the amp, but I really love this amp driving the 4×10 best. No speaker cabinet will be supplied. Please ask all questions 12 hours before the listing’s close so they can be answered properly. Thanks for reading the whole description. This listing is for a Vintage 1978 Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master Guitar Amp with Matsushita Mullard Tubes! The two 6CA7/EL34s are Westinghouse branded, marked Japan with an O getter and have a seam on the top (very faint on one) indicating that they are Matsushita Mullards. The three 12AX7s are GE branded, marked Japan with an O getter and have a seam on the top indicating that they are also Matsushita Mullards. The serial number (8010404) indicates that it was manufactured in January 1978. Prior to listing it was tested using a cabinet and Squier Strat that we keep for testing. It played beautifully, with a huge sound and very little hum – more of a quiet hiss, really. In fair cosmetic condition, for its age and would benefit from a deep cleaning. The power transformer is mounted at a slight angle – we’re not sure why. This is the only one on the market with a premium tube set – don’t let it get away! Powered by SixBit’s eCommerce Solution. Up for sale, a 1970′s Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master Mark II tube amplifier head in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Fully serviced and very original, this head drives a matched pair of EL34 power tubes, generating an ample 45 watts. Made in Canada and fully hand-wired with giant Hammond transformers, this amp has significant clean headroom and passes a ton of low end. Known as the poor mans Marshall, the circuit can be easily modified to that of a classic 4-input design, yet in its stock configuration the YBA-1 can already harness that rich Tweed-meets-U. Blend which is this Traynor’s sonic signature. With Volume controls for each channel as well as a global EQ, this amp can be used to power a variety of different instruments (such as a bevy of vintage keyboards) or simply a single guitar or bass, providing a bold, clean power amp that works well with effects pedals. This Traynor has abundant low end response, and the large transformers keep the sound tight and full. This YBA-1 has a very original circuit, with all of the original Hammond transformers and a preamp that retains all of the original pots as well as the mustard tone caps which are essential to the tonal color of this head. The power supply includes new F&T capacitors to ensure optimal performance. The amp is currently loaded with a trio of vintage 12AX7 (7025) preamp tubes as well as a matched pair of Sylvania EL34 power tubes. The faceplate retains all of its original knobs, with most of the white screenprinting having been worn away. Smooth black tolex and a silver grill cloth cover the enclosure, with a good deal of scuffing and wear throughout, and there is evidence of black paint on the enclosure, specifically over the chrome bumpers. This Traynor lives up to the company’s reputation of delivering sturdy workhorse amps that perform reliably on stage and in studio situations. This vintage hand-wired Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master Mark II is a true sleeper that has been well played, but remains in top-notch performance condition. A vintage Yorkville Sound/Traynor tube amp! This is the guitar mate reverb model YGB-3! I think the speaker cover has been replaced at some point, as it doesn’t look like others I’ve seen, nor does it have the Traynor logo on it? Lightly tested and seemed to be working fine! Only tested briefly, so it could need some servicing to get up to par! There’s wiring taped at the back. Does have scuffs and scratches to the exterior from use. The metal on the unit has corrosion. As noted above, the speaker fabric looks to have been changed at some point. Speaker is pretty beat up. Whole piece measures approximately 21 3/4″ wide, 10″ front-to-back and 24 tall. Carrier available to your zip code than what is listed first. This item will have an additional packing charge of. Heres a new YOUTUBE demo of the actual amp for sale. Great sounding vintage Traynor tube head. Lots of people mod these but i like them as is. They are right up there in power and performance with Marshalls of the same era. I owned and gigged with a twin combo version of this for years. Has reverb and tremelo. Has some cosmetic wear but still very well taken care of for a 40 plus year old amp. All pots cleaned and function well… But no tubes replaced. Well built amp all Handwired. You dont get the warmth and tone like this from today’s modern amps….. The item “Traynor YGL-3a Mark III Tube Amp head EL34 Vintage 1970s” is in sale since Saturday, October 27, 2018. This item is in the category “Musical Instruments & Gear\Vintage Musical Instruments\Vintage Guitars & Basses\Guitar Amplifiers”. The seller is “rone72″ and is located in Franklin, Virginia.
