Sounds sweet and all the gigging power you need! Completely refurbished with high quality Orange Drop and Sprague Atom caps. This amp sounds better than it did new and is as clean as they come. Chassis number A06372 (1966). Tolex and grille cloth were replaced years ago. Includes original back panel. Original power transformer #839 614 (14th week of 1966), choke #606-6-14 (14th week of 1966), and output transformer #606609 (9th week of 1966). Grounded IEC type cord for safety. Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Tremolux in excellent condition and in perfect working order. The very first Blackface-era iteration of the Tremolux with its “Fender Electric Instruments” faceplate, smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, this visually stunning amp offers a broad range of sparkling cleans and rich overdrive textures. Extremely original with the stock pair of Oxford speakers, the tone is stunning and quintessential Blackface Fender, with the perfect amount of clean headroom before the amp cascades into slightly compressed tube overdrive around 5 on the volume dial. The vibrato has a strong pulse, and each channel has a similar voicing, although the Normal channel has just a touch more low end and midrange punch. The preamp is extremely original, retaining all of the blue molded Ajax caps which are essential to the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Blackface-era circuits. The transformers (manufactured by Schumacher, Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the’60s) include the original power transformer and choke which both date to 1963, while the output transformer is a genuine Tremolux transformer which was substituted at some point in the amp’s life and dates to early 1965. It’s entirely possible that this is an early, factory-installed transformer. The CTS pots are all intact, with visible date codes from the 7th week of’64. The power supply features a full compliment of vintage Sprague Atoms, and the power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong variety. The power tubes are a matched pair of Sovtek 5881s (6L6s), and the preamp tubes and 5AR4 rectifier are all vintage valves from the likes of Amperex and RCA. The tube chart is intact with only light wear and a clean “NE” date stamp, which translates to May of 1964. The speaker cab boasts the original pair of Oxford 10K5 ceramic magnet speakers. These speakers have clean black frames and have both been professionally reconed, with matching date stamps from the 5th week of 1964. All of the original fiberglass baffling is intact inside the cabinet too. The amp has its original smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, a cosmetic combination only available for a few short months at the end of 1963 leading into the first half of’64. The tolex shows only very minor scuffing and edge wear, and the grillcloth has plenty of sparkle left in the thread. Both original raised Fender logos are intact, and the faceplate is very well-kept, retaining its full compliment of original witch hat knobs. All of the original hardware is accounted for including handle caps, nickel corners, sphinx glides (feet), and piggyback clipbars and threaded cabinet inserts. A modern one-button footswitch is included to engage the tremolo, along with a reproduction Fender speaker cable. Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Tremolux in excellent condition, complete with the original 2×10 speaker cabinet and a pair of factory spec Oxford 10K5 speakers. This amp boasts the sweetness, tonal range, and harmonic clarity that characterizes the Fender Brownface amps, and is powered by a pair of freshly biased vintage General Electric 6L6 power tubes. The tone is pure, dynamic Fender clean sparkle until around 4 on the Volume dial where the amp begins to get just a touch of overdrive on the notes before cascading into full tube saturation when you dime it out. The bias based tremolo circuit has an incredibly deep pulse and the EQ controls have a positively huge sweep. The circuit is very original and serviced strictly as necessary to ensure optimal performance. The original Schumacher output transformer and choke are intact with’62 date codes, while the power transformer is a modern premium replacement courtesy of Mercury Magnetics. All of the stock blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp, along with the full compliment of Stackpole and CTS pots, with visible date codes from the 7th week of’62. The power supply has been professionally recapped with top notch Sprague Atom filter caps, and Sprague bypass caps have been installed in the preamp as well, keeping everything operating within original factory spec. A three-prong power cable has also been installed. The tube compliment includes a matched pair of vintage General Electric USA-made 6L6s, along with a Mesa-branded GZ34 rectifier and a combination of new and vintage valves in the preamp. Inside the speaker cabinet, the original tube chart is mostly intact. The cabinet is loaded with a pair of reissue Oxford 10K5 gold frame ceramic magnet speakers which have the correct look and tonal properties, paring very well with the Tremolux circuit and output capability. Both speakers have viable cones and clean frames. While the speaker cabinet retains its original rough blonde tolex and wheat grillcloth, the head cosmetics have been meticulously restored to match, courtesy of Rodgers Amplification. Larry Rodgers used the correct tolex and grillcloth patterns and application techniques, right down to the correct style staples. The new tolex and grillcloth on the head were then carefully aged (in color, not condition) to match the original grill and tolex on the cabinet. The original wheat grill on the cabinet shows light wear and one notable snag near the center, but no other notable wear. The chassis itself is quite clean, and there are two small silver plugs in the back from previously removed mods. The original faceplate is fitted with a compliment of new cream barren knobs, and the hardware includes original nickel corners, sphinx glides, patent pending tilt-back legs, and chassis straps, with a pair of modern brown “dogbone” handles. The power supply has been professionally recapped with new Sprague Atom caps, and the preamp is virtually untouched save for one capacitor which was replaced with a cap of similar vintage. The chassis itself is very clean and the original brown faceplate is intact, complete with a set of original cream barrel knobs. The head sports its original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth. The tolex is quite clean, with a couple small cigarette burns on top and spots on the side where the sap from the knots in the original pine has caused some staining through the tolex. There is one spot of wear on the edge of the tolex north of Input 1 on the Bright Channel, and some wear on the silkscreened faceplate adjacent to the Volume knob on that channel as well. The original “dogbone” molded plastic handle is intact, along with the original nickel corners and flat Fender logo on the amp’s face. Up for sale, a 1959 Fender Tremolux amplifier in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the stock “doorstop” wooden footswitch. One of the most tonally distinctive and sweet sounding amps of Fender’s late 1950s “narrow panel” Tweed era, the Tremolux essentially combined the tonal richness and dynamic, touch sensitive circuit of a 5E3 Deluxe with a bias-based footswitchable tremolo. Powered by a pair of 6V6 power tubes, this Tremolux has the same harmonic content, smooth tube breakup and glassy tone of a Deluxe, but the significantly larger open back cabinet on a Tremolux gives the tone more depth, low end and roundness overall. Like any four-input Tweed Fender, the magic really happens when you jumper the two channels and use the independent Volume controls to dial in the perfect amount of clarity and grit. With the addition of Fender’s earliest tremolo circuit (a bias based design that essentially turns on/off the power tubes to create the effect), the Tremolux is a versatile and impressive amp, delivering a trem circuit with a strong pulse and good range of speeds. The circuit is completely stock and untouched, with all of the original yellow Astron tone caps in the preamp, along with the original pots, carbon comp resistors, and cloth wire. Even the original Mini Mite Astron caps are present, along with the stock gray two-prong power cable. All of the original transformers are intact with late’59 date codes, and the pots date to the 50th week of’59 as well. The chassis itself is particularly clean, with chrome plating that has ample shine and virtually all of the original white silkscreen lettering intact. The original chickenhead knobs are all present as well. The speaker is the original Jensen P12Q, rated at roughly 35 watts and the perfect match for the output of the Tremolux which is decidedly more modest than what the speaker can handle. The teal frame is quite clean, with clear date stamps, intact bell cover and original Jensen label. The tube chart is also present on the inside of the cabinet and a particularly nice example, with an “IL” date stamp that translates to December of 1959. All of the original hardware is intact including the elusive leather handle. Other stock hardware includes the “Tremolux” badge on the face and four sphinx glides (feet) on the bottom. The original tweed is intact and as the photos show, it is in particularly nice shape, with sparingly little wear around the corners. The original oxblood grillcloth with gold stripe is also intact and well preserved and this is a particularly tidy vintage example with tweed that has aged to a light shade of amber. This Tremolux is a clean, no-excuses, collector-grade example with a stock circuit, clean chrome faceplate, original tweed, and stock brown single button wooden footswitch. Up for grabs is this original vintage 1962 Fender Tremolux tube head. As in many cases, the head has been separated from the original piggy back cabinet. Overall, the head is in good condition, but has had some modifications. The Tremolux still has all of the original transformers/chokes, which date this amp to 1962. The filter and electrolytic capacitors have been replaced, but the original caps will be included in the sale. The handle has also been replaced with a new OEM brown Fender handle and the power cable has been upgraded to a 3-prong cable. The previous owner did a mod to essentially bypass the normal channel, which is not too uncommon. Most people, including myself, typically only use the bright channel anyway to take advantage of the tremolo and/or reverb when applicable. The normal channel volume knob now seems to act like a master volume for the bright channel. This amp is equipped with older RCA preamp and power tubes. The amp sounds very good as is, but can always easily be reverted back to original specs by a competent tech. These early’60s Fender amps are becoming harder to find, especially in working condition. Up for sale is a Vintage Fender Tremolux Guitar Amp Head. The tolex is ripping up at certain spots (pictured). The rear back panel is missing. Some of the metal has surface rust due to years of age. Amp has been professionally reconditioned by D. R Zink and has the following reconditioning details. 3 prong AC cord, all (Astron and Sprague NOS) capacitors, 1 5U4GB (RCA NOS), 2 6V6 GT (TungSol NOS), 2 12AX7 (TungSol NOS), 1 12AY7 (Electro Harmonix Gold NOS), 1-25 kOhm bias pot w/ 56k resistor. The power tubes are a matched pair of vintage 6L6s, and the preamp tubes are a mixture of newer and vintage valves. The stock CTS pots and chassis stamp date to 1965. The tube chart is intact with only light wear and a clean “OI” date stamp, which translates to September of 1965. The speaker cab boasts a pair of vintage correct Oxford 10L6 ceramic speakers. These speakers have black frames, original blue Fender foil labels, and original cones. Cosmetically, the amp retains the original silver sparkle grillcloth and smooth black tolex. The head is particularly clean with a minty faceplate and stock knobs. The nickel hardware shows moderate patina, with the original pat.
