The 8 speaker that has been replaced from its original, as well as the addition of the 3-prong, grounded chord. 1967 Fender Vibro Champ Vintage Blackface 1×8 Combo Tube Amp AA764 Electric Guitar Amplifier in overall excellent condition for its age. It appears to be all original except for the replaced tubes. The transformers and pots all date to 1966. Everything works perfectly with zero issues. The amp has zero hum and all controls have zero scratchiness. The tube tremolo works and sounds great. The only noticeable blemish is a small slit in the front grill cover. There are some typical tiny scuff marks throughout, but nothing major. This amp still has the two-print power cord. The service history is not known. Does not include any accessories. The Blackface Fender Vibro Champ was introduced in 1964 to build upon the success of the standard Champ Amp and ran until 1968, when cosmetic and circuit changes brought forth the “drip edge” Silverface amps. Still a Champ at heart, the Vibro Champ added a tube tremolo circuit with controls for Speed and Intensity, making this classic recording amp even more versatile without sacrificing any of the original tone. THE AMP THAT NEVER LEFT HOME. PERFECT GRILL CLOTH – NO SMOKE STAINS!! NON SMOKING HOUSE —– ALL ORIGINAL AMP—- TIME WARP. COMES WITH ORIGINAL 60′s COVER (Not Repro). I bought this amp about 10 years ago from its original owner. It was bought in 67 by a guy that was going to learn guitar. It seemed like a good idea at the time but he never put the time in and the amp sat for 40 years in a bedroom closet. When I got it home, I powered it up with a variac just in case but there were no problems and everything checked out fine. I left it exactly as I found it, no mods, no components were replaced. The first 5 pics were taken this week, the rest were from 10 years ago when I had it apart. Sadly, Ive done the same thing as the original owner. It has sat in my closet with the cover on and has had less than 2 hours of use in the last 10 years. I’m not a guitar player, I play keys and will never get the proper enjoyment out of this amp.. This is a classic guitar players dream!!! I’ve heard this amp at the hands of a pro guitar player. The vibrato feature really makes this amp! TECHNICAL INFO – Amp is in excellent working condition. From the little I have used it, I haven’t had any issues at all. The power cord is the original one! It is nice and flexible with no cracks and I see no reason to replace it at this time how many 50 Y/O + amps can you say that about? Control knobs feel brand new because they have had no use to speak of! Sorry, the amp did not come with the foot pedal control so there is no control I can offer you. The pedal is needed to switch from vibrato mode to non-vibrato as you know. TERMS OF SALE – I offer this amp to someone that will hopefully enjoy it and use it more than once a year. Although it is in good working order now, anything can happen to a 54 year old amp with original components. The Vibrato has a nice pulse and chop, and this amp is a studio and apartment-friendly combo that delivers a dynamic, sparkling vintage Fender sound. The circuit is practically untouched save for a single resistor and capacitor, and all components have been tested, ensuring optimal performance. The original Schumacher-made transformers date to’78, and all of the original CTS pots are intact. The tube complement includes an Electro Harmonix 6V6 power tube along with modern 12AX7s and a 5Y3 rectifier tube. The original tube chart is intact inside the cabinet as well. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with orange stripe is intact and remarkably clean, and the faceplate is positively gleaming with clean turquoise text and the full complement of witch hat knobs. This Vibro Champ has a number of early features including the Pre-CBS-era “Fender Electric Instrument” faceplate and no-logo grill. This little Blackface-era Fender wonder delivers five watts of pure Class A tube tone. A surprisingly loud amp via an upgraded alnico magnet 8 speaker, the Vibro Champ offers warm, dynamic cleans before pushing into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive as you turn up the Volume dial. Responsive to your picking dynamics, and absolutely huge sounding when you put a microphone in front of it, it’s hard to beat the Vibro Champ for pure simplicity and great tone. And of course, Fender’s lush sounding tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and wide range of speeds, perfect for subtle shifts in volume or machine gun chop. The circuit is completely original save for the a few smaller electrolytic caps in the preamp. The stock Schumacher-made transformers date to the 14th week of’65 (power) and 13th week of 1965 (output), and visible codes on the CTS pots date to the 30th week of’64. The tube chart is fully intact with an “OF” stamp which translates to June of 1965. The tube compliment includes a modern Groove Tubes 6V6 power tube, vintage GE 5Y3 rectifier tube, and matched USA-made Sylvania preamp tubes. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are extremely clean, with very little darkening of the grillcloth and sparingly little wear on the tolex. The faceplate is very well-kept too, complete with its full compliment of witch hat knobs. The stock handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and chassis straps are all intact, and the hardware shows sparingly little surface patina. This Vibro Champ is an ideal example of Blackface tone that sure to delight both discerning collectors and serious players.
