1967 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Blackface Vintage Tube Amp 2x10 Export Model

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Export Model, very original and given a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. A very rare Export Model designed with a rotary voltage selector on the back panel, this amp works with worldwide voltages from 117 to 240v. With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender Blackface models for its ideal size and power, performing well both on stage and in the studio with shimmering Fender cleans and smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive when you push the amp towards 10 on the volume dial. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has smooth attack and tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube reverb and punchy tremolo. This Vibrolux has been thoroughly serviced to balance originality and functionality, boasting a recap of the power supply with Sprague Atoms and a modern three-prong power cable. The original Schumacher-made power and output transformers are intact and date to’66, and the original choke and reverb transformer are present too. The preamp is extremely original and straight, with all of the blue molded Ajax tone caps which are a hallmark of the Blackface sound. The CTS pots also date to 1966. The pair of Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tubes sound wonderful and are optimally biased, and the preamp tubes are a compliment of vintage and modern valves which function as intended. The original Oxford 10 10L5 speakers sound fantastic, and both speakers feature original cones which are still tight, yet nicely worked in. The tube chart is fully intact, noting the AA864 circuit with a “QB” date code which translates to February of’67 (customarily the latest date code on a Fender amp). The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, along with all of the stock hardware and the original raised Fender logo on the amp’s face. The edges of the enclosure show a bit of honest wear from the past half century, but as the photos show, this Vibrolux presents very well. A rare iteration of one of Fender’s best mid-size Blackface combos, this Export Model Vibrolux Reverb is tonally stunning, very original, and fully serviced to sound its best. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to ensure that your amp arrives safely. 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Blackface Vintage 35-watt Tube Amp VG

For sale we have a vintage 1965 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Amp, a true American classic from the Blackface era. This amp came to us from it’s second, long term owner, and has seen good ownership and maintenance, including a current amp tech go through, as hired by us, from Bob Garufy, a local tech of note. This amp currently sounds fantastic, works great, and has a clean bill of health. Please read the entire listing. All things considered, for a 53 year old amp that has seen use, this amp is in very good condition. When this amp came to us, it had had its Reverb Driver replaced in 2004 with a Marvel brand driver. All remaining transformers are original and date to late 1965. The interior chassis stamp dates to late 1965. The speakers are original Jensen C10NS, C824 and date to late 65. The grill cloth is original, still has the original black staples, and is in really good shape. Original tolex, knobs, handle and logo. As mentioned, we had this amp serviced. We had the bright switches replaced, we still have the originals. We also chose to replace both the input jacks on channel one, we still have those, too. We also put a fresh, heavy duty power cord on it, the “death cap” checked fine so was left in. Any cold solders were repaired, and 1 meg ohm cap was replaced. The filter caps were pro replaced with Mallories in 1995, and still work strong. We replaced the out put tubes with a fresh pair of JJ tubes from Tube Depot. The current owner has plugged in a solid state rectifier in the rectifier tube socket, it imparts a pretty wide head room, so we left it. To put it back to tube would involve just a quick, easy swap with a rectifier tube. The remaining tubes are Sovtek, the 12AT7 in the first channel is USA. The owner chose to use a 12AX7 in the reverb socket for a super lush reverb, again, we like it, so we left it. All tubes have been checked and are good. This amp is good to go, ready for stage or studio use. Unfortunately we do not have a cover for it. We do have the original footswitch, which works perfectly. That being said, this is a solid, well gone through amp that should last, delight and continue to go up in value for years to come. The Guitar Trader buys, sells, trades, and consigns new and used quality instruments. While the main focus is on trading used instruments we do carry exclusive lines like Nash Guitars, Quilter Amplifiers, Reverend Guitars, and effects pedals by Henretta Engineering. 1960 Fender Vibrolux Tweed Narrow Panel Vintage Tube Amp with Victoria Cover

Up for sale, a 1960 Fender Vibrolux in excellent condition and in good working order, well maintained and complete with the original Victoria Luggage cover! This amp is from the most desirable run of Fender tweed amps from the late 50s, with the “narrow panel” cabinet design and a tone that is quintessential vintage Fender. The circuit is completely original save for a recap with high quality electrolytic caps, featuring Sprauge Atoms in the power supply to keep the amp operating within original factory spec. With a complete vintage tube set (including matched Sylvania 6V6 power tubes), this amp delivers the classic tweed tone with incredible dynamics, harmonic richness, and tonal clarity. The amp stays surprisingly clean with just the right amount of overdrive and very tight bass response for an amp with the original Jensen 10 speaker. The tremolo is bias based, meaning that it turns the tubes on and off at a rate and intensity set by the controls, and has a nice strong pulse to it, with a smooth waveform that has a good amount of intensity and chop on tap. Aside from the aforementioned recap and one new CTS pot, the circuit is completely stock with original Triad transformers and the coveted yellow Astron tone caps still present. The clean tube chart has a “JB” stamp which dates to February of’60. The chassis is quite clean, with moderate patina on the chrome control plate. The majority of the original white lettering is intact, along with the stock chicken head knobs. The stock metal handle ends are intact along with a new leather handle that matches the style of the original. The stock gray two-prong power cord is still on the amp as well. The original alnico Jensen P10R 10 speaker is intact with a very clean green/blue frame, original bell cover, and clean Jensen label. The date code on the edge of the speaker frame translates to the 36th week of 1959. The original lacquered tweed is intact, showing light ambering and some minor scuffs and wear, primarily on the lower left corner of the enclosure and bottom of the amp. The original Oxblood grillcloth is clean and tight, with no snags or rips. This is a wonderful amp from one of Fender’s most famed eras, and both a perfect piece for a collector or a reliable gigging and studio machine! The original Victoria Luggage brown canvas cover is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely. 1969 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Drip Edge Vintage Tube Amp Blackface AA864 Circuit

Up for sale, an early 1969 Fender “drip edge” Vibrolux Reverb with the coveted Blackface AA864 circuit. Tonally, the amp does everything you’d expect of your favorite Vibrolux Reverb, with a balanced, sparkly clean tone and just the right amount of headroom before giving in to smooth tube saturation and overdrive. There’s a reason why the Vibrolux is currently one of the most collectable and sought after vintage Fender amps, as it’s ideal for recording and also the perfect size for club gigs without overwhelming your bandmates. The balanced tone of the two 10 ceramic speakers, matched with a tube rectified 6L6 based circuit simply can’t be beat! Add Fender’s famed tube driven reverb and tremolo on top and you have one of the best tube amp designs ever conceived. The speakers are a pair of era correct Oxford 10L6 10 ceramic speakers, that feature clean black frames, stock Fender blue labels and original speaker cones. These speakers have 1976 date codes, and are the correct stock factory 10s found in most Vibrolux’s of the era. The tube chart is clean and intact with crisp edges. The output transformer dates to early 1969, while the power transformer and choke date back to’68. The CTS pots date to late 1968 as well. The circuit is clean and well maintained, having been professionally recapped, with new bypass caps in the preamp as well. The brown molded tone caps are intact in the preamp, while the majority of the resistors have been swapped in favor of high quality one watt metal film resistors for the cleanest signal and lowest possible noise floor. The power cable has been upgraded to a modern three-prong cable. The power tubes are a pair of matched Mesa Boogie-branded USA made 6L6GC valves which have been properly biased, while the preamp tubes are an assortment of largely vintage valves from the likes of RCA and Telefunken. Cosmetically, the amp is very well kept with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with aluminum trim. The black tolex shows sparingly little wear, and all of the stock hardware is intact, including the chassis straps, corners, handle caps, and sphinx glides (feet). The faceplate is quite minty too and the original Fender metal logo (with tail) is intact on the face of the amp. There is modest aging of the original grillcloth, but no other wear of note. As the photos show this is a clean, original, and well maintained vintage Fender! A modern Fender two-button footswitch is included. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Produced early in the Silverface run, this amp still has many of the hallmarks of the earlier Blackface design and circuit-wise is identical to the “drip edge” amps that preceded it. All of the original CTS pots are present as well, and the amp has been upgraded with a heavy duty modern three-prong power cable. The speakers are a pair of era correct Oxford 10L6 10 ceramic speakers which are freshly restored. These speakers have cleaned and repainted black frames, new Fender blue foil labels, and professional recones. The tubes consist of a variety of newer and vintage preamp valves as well as a matched pair of Groove Tubes/Sovtek 6L6s. Cosmetically, the amp is very clean with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The black tolex shows very little wear, and all of the stock hardware is intact. There is moderate wear on the silver aluminum faceplate, with some light scratches, but all of the text is bold and present, as well as the blue trim around the knobs. The original Fender metal logo (with tail) is intact on the face of the amp, along with the stock sphinx glides (feet), corners, and handle caps. The original two-button footswitch is included. 1963 Fender Vibrolux Vintage Tube Amp Brownface Pre-CBS 1x12 Combo, Rare

Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Vibrolux in excellent condition and in good working order. This rare 1×12 “Brownface” version of the Vibrolux is a bridge between the Tweed and Blackface models in both specs and tone, with a glassy, touch sensitive quality, robust cleans, and rich overdrive characteristics when you dime it out. Pushing 35 all tube watts through a vintage Oxford alnico 12LN speaker, there’s plenty to love about the versatility and tone offered by this Fender. The amp has plenty of clean headroom and the sweet sag of a tube rectifier, and when pushed above 5 on the volume dial, things start to compress slightly and cascade into sweet overdrive with just enough bite. The bias-based tremolo circuit also has a very strong, thumping pulse that’s notably deeper than later Fender circuits, with a wide range of speeds. The circuit is freshly serviced and largely original, retaining the original Schumacher output transformer and choke. The power transformer is also a genuine Schumacher and properly spec’d for this amp, although it dates to 1965. All of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp and an integral part of the sweetness and clarity of the circuit. All of the stock pots are intact as well with largely original solder joints and cloth covered wire. The circuit has been professionally recapped with high quality Sprauges and F&Ts for the capacitors in the power supply and the smaller bypass caps as well. The bias cap also has a small trim pot piggybacked on it to perfectly dial in the bias of the matched pair of 6L6 power tubes. The amp has also been fitted with a modern three-prong power cable. The preamp tubes are a mix of vintage and newer valves, although the first two tubes (the drivers for each channel) are vintage Tung Sol 12AX7s that sound particularly hi-fi and musical. The power tubes are a matched pair of Groove Tubes. The speaker is the right make and model for this amplifier (Oxford 12LN) and era-correct, although it dates a bit earlier than the amp with a code on the edge of the frame which translates to 1957. The tube chart is also partially intact inside the cabinet. Cosmetically, this amp would look great in a studio, with original rough brown tolex. The amp features modern wheat grillcloth on the original baffle and the cloth has aged to look appropriate for the stock tolex. The leather handle is a modern replacement, as is the lower back panel, while the top back panel is original. The faceplate is notably clean and retains all of the original brown barrel knobs. This Vibrolux is a rare, thoroughly serviced, and largely original vintage Pre-CBS Fender amp that’s ready for stage and studio use.
