Up for sale, a 1963 Fender Bandmaster in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, loaded with a full vintage tube set. Extremely original, this “Piggyback” Bandmaster is decked out in original rough blonde tolex and wheat grillcloth. This Brown Panel circuit drives two matched Tung Sol USA small bottle 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes for 40 powerful watts. Like the Tweed amps that preceded it, the Brown Panel circuits are dynamic and responsive, delivering Fender’s hi-fi glassy clean tones. The EQ controls have a positively huge sweep, from thick and mellow to biting, twangy snap. After around 5 on the volume dial, the amp cascades into rich tube overdrive that compresses a bit and feels slightly loose and gritty in just the right way without losing too much clarity. It’s the kind of natural tube overdrive that only comes from pushing a well-designed Fender circuit. The Harmonic Vibrato circuit is also a complex design only found on the top tier Brown Panel models, utilizing three tubes and creating a lush pitch shifting effect that has more in common with a Leslie or Chorus than a traditional tremolo. The circuit is 100% original save for a recap of the main power supply. The full complement of Schumacher-made transformers are intact, with date codes from early’63. The preamp is untouched, with all of the famed blue Ajax tone caps intact, along with all of the original Stackpole pots which have visible date codes from the 14th week of’63. The power cable is the original gray two-prong, and a three-prong cable can be installed at no additional cost at the next owner’s discretion. The full (likely original) vintage tube set includes include a pair of matched small bottle vintage Tung Sol USA 5881 (6L6GC) power tubes with RCA and Tung Sol-branded valves in the preamp. The speaker cab is loaded with the original Oxford alnico magnet 12L6 speaker pair and untouched speaker harness. Inside the head cabinet, the tube chart has a “MF” stamp which translates to June of’63. Cosmetically, this is an extremely well-kept example, with clean and original rough blonde tolex and wheat grillcloth. The faceplate is in great shape, and all of the original cream barrel knobs are present. Both flat Fender logos are original on the head and cab and all additional stock hardware is present too, with tilt-back chrome legs, leg stops, sphinx glides (feet), nickel corners, flat handles and piggyback clip bars.

This is a mid 60′s vintage Harmony Tube amp. Cosmetically everything looks okay, but the amp does not work. When it is powered on, the amp just buzzes, but does not register anything plugged into the line inputs. Looks like the power cable was replaced at some point. Please see the schematics and photos of the capacitors/resistors inside.

Pulled from a WORKING pair of W3M tube amplifiers, driving 6L6GC pairs in each. Amps (which are not included, nor are the tubes) were gone through and recapped last year. I bought the amps for the tubes, as I needed them. Parting out now the amplifiers (and other items from the lot). 1 One of them was custom mounted to the chassis, as they relocated one of the caps. They bent the tab that mounts the transformer to the chassis. I tried to bend it back, but it is solid. They must have a metal bending tool. You will need to rebend. I tried with a strong set of grips, and while it moves, I just didn’t trust myself. Obviously not an issue that affects performance, just the way it is mounted. If you are handy, or have some experience bending metal, you can certainly get it back. 2 other one had some wax on the underside, and the wires. Likely a bad wax cap over the years melted. You can likely wipe it off… I did, and some came off. Didn’t spend too much time with it though (like literally 10 seconds). Should clean up nice. These are superb, working TO-300 transformers. Pairs are getting super hard to find (as are singles). Very heavy, will be double boxed to ensure they make the transit.

EICO HF-12 Mono Integrated Tube Amplifier – Modified, Tested, Great Sound. A classic mono integrated amplifier from EICO’s golden era, the HF-12 is well regarded for its musical EL84 output stage and straightforward, no-nonsense design. Tested and fully functional at time of evaluation. Modified to use a solid-state rectifier in place of the original EZ81 tube. Provides more stable operation and consistent voltage. Evidence suggests some of the capacitors were replaced in the past by the prior owner. Exact timing and scope of this work are unknown, but several current capacitors do not look like original factory capacitors. A full recap is recommended for long term reliability. Three 12AX7 tubes (installed and included). Brand may vary but all tested strong, no shorts and gas detected. Old tubes were all replaced for reliable performance. Classic EICO iron and EL84 sound signature. Strong, engaging mono presentation-excellent for vintage speakers. Clean cosmetics consistent with age. Some corrosion typical of age.
