Vintage lot of NOS Sprague capacitors in original cases. These came from an electronics repair / parts collection and have been stored clean and dry. Most boxes contain unused capacitors and are marked with capacitance, voltage ratings, and Sprague series (GA, HY K, HYERCON, 5GA, 5HK, etc). Includes a mix of high-voltage values ranging from 200V up to 2000V, with microfarads from. 02 depending on the box. Great for tube amp builds, radio repair, test gear restoration, or anyone who likes period-correct Sprague components. What you see is exactly what you get. About 18-22 individual boxes in total.

Up for sale here is this set of 5 used vintage Sprague Black Beauty 160P capacitors. 22 uf 400v, and tests around. 23.28 uf, with fairly low leakage, so they should work fine at full voltage in an amp. These were pulled from vintage equipment, have drifted in value, and show some DC leakage. As such they are being listed as not working even though they still might be usable in lower voltage applications. I randomly measured exactly a third of them (20 out of the 60) with my Fluke DMM, and the average value reading was 0.136mfd. These all came from the same source so it’s likely the others will measure around that same range.

This amp is serviced by professional technician. It has new pair filter caps and adjust voltage to spec at 440V bias at -37. The amp panel has some missing paint, one round panel nut broke off and one panel latch screw missing replace with different screw. All tubes tested and strong. The pre tubes 6CA7 and rectify tubes are made in USA, the power tubes and new modern tubes they are same but not matching brand. The power transformer is 6289A, the output transformer is 16432. This amazing amp works anywhere in the world, as it has a voltage selector. The prices for these amps, mine or others, will only increase in the future. They will NOT get cheaper. So if you are waiting, you are waiting for nothing, my price now is already higher than the one a month ago. SUPERB vintage VOX amp, good working condition, biased correctly etc, SOUNDS GREAT. This amp has the multivoltage type of transformer, and it thus can be used anywhere in the world. They don’t make them like this anymore…. Mullard caps, turret board, top notch workmanship, dual bias pots,’overrated’ transformers (meaning they have been built with higher specs than really needed) etc. Recapped (this has to be done every 20 years or so, or the amp’s sound will degrade and noise will increase). It has also been revalved and biased correctly. I will include all the original caps. This amp will do ANY STYLES superbly, from Chuck Berry to Gilmour to Hendrix to Clapton to AC/DC to EVH and beyond. If crank it up and you give it a decent boost, you will hear the most roaring metal sound to be found anywhere. None of that wasp in the jar, fizzy and thin preamp distortion….. This is how a guitar would sound during the 1970′s. Crank it up and be astonished at the wonderful harmonic crunch and notes so thick you can cut with a knife. In one or two pictures it looks like theres a lot more rust than there really is, it is mainly oxidation. It looks a lot worse in the pics than it is in reality. The amp will be EXPERTLY packed. Leave it to me and don’t worry about a thing. Of course, the amp will be sent fully tracked and insured. I leave nothing to chance.
