The cabinet has a few cracks seen (though it remains in one piece), and the green pearlized wrap has chipped in some places. The power cord is solid, but the sheathing on the braided wires leading to/closest to the speaker have become frail over the years and are now wrapped in electrical tape. One of the dial knobs are missing, but knob turns as it should. The unit powers on and tubes light up, however, I’m not getting any sound from the speaker, but I do hear static. May be something super simple like a grounding issue, in which case, my loss is your gain. If no takers, I’ll be taking the amp to a tech for a refresh and relist once working fully. This unit does come with the back cover plate, a lot of times when these show up on the market the back cover is missing, likely in part due to them not staying on very well, which this one doesn’t, but it is included!

Vintage 1930′s Dickerson Amplifier “Idaho Slim” Tube Amp Very Rare for Steel Guitar. Rescued from imminent destruction! We found this and knew it had to be rescued. We do not know much about it and the information on these is limited. However Dickerson is the company that became Magnatone. Dickerson manufactured these from 1937- 1947. This one has a worn label (not sure if it is original) that a to the best we can make out says “Idaho Slim”. Where this is coming out of Idaho that would make sense. Dusted off with a micro cloth… We plugged it in and it WORKED! We ran it for less then a minute as to not damage the unit – just wanted to see if it worked after being stored for so long. It packed a punch for what looks to be such a simple amp, both inputs worked fine, tubes light up and look very cool. The cord is brittle and needs replaced. The cord is patched in a few spots. The amp is in good working condition the capacitors inside the unit have been replaced AC cord and fuse holder replaced. The Rectifier and preamp tube are original the 6v6 is a Chinese. Speaker has been Recone by Speaker Repair Pros (Orange county speakers). Input jacks replaced with switchcraft. Pot is a little scratchy but cleans up after moving a couple of times does not effect sound. Dickerson Guitar Lap Steel Amplifier. Dickerson became Magnatone in mid 1950s. Tubes: 6V6 power, 6SJ7 preamp, 5Y3 Rectifier. Cool guitar or harp amp project. Cosmetic Condition is very good. Some light rust to rear chassis. Amp was given some new capacitors at some point. It is a working amp but the output is low. I don’t know how loud this little amp gets. But I suspect it is louder than its current performance level. This is a vintage amplifier that even in its. It will need servicing. And possibly other items to keep it working.
