Very cool-looking little Grommes LJ-2 mono vacuum tube amplifier from mid-1950′s, sounds sweet! Supplied with full tube complement and Howard Sams Photofact Folder, this “Little Jewel” (that’s what “LJ” stands for) could use a little TLC, mainly from a full power capacitor replacement. All tubes tested good, except one section of the 6SL7 was slightly low (did not appear to affect sound). Brought up very slowly with a variac, the unit did not misbehave, and drove an 8-ohm speaker nicely with about 10 watts, just a little scratchy on the volume control.
