McIntosh MC-240 Stereo Tube Amplifier, Matched Vintage Tubes, Clean. Clean example of what many listeners considider the best sounding McIntosh tube amplifiers from the 1960s. Chassis still has the original serial number stamped on front of tube deck. Transformers are almost flawless. There are two minor contact spots that resulted in paint chips. One output transformer label is the original black, and the other output and power transformer labels are slightly faded. Front panel with controls and terminals is almost flawless. The top deck has some very small pin point rust spots. Tube designation silk-screen beside each tube are there some minor loss of characters. With The rear panel has some missing letters and is rust free. Output tubes are vintage GE 6L6GC – same envelope, same printing on tube base. Tubes are closely matched pairs. 9 pin tubes are all tested vintage tubes. The 12AX7 and 12AU7 are Telefunken and the 12BH7 are vintage General Electric. Includes original metal front tube shield. Circuit is all original. The factory installed Varistor was broken – very common. Varistor replaced with new production equivalent. Please note the MC-240 circuit components are 50 years. MC-240 is delivered in working condition and sounds great. Cannot be responsible for life expectancy of 50 yeear old capacitors, resistors and rectifiers. Be sure to have a experienced tube technician for help with advice how to upgrade this classic amplifier’s performance. IMPORTANT – Be sure to read the Terms and Conditions of Sale.
