Tubes were pulled and bench-tested on a Sencore TC142 tube checker: 6L6 tests at 85% emission (GOOD range); 12AX7 tests at 100% emission (GOOD range) – this confirms the tubes themselves are healthy, but does NOT confirm the amplifier circuit, transformers, or capacitors function correctly. Top panel shows significant cosmetic damage: multiple names/initials scratched into the metal finish, plus general scuffing and scratching across the top surface – see photos closely, this is more than typical surface wear. Control knobs show grime/wear consistent with age; front panel lettering and chrome trim otherwise legible and intact. Not inspected for capacitor condition, cord integrity, or continuity beyond the tube bench tests described above. This is tube-era, mains-connected equipment that has not been powered on or serviced. The capacitors looked good enough to at least plug the amplifier in & it did not blow any fuses/transformers. The power indicator light up. All 4 rubber feet on the bottom are hardened and should be replaced. The presence, scratch filter & rumble filter knobs can all be pressed in. All knobs adjust freely. There is some dust/aging almost everywhere on this amp, but I’m sure it would clean up nicely with proper attention to detail. This was an estate find & I do not know how long it was sitting – I would assume that some work. From a smoke & pet free environment. Device will be packaged with extreme care. Recently pulled from a custom made console system that appeared untouched since put together in the late 50′s. Comes as shown with all tubes 2 x Sylvania USA 6L6BG, 1 x. 6BA8A, 1 x GE Can 5Y3GT, 2 x Mullard UK 12AX7, 1 x Mullard UK 6267. Ideal for your mono system build. Made in the USA Sherwood gear of this era is highly regarded. Does not come with feet. Unfortunately the back top of the metal cabinet has also been cut to accommodate some additional wiring in the old console (see pic). Important, please read : this has 60 year old Electrolytic capacitors in it and at a minimum these should be replaced if you are looking to use this on a regular basis.
