Up for sale here is this super-rare mini vintage Stromberg-Carlson CSA-2 tube amplifier. This is one of the smallest tube amps I have ever seen, and it is surprisingly heavy! This normally uses two EL84/6BQ5 output tubes and two 12AX7s, but the tubes are not included, sorry. This is in good physical condition with light to moderate overall wear, except that the “Stromberg-Carlson” front plate has some wear and is bent, though you could probably straighten it out. This is a neat little integrated amp–I believe it’s a push-pull mono amp. I think this was an add-on to go from mono to stereo, so I think it normally partners with another amp. This has controls and the original knobs, which are in great shape. You could make this into a sweet little guitar amp or whatever you want. The entire amp measures about 9.75″ long (including the mounting ears), 4″ tall, and 3 deep. A previous owner updated this with some new caps, but I have not tested it, so it may require further updates. I will guarantee the transformers to be good. This is a really rare amp–don’t miss it! Vintage Original Stromberg-Carlson AR-430 Mono Tube Amplifier. This is fully working amplifier. All electrolytic and bypass caps have been replaced as well as out of spec resistors. The power cord is new. All the tubes appear to be original Carlson-Stromberg but are untested except for listening to the amplifier. Up for sale here is this vintage Stromberg-Carlson AU34 tube amplifier. This is an interesting one. It was recapped/rebuilt by a previous owner, so it has some new caps and new power resistors, and some nice Sprague Black Beauty caps. I brought it up on a Variac and it does play well and sounds fairly good. The rebuild work is fairly good but this does have holes in the top of the chassis–I think there are supposed to be metal covers over these, but I’m not sure. Physical condition is fairly good but this does have a moderate amount of wear and rust overall, and is missing the feet, handle, screws for the cage, and one bottom screw. On the plus side, this has the schematic on the underside of the bottom panel, and both the cage and bottom are included. This has the original knobs as well, which could use a good cleaning. This includes all the tubes–1 6N7, 1 6SF5, 1 6SJ7, 1 5U4GB, and 2 6L6GC (GE). I tested the 6L6GC tubes, and one tested at 93 and the other test at 100 but tested positive for shorts and grid emissions. This is on my B&K 747B, on a scale of 0-120 where 65 is minimum good. These still work right now but you may want to replace them. I didn’t test any of the other tubes. This has 3 separate inputs on the side–an RCA jack, a screw-on microphone jack, and 2 screw terminals. All inputs seem to work fine. This has a bunch of output options on the back, and has a 1/4 jack hanging out of the back as well. I tested this using that jack and it does play and work fine. You might want to clean up the work on this, and just clean it up in general. These are supposed to make good guitar amps, and this would make an awesome “rat rod” amp. It’s been sitting on a shelf for a while, and deserves some love. Please see my pictures for details. If you have any questions, please ask.
