Marshall UK Vintage Modern 2466 – 100 Watt Tube Guitar Amp. This amp is considered one of the best Marshall’s evermade, flexible and versatile for any Marshall tone aficionado. It has Marshall 12AX7 Tubes/ Valves and Tube Amp Doctor branded KT66. The amp is solid made and built like a tank to easily take road or gigs abuse. Unlike some other Marshall VM amps, this amp doesn’t have that problem with intermittent Purple LED and the light glows perfect. Some normal wear in Purple Tolex but overall in Excellent Shape! Marshall Vintage Modern 2466 Tube Amp Head – PURPLE TOLEX. The Marshall Vintage Modern 2466 Tube Amp Head is an all-valve amplifier with a choice of two dynamic ranges selectable by footswitch. The Low range equates equates to the performance you would come to expect from a stock vintage Marshall amplifier in terms of tone and available gain. The High range adds an extra preamp valve into the signal path, facilitating those classic hard rock tones of the seventies. Add to this the ability to dynamically interface with your instrument’s Volume and Tone controls and the experience translates into a truly expressive and organic feel in performance. Two frequency selective Pre-amp Volumes (Gains) – Body and Detail – facilitate greater flexibility in tone shaping for individual guitars and styles while the power amplifier is heavily influenced by the first Marshall amplifiers to be produced, with four KT66 output valves yielding that substantial, fat and smooth tone. A MID Boost switch on the front panel fattens the tone even more while a traditional Marshall tone control circuit enables fine tuning of your sound. A master volume has been included in order to practically manage the output levels at all venues. This is implemented after the phase splitter in order to fully exploit maximum preamp drive when the master is turned down low. A reverb level control mixes the on board plate reverb with the direct signal to whatever degree the player chooses. The reverb can be toggled on and off via the footswitch. Finally, a series FX loop is provided for those players who wish to use outboard effects to further enhance their sound. Loop levels of 10dB and +4dB can be controlled via a rear panel switch as well as the option to completely bypass this feature if it is not required. The cosmetics are also a carefully crafted hybrid of old and new styles made even more dramatic by the deep purple vinyl that covers the entire series. Up for sale, a 1977 Marshall JMP 2203 Master Model 100w head and matching 1960A 4×12 speaker cabinet in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Acquired from the private collection of esteemed amp builder Mike Soldano, this 2203 chassis has been fitted into a vintage 50w Marshall head cabinet. Featuring original custom color red tolex on both the head and speaker box, this visually and sonically stunning Marshall is dialed in to perfection with a quad of matched vintage Sylvania EL34 power tubes. One of the first Marshalls to feature the pre-phase inverter Master Volume circuit, this design allows the preamp to saturate and deliver searing crunch at club-friendly volumes. Of course the amp really excels when you dial up both the preamp gain and volume for a thick crunch synonymous with early AC/DC records. The circuit is clean and stock, with original Drake transformers. The chart on the chassis has a handwritten October, 1977 test date. In addition to the Sylvania power tubes, the amp features a combination of modern and vintage preamp valves. The chassis itself is remarkably clean, with a near flawless faceplate and all original knobs intact. The speaker cabinet is loaded with the original Celestion G12M 25 watt Black Back quad, and the speakers each have clean “HL9″ date stamps on the frames and “1777″ stamped original cones. The original red elephant tolex is intact on both the head and cab, with the original pair of large plastic Marshall logos as well as black plastic corners and handles. All of the original piping is intact, along with the original sprung amp feet. Naturally the head and cab have some scuffs and minor tears around the enclosure edges, but overall this set is particularly well-kept. The original back panel for the 50w head enclosure is also included, although it no longer mounts, given the size of the 100w chassis currently in the head box. The tubes are 2- 6BM8 power tubes, one is a Amperex the other a Westinghouse. The rectifier tube is a Sylvania 5V4 and the single pre amp tube is a 12 B27 I don’t see a name on it. Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Twin Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. One of the last amps from’67 to retain the Blackface AB763 circuit, this amp has been thoroughly serviced in-house here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and is studio ready. The very original’67 chassis has been matched with a vintage pair of Jensen C12N speakers and a new Mojotone solid pine speaker cabinet with new smooth blonde tolex and gold sparkle grillcloth, reminiscent of Fender’s transitional’64 specs. The tone is full on Blackface power and sparkle with rich cleans that exemplify the kind of clarity and sweetness for which the AB763 circuit is known. The reverb has a particularly lush sound and strong decay, while the tremolo throbs with the best. A perfect platform for pedals and ideal for amplifying everything from a guitar or pedal steel to your favorite Fender Rhodes or vintage combo organ, this Twin Reverb is dialed in to sound its best. The circuit is very original, retaining all of the stock transformers with 1967 date codes, and the CTS pots date to late’67 as well. The preamp has been thoroughly serviced with new Sprague Orange Drop tone caps and smaller bypass caps, and the power amp has been freshly recapped as well to ensure stable, reliable use. The speakers are a matched pair of Jensen C12Ns from early’68. Both of these speakers have been freshly reconed and sound great with tight, focused tone and plenty of power. Cosmetically, this amp is near mint as one would expect, given the brand new tolex and grillcloth on the new Mojotone speaker cab. The faceplate is a new reissue Blackface-style plate paired with all of the original witch hat knobs. The chassis straps are original, while the corners and sphinx glides (feet) are modern. For you consideration – All Original Ampeg Reverberocket Tube Amplifier. This is a stunner. It had some caps replaced recently by a friend of mine. He has it in tip-top condition. Original Jensen 12 Speaker sounds amazing. These have a wonderful sounding Reverb – or what Ampeg names “Echo/Dimension” as well as a beautiful Tremolo sound. IF you haven’t played one of these – they are kind of Fender(ish). There is a great article in Vintage Guitar Magazine about these written by Dave Hunter. If you want to find out more try to find that article online. They are the only Ampeg Amps known for the early break-up – good for just about any type of Music.
