I have not attempted to power it on, and no testing has been performed. As shown in the photos, two of the six power tubes are missing, and only one 12-inch speaker is installed. The amplifier is otherwise believed to be complete, and the original transformers appear to be present. Due to its unknown operating condition, I cannot guarantee functionality of any components. VINTAGE 1975 FENDER SUPER TWIN GUITAR AMP PROFESSIONALLY REPAIRED. This super twin amp does not have a reverb feature. The super twin has more power than a regular twin. I bought this amp in 1983 and never used it professionally. Does have some tape residue on the back. Comes with original cover that has wear and splits. The speakers are original. On the back it says it has 180 watts at 4 ohms. See pic of invoice. A full set of new capacitors and 3 new tubes were installed. The standby switch was replaced. The polarity switch has been bypassed now. The last pic shows all of the old components that were replaced. The amp now works perfectly. I bought this from a store on South Street in Philadelphia in the 1980′s. The serial number sticker is missing. It was that way when I bought it. It weighs 90 pounds. It must be picked up in person. Here’s a really cool tube amplifier. It has mic (or guitar) level input and also line-level input. The phono-plug mic-level input has sensitivity 0.02 V for full output and the RCA line-level input has sensitivity 0.3 V for full output. A two way speaker system in the front which sounds awesome and is really fantastic with a vintage microphone. There’s certainly some potential here for a busking guitar amp or a harmonica amp. All the electrolytics were replaced with F&T or other high quality replacements, Coupling capacitors were replaced as well. No more leaky drifting wax caps. They are well testing vintage tubes. A 6X4 Rectifier, 6V6 Power tube and 12AX7. It operates without issues. Its been brought up to electrical safety standard with a grounded AC cable and a fuse holder was added. These were not fused from the factory. It’s sure to leave you with a repair bill soon after.

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Twin Reverb in collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original Victoria Luggage cover, Fender catalog, and two-button footswitch. A nearly dead stock and minimally serviced example with a full vintage tube set, this Twin’s condition is all the more uncommon given its size. While Fender’s smaller combos of the era can occasionally be found in pristine shape, it’s significantly rarer to find Fender’s gig-worthy large combos (which generally saw much rougher usage) as well-kept as this example. This Twin delivers warm, articulate cleans with ample bass response, a wide-ranging and responsive EQ, and present, sparkling Fender top end. When it comes to the quintessential Black Panel Fender amp for clarity, headroom, and the balanced, authoritative response of a four 6L6 driven tube amp, it’s hard to beat the Twin. The tube-driven Reverb effect has incredible depth and splash, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with a wide range of speeds. It’s as iconic a design as Leo Fender ever created, also very well-suited to amplifying pedal steel or electric piano in the vein of a Wurlitzer or Fender Rhodes. The circuit is extremely straight, retaining all of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors, a key part of the sweet, musical character of the Black Panel-era preamps. All of the original Schumacher-made transformers are intact, with date codes spanning mid-1966 to early’67. The original CTS pots have visible date codes from the 38th week of’66. The amp has a single new electrolytic capacitor in the preamp along with a new bias capacitor. Even the stock power supply caps are still intact and viable. The power tubes comprise three Sylvanias and a closely matched Fender-branded 6L6 with the same construction. The preamp features RCA, Amperex and GE-branded valves. The speakers are the original pair of Fender-branded Jensen C12Ns with clean black frames. The most popular (and relatively uncommon) vintage speaker option offered in the Black Panel era Twin, these Jensens offer excellent headroom, clarity and detail. The tube chart is clean and fully intact, with an “QD” date stamp that translates to April of 1967. The original black tolex is exceptionally clean, and the silver sparkle grillcloth shows minimal wear and modest darkening. The faceplate is notably well-kept, retaining a full complement of original witch hat knobs. All of the original hardware is present, including the chrome tilt back legs, nickel corners, sphinx glides, handle, and raised Fender logo on the amp’s face. The original two-button footswitch is included, along with the original Victoria Luggage-branded slip cover and the factory paperwork comprising the full color Fender catalog and a pair of schematics.

Everything on this amp works flawlessly. I replaced the torn tolex shortly after receiving it and replaced a capacitor in 07. I recently had the VIB switch in the footswitch replaced. Grill cloth is as I received it (probably original). On the tube sticker inside the cab, (See pics), I question the tale of the letter “Q”. It almost appears to be a squiggly line through what may be the letter “O”. “Q” would indicate the year 1967. “O” would indicate the year 1965. Chassis #A 00152 indicates 1964. Transformer #606343 Indicates 1963. Far and away, the outstanding feature of this amp is the Celestion G12 Vintage 30 speakers made on Foxhall Rd. These speakers came with the amp when I acquired it. These speakers are highly efficient and slightly louder than most. It is located here in southern, Colorado. If you ever dreamed of what a vintage Fender amp would sound like through vintage Celestion speakers, your dream is here, now. Vinyl cover is included.

Rumor has it that the Motor City Madman himself, Ted Nugent, challenged CBS’s amp designer, Ed Jahns to increase the power of a Twin Reverb using a typical 2 12 inch speaker cabinet. This is at a time when competition from other manufacturers such as Marshall, Hiwatt, and Mesa Boogie were building more and more powerful amps, and Ed wanted to top them all. He also developed the most comprehensive equalizer tone section that’s been in any Fender amp. This amp has power to spare and was so powerful that Ted Nugent only needed six of them (with Dual Showman speaker cabinets for a concert). This amp is serious business because it is so loud and clean at 180 watts. Steel guitar players are very fond of this amp design. The one and only drawback of the. The compact amp in a typical Twin Reverb cabinet, is the ridiculous heavy weight added by it’s speakers with oversized magnet structure. The only thing that makes sense to me now is cutting the cabinet down to a head so you have the flexibility of use with other speaker cabinets and transportation. We had our cabinet builder cut the amp down and we preserved the reverb spring unit, footswitch, and the tube chart. This amp is still complete with out speakers. This amp is now a more reasonable approx. Recently (July 2024) I took it to my current amp tech and he replaced the filter caps, pilot light, powered it for an hour and checked operation. He says it’s now in great shape. The reverb “tray” or “tank” or “spring unit” is located where Fender originally had it installed – on the inside bottom of the cabinet. Our cabinet builder has left enough space for it to fit. The reason why we don’t “install” the reverb tank (screw it down inside the cabinet) is so the user can position it how they want it, to the right side of the cabinet away from the tubes or even outside of the cabinet itself since it has about 18inches of cable connecting to the back of the amp chassis. Only the original cabinet has been shortened in height – speakers have been removed – everything else is located where it’s always been including the foot-switch. By turning these amps to heads, they can now be used for ANY amplification needs! Public address, bass, electric piano, organ, accordion, guitar, harmonica, steel guitar.. This platform makes an excellent bass amp paired with a suitable cabinet (4 ohm or greater)- complete flexibility and much more convenient with its increased portability.
