McIntosh MC240 Early Vintage Tube Amplifier-CLEAN-Original circuit-TESTED
Here we have a very clean McIntosh MC240! This was the first stereo amp introduced by McIntosh… This particular unit was boxed up in storage by previous owner for quite some time. I powered the amplifier up very slowly with a variac and it performs like a real champ! There is no hum from the amp and the sound quality is good, but the tubes have not been tested and a new set of quality matched tubes should make a marked improvement. Most of the tubes are Zenith, one is RCA, one with worn off markings. I believe this could be an early production model. I’ve provided the photos which should help date the unit. The circuitry appears to be all original. Please note chassis stamp number 133. Also rubber stamp numbers on inside chassis. Included is a photo of the backs of the potentiometers which should help date this amp. Switches and pots are all working well and sound clean. Chrome is in especially nice condition and silk screen lettering in in very good condition but a little wear on some letters. Also please note that the top left corner of the Right speaker terminal strip is broken and the screw has a larger head compared to the others and was probably swapped out at one time. Other McIntosh listings coming soon! C-22, MR71, C4s, C-8, C-108, MX110.
