From a local estate collection of several high end audio pieces. This Mcintosh MC240 has been tested and sounds great. I used a small pair of 4 inch full range near field speakers for testing and it really sings. I also tested all the driver tubes, which are a mixed bag, and all are in spec. Output tubes are SED WINGED C. They tested good on my BK-700 tester reading a 74, 69, 85, 89. On the BK the good range is from 66-120. I don’t know when or if this amp has ever been serviced. It was one part of a nice high end sound system for listening to music and/or as part of a home theatre setup. There were multiple amps and speakers and a nice projection system with a movie screen as well as turntables and lots of record albums, just to give you a feel of the environment it came from.
Used McIntosh amplifier in very nice condition, no bubbles, clean face, sounds lovely with a mix of vintage tubes – McIntosh, Telefunken, and other brands. One guide pin is broken on a tube, but it still functions. Normal wear and tear expected with a 60-year-old vintage unit from the original owner. Please review the pictures and ask any questions before purchasing.

We don’t just power test our units and then write “tested, works” in the title (like a lot of other sellers we see). We usually always include a video unique to every item for you to see for yourself (for working units). Apart from that we put work into every unit, specializing in cosmetics which ranges from cleaning pots/switches to polishing the windows on receivers and conditioning the wood on wooden cases and speakers. In good cosmetic condition, has some scratches/marks, see pictures for details. Unit has been cleaned all around to remove as many blemishes and dirt as possible. Silver base has been polished to remove some light scratches and increase the shine. Only comes with what you see in the pictures which includes the unit itself only. Unit has been fully tested and works great for the most part apart from some red plating on one of the amps which can be seen in the video demo. This might be a very simple fix and the unit still works. One of the output tubes on the second to last picture has a broken orientation base but still works. They have been marked with black marker to show you which way to place it in (place it in facing the silver mcintosh logo). Above you’ll see both units pictured separately so you can see exactly what you’re getting with detailed pictures of each. Both units come from a retired vintage HiFi store owner who took good care of them. See video above for demo. Upon purchasing this item you accept and agree that you have reviewed all of the pictures and understand that what you see is what you are getting. This also means that despite what we wrote in the description if you see (or don’t see) something in the pictures we didn’t mention or we missed, the picture should speak for itself at that point. If you have any questions please message us and we will be happy to respond to your questions/concerns. To avoid confusion, this does not specifically mean that this item is an “as is” item unless stated in the description above.
