VINTAGE Supro 16T Guitar Amp. In the late 1960s and the early 1970s Jimmy Page selected the Supro as his main studio amp, why? Its only 5 watts so you are not going to be able to over power a drummer like John Bonham. I think he choose the Supro because it is one of the best guitar amplifiers ever made. Jimmy Page loved great guitar tone and he knew how to get it, after all he was a studio session guitarist before he formed Led Zeppelin. The Tube rectifier makes your guitar sound like you are recording with an LA2A compressor. Thick creamy tones when driven hard and big cutting edgy tones when you back off on the volume. This is very simple amp that sounds good with any pedal and at any volume setting. I would go as far to say that is a classic amp as the plexi is a classic amp. However for some reason the price on these amps is much more reasonable than other classics. Most likely due to the fact that the masses dont realize a lot of their favorite guitar heroes tones were recorded with these smaller amps in the studio. Preamp: 2 x JJ Electronics ECC83 (12 AX7). Rectifier: 1 x Vintage 1960s RCA 5Y3. Power: 1 x Vintage 1960s RCA 6V6. The tone knob sometimes makes noise when turned, and can cause the amp to sound broken (this is a temporary problem fixed by turning the knob again). It is probably not just a dirty pot, the pot most likely worn however it works fine and sound great if you twist it again or just leave it set to the setting you like. In addition One knob is not original, however it is vintage. The screen print which identifies the inputs has worn off. It looks like it has been well played was not a stay in the bedroom amp, this amp has definitely been gigged with and looks beat up. Still, I would say over all this amp is in great condition and sounds amazing. The grill board hole was not modifed for the replacement speaker, so it technically does not cover the hole perfectly and the screws are not vintage correct, however it functions well and sounds great. Actually sounds better than the original speaker. This amp is around 50 years old and definitely shows its age as you would expect. The Power tubes are authentic vintage RCA and are in perfect condition, there is no other way to get that sound. It looks old and a very worn with rips on the cover and tears on the grill, just what you would expect and want in a vintage amp. No APO or PO Box. Thank you for your consideration.
