Vintage Tube Amp

No mid-fi, no gimmicks, no junk. Each piece of equipment is cosmetically restored and fully tested in our well-equipped lab by an engineer with 30+ years of experience in the HiFi world. Through our sister company, which is an authorized dealer for McIntosh, Audio Research, Sonus Faber, ClearAudio, Project, and Sony ES, we have access to OEM parts, service, and support. This vintage pair of McIntosh MC60 monoblock amplifiers were modified by a hobbyist at some point in the past. One amp has a choke in the power supply, the other does not. The amp without the choke also has some neon bulbs on the tag board as shown in our listing photos. The slight differences in design do not affect the final outcome, as they tested the same in our lab and in our listening tests. Both amps were tested at our bench and fundamentally work. Both were driven into clipping with a 1 kHz sine wave and meet the official McIntosh 60W power specification. Although these amps technically work, we recommend further service/restoration before putting them into daily use. They are both good bones for a restoration, or someone looking to experience the glory of vintage tube monoblocks from McIntosh. During our testing we did notice an intermittent issue where the grid bias of one output tube would drop, causing the associated tube to red plate (not what you want to happen with any tube in operation). This issue was resolved by swapping out the final 12AX7 tube before the output tubes. Please note this listing includes the 2 x MC60 units, along with the vacuum tubes pictured in our images.
