Up for sale, a 1988 Marshall Studio 15 tube amplifier in excellent condition and in perfect working order. An uncommon Marshall model and one of the true hidden gems of the company’s’80s offerings, the Studio 15 has an unconventional 6V6 power tube compliment that delivers an envious array of classic Marshall tones. The cleans are smooth and dynamic, and the gain is absolutely roaring, with sizzle and bite that is characteristically closer to a Plexi than a JCM800. The controls are simple and straightforward, with a Gain knob, three bands of EQ, and an Output Level control so the player can balance cleans and grit at the desired volume. And even with the master volume in the lower part of its range, the amp still retains low end muscle and fullness. The original Celestion Vintage 30 is intact, with a BX prefix date code that translates to February of 1988. All of the original transformers are present and the amp is very clean cosmetically, with no wear of note. This is the last year they were hand wired with almost all of it’s original parts in tact. A three prong cord was added for safety and 1K screen resistors were added to prolong the life of the EL34′s. Other than that it looks like 2 of the coupling caps were changed to Orange Drops. The outside of the amp has typical wear for a 44 year old amplifier. The amp sounds phenomenal and it will get LOUD! The inside of this one is CLEAN. Up for sale, a 1982 Marshall JCM800 4104 2×12 tube amplifier in excellent condition and in good working order. This early vertical input JCM800 head shares many similarities to the earlier JMP and can deliver the thick crunch, sizzle, and power for which the 800 series is known. Fully serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and biased to perfection with a pair of EL34s, this Marshall is ready for stage and studio use. The circuit is very original, with stock Drake transformers that date to 1982. A few new Sprague Orange Drop caps have been installed in the preamp alongside the original Wimas, keeping everything operating within original factory spec. The filter caps have been replaced as well, and the low gain input has been modded (a Plexi mod if you will) to give it a hotter signal. As such, the high gain input has been mellowed out just slightly given the increased gain to the low input. The amp is loaded with the original pair of 25 watt Celestion G12M Greenbacks, both of which have clean frames and original cones. The amp retains the original molded plastic feet, corners, knobs, and handle caps, as well as the large “Marshall” logo and piping on the black grillcloth. The original black tolex shows its fair share of nicks and tears (particularly on the bottom of the enclosure), but has survived the last 35 years in style and would look great on stage or in the studio.
