Vintage Heathkit Hi-Fi Speaker System with Jensen Drivers – Tested & Working. Very cool original Heathkit speaker system dating from the late 1950s. The cabinet retains its original Heathkit script badge and appears to remain largely original internally. The speaker has been opened and inspected. It contains a Jensen 12 woofer and Jensen HF-106 high-frequency driver, along with the original-style crossover components and rear-mounted high-frequency level control. 220 = Jensen Manufacturing Co. Manufactured 52nd week of 1957. Jensen HF-106 High-Frequency Driver. Manufactured 31st week of 1957. The speaker has been tested and both drivers are working. The rear high-frequency control was cleaned with DeoxIT and is functioning properly. Sound is quite good considering the age of the system. Please keep in mind that this is a late-1950s high-fidelity speaker design and should not be expected to produce the deep bass or high output of a modern loudspeaker. The cabinet shows normal cosmetic wear consistent with its age. Please examine all photos carefully for the exact cosmetic condition. The internal components have been left intact; no attempt has been made to modernize or recap the crossover. A very nice survivor for a vintage Heathkit/Jensen system, early hi-fi collection, tube amplifier setup, or restoration project. Unit is 23″w x 12″d x 11.5h.

These speakers were just removed from their factory cabinet. They are a matching pair of 1959 smooth cone Jensen P15Q speakers. They have only been hooked to a low wattage tube organ amplifier and have never had more than 10 W through them combined. The original cones have no rips holes or voice coil rub. The frames look excellent with no rust anywhere.

Up for sale, a 1966 Silvertone 1481 vintage Class A tube amp in excellent condition. Freshly serviced, this amp features a simple single channel design with a 6V6 power tube and 8 Jensen speaker. Roughly equivalent to a Fender Champ, the 1481 offers sweet, sparkling cleans and overdriven grit. The point-to-point circuit retains the original transformer pair, the CTS pots have visible date codes from the 17th week of’66, and the original two-prong power cable is present. The 8 alnico magnet Jensen speaker is a later substitution, more powerful than the original speaker and dating to 1961. The cabinet retains its gray textured exterior, gold sparkle grillcoth and small Silvertone badge.

Curio Modern Vintage Audio. 1960s Silvertone 1472 Tube Amp. Warm Clean & Overdrive. This early-1960s Silvertone 1472 was built by Danelectro for Sears. It is a fantastic studio amplifier famous for its warm clean tones, natural tube overdrive when turned up, and a deep, swampy tremolo circuit. Original Components & Factory Specs. Collector Originality: This specific unit commands a premium due to its unswapped, factory-original vintage internal hardware, which is exceptionally rare to find intact together. Factory Jensen Speaker: Retains the original 12-inch Jensen Ceramic Speaker (Date code 220826, manufacturing code EMI220 C8138 5). The cone and basket are completely intact and structurally sound. Original Factory Cabinet: The speaker baffle board features the original factory ink stamp. Dating the cabinet assembly to late July of 1962. Original Vintage Tubes: Includes the original, factory-installed vintage American tubes: one RCA 6V6GT and one Sylvania 6V6GT. Tech & Condition Report. Power Cord Note: The amplifier retains its original 2-prong power cord. A 3-prong grounding adapter block is included to help minimize ground crackle, but the internal circuit has not been re-wired. Controls: Volume, tone, and the tremolo speed/strength knobs all function cleanly. Cosmetics: The dark grey vinyl covering shows typical vintage wear, including a split on the back upper left edge, some corner scuffs, and areas where the vinyl has peeled up. Please examine all photos closely to verify cosmetic condition. You are welcome to bring your own guitar to plug in and test it out before taking it home. CURIO MODERN. LOWER EAST SIDE, MANHATTAN. Up for sale, a 1954 Gibson GA-20 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Featuring original two-tone cosmetics, a Jensen P12R speaker, and a professionally serviced circuit, this GA-20 is the perfect mid-size combo from the golden age of tube amplification. In many ways analogous to Fender’s narrow panel tweed amps of the same era, the GA-20 features a four input design with a 6V6 power tube pair, 5Y3GT rectifier, and dual triode (12AX7, etc) tubes in the preamp. Offering distinctly different voicings between the single Microphone input and the three Instrument inputs, the GA-20 is at its most aggressive via the Mic channel. While this input does offer a modicum of clean headroom, it quickly overdrives with a sizzling, chewy sound that’s extremely smooth. The Tone control has an absolutely massive sweep, actually adding a bit more gain when turned up. Maxing out both Volume and Tone knobs yields a ripping, cutting sound that interacts equally well with single coils and humbuckers. The Instrument inputs have more range in the clean signal, with a full-bodied and sweet sound that works well with a host of effects pedals. Turning down the Tone knob on this channel and pushing the Volume can achieve a very nice bark and a spitty quality almost akin to certain fuzz boxes, depending on the guitar being used, and once again diming everything out delivers plenty of richness and roar. The point-to-point circuit has been professionally serviced and thoroughly recapped with premium tubular signal caps in the preamp and F&T power supply caps. The output transformer has been replaced with a vintage-accurate Mercury Magnetics ToneClone GA20-O, mounted to the speaker frame, while the original power transformer is intact, mounted to the back of the chassis. The speaker is the original Jensen P12R alnico magnet driver which has a dark blue/green frame. The speaker has been recently professionally reconed, and the date code on the edge of the frame is from the 9th week of’54. The original two-tone covering exhibits limited wear (particularly when considering the fragility of this material compared to a conventional tolex or tweed), primarily concentrated around the edges, and half of the gold Gibson badge is still intact on the amp’s face. The graphics on the brown faceplate are clean, the brown chickenhead knobs are present, and the leather handle has been replaced.

Up for sale, a 1961 Fender Vibrolux in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original footswitch. Loaded with a full vintage tube set, this narrow panel tweed-era Vibrolux amp has the coveted 5F11 circuit, offering a range of dynamic tones to match its good looks. The sound is shimmering and harmonically rich, delivering round cleans and overdriven grit and bite higher on the Volume dial, cascading into ripping tube saturation at its highest settings. The tremolo is bias-based and has a strong pulse, with a smooth waveform and plenty of intensity and present percussive chop. The circuit features the original Triad power transformer and Schumacher output transformer (dating to the 46th week of’60). The preamp has a bevy of original yellow Astron capacitors, as well as two stock CTS pots dating to 1959 and’60 (two replacement pots are from the 1980s). The power supply has been professionally recapped, along with the smaller electrolytic caps in the preamp. A modern three-prong power cable has been installed. The tube set includes all vintage valves, with a Sylvania-branded rectifier and Telefunkens in the preamp. The tube chart is intact, noting the 5F11 circuit, stamped “KA, ” which dates to January of’61. The amp is loaded with the original Jensen P10R 10 speaker which has a dark blue/green frame, ribbed cone, stock bell cover and stamp on the edge of the frame from the 48th week of’59. The amp presents extremely well, and the original lacquered tweed is only modestly ambered, paired with the original oxblood/gold stripe grillcloth. The face of the amp retains its metal Vibrolux badge, and the leather handle is a vintage-style replacement. The chassis is positively gleaming, with bright chrome plating, all of the original white silkscreen text intact, and stock chicken head knobs. The original black molded footswitch for engaging the vibrato is included.

Up for sale, a 1951 Fender Pro, fully serviced and retaining the original tweed and transformers, complete with a vintage tube set. This was the very first iteration of this classic lacquered tweed “TV front” model, and this era Pro is perhaps best known as being the amp Buddy Holly recorded all of his hits on at the Norman Petty studio in New Mexico. The baffle and face of the cabinet have been altered (presumably to resemble the later “narrow panel” Tweed amps) with a more squared-off appearance and modified baffle mounting brackets. A very powerful and high fidelity amp in its day, the Pro pushed close to 40 sweet and dynamic tube watts through one 15 Jensen P15N alnico speaker. The early octal preamp tubes give these TV front amps a different tonal color than any later Fenders, as the octals have a more girthy midrange and a kind of warmth that can’t be achieved with the later dual triode (12AX7, etc) tubes Fender used from the mid-1950′s through the present day. Just like you’d expect with Buddy Holly’s cutting and robust rhythm sound, the Pro can give you primitive Fender cleans that chime and growl, with surprising headroom and a tone that overall really fills out the frequency spectrum when paired with Fender’s single coil pickups of the day. The circuit has been maintained faithful to original factory spec, with a full recap of the power supply with high quality Sprague Atom filter caps. The preamp has replaced caps as well, with replica white Astron sleeves on what appear to be genuine vintage blue Ajax capacitors (as Fender would use in their later Brown and Black Panel amps). The original trio of Stackpole pots have visible date codes from the 18th week of’51. The original Triad power transformer is intact, along with the stock output transformer mounted to the speaker frame. The amp has also been fitted with a modern three-prong power cable. The power tubes are a pair of properly-biased vintage USA-made RCA 6L6GCs, with a GE-branded 5U4 rectifier and trio of RCA 6SC7 preamp tubes. The chassis is in great overall condition, with only a light speckling of patina and the majority of the original white silkscreen text intact. All three original chicken head knobs are present too, along with a modern leather handle and original metal Fender logo on the face. The Jensen P15N speaker is stock, sporting a clean dark green frame and original Jensen foil label on the bell cover. The original tube chart is present as well and very clean with crisp corners and hand-inked serial number. The original low contrast diagonal tweed is intact, and the tweed is deeply ambered. The tweed covering is no longer present on the bottom of the cabinet, and the baffle has been regrilled with vintage-style oxblood/gold stripe cloth. As the cabinet’s face was altered from the TV front design to a more squared off appearance, the baffle is mounted to the cabinet by a number of L-shaped brackets.
