PHYSICAL CONDITION: Very Good – The logo has broken off in the front. There are some scratches and dings but they are fairly light for being an old vintage piece. The control panel has a bit of surface rust but otherwise this amp is in very good physical condition! WORKING CONDITION: Excellent – Recently serviced by the incredible Bob Dixon and is in what is likely the greatest playing shape of it’s life. Works perfectly all around. GIBSON GA-15RVT VACUUM TUBE GUITAR AMP. This Gibson GA-RVT guitar amp works and sounds great. The amp is used and is approximately 65 years old with normal signs of wear and tear but not any mistreatment. The amp puts out around 15 watts. The circuit was refurbished. New filter capacitors were installed. Out of tolerance resistors were replaced. All capacitors in the signal path were replaced with modern and fresh capacitors. Everything is there with the amp such as the original working foot pedal, working reverb and tremolo, a new 10″ “Real Vintage speaker that was a major improvement over the original, worn-out factory speaker. The tolex is heavy-duty and shows some normal wear for a 60+ year-old amp. The handle was built to last and is very robust. The back brace is missing as well as the insert on the on/off knob. All the vacuum tubes are US made except one and all tested and sound great. There are two Sylvania 6BQ5/EL84 power tubes, an RCA 5963 (12AU7 equivalent) and two 6EU7 preamp tubes, one RCA and one Mullard. It’s a great amp ready to go for many more years. THE ORIGINAL FORBES MUSIC BRONZE LOGO IS STILL INTACT AND ON THE AMP CABINET. THEY WERE WERE ORIGINALLY DESIGNED FOR ORGANS BUT ALSO MAKE A FINE GUITAR AMP. THE ORIGINAL TOLEX AND SPEAKER GRILL CLOTH HAD TO BE REMOVED DUE TO A PREVIOUS OWNER SPRAY PAINTING IT WITH NUMEROUS COATS OF GLOSS BLACK PAINT THAT COULD NOT BE REMOVED. I’VE HAD THE AMP RECOVERED IN NEW VINTAGE CORRECT TWEED TOLEX, NEW VINTAGE CORRECT OXBLOOD SPEAKER GRILL CLOTH WAS INSTALLED, THE ORIGINAL JENSEN 15 SPEAKER WAS PROFESSIONALLY RECONED AND I RECENTLY HAD IT SERVICED BY A PROFESSIONAL AMP TECNICIAN WHO REPLACED THE POTS, FILTER CAPACITORS AND A FEW RESISTORS AND ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITORS. THE AMP STILL HAS ALL ITS ORIGINAL TUBES AND ORIGINAL TWO PRONG POWER CORD. BASICALLY THIS IS THE EQUIVALENT OF A FENDER PRINCETON AMP WITH A 15 SPEAKER. IT WORKS AND SOUNDS GREAT.
