Vintage Tube Amp

Up for sale here is this rare vintage Knight KB-85 tube amplifier. This normally runs 4 EL37 output tubes, two 5AR4 (GZ-34) rectifier tubes, two 12AX7 tubes, and two EF86 tubes. This includes two 12AX7s, two EF86s, four 5881 output tubes, but no 5AR4s, sorry. The EF86s and 12AX7s are untested but will probably work fine, but the 5881s are pretty worn-out and will need replacing. The two metal tube covers are included. This is in great shape with light to moderate overall wear, with absolutely beautiful chrome. The extremely rare top cage/cover is included. It has the Knight badge on one side. The cover does have some rust on it, but since the top part of the cover is removable it would be pretty easy to sand down and repaint it. This is currently in non-working condition. Other than the tubes, this appears to be completely original–the previous owner told me that this blew the fuse at least 30+ years ago and was just set aside at the time. Up for sale here is this vintage Harman Kardon Citation II tube amplifier. This is in fairly decent shape but does have some missing paint on the transformers, some light to moderate rust, and some overall moderate wear. The bottom cover is included, but there is no top cage, sorry. No tubes are included. The inside appears to have all the boards and parts, though I don’t know if it’s missing anything or not. The power cord is there but is frayed and should obviously be replaced. There is an ID number scratched above the rear meter, and the rear fuseholder is tucked inside the chassis for some reason. A proper rebuild on a Citation II involves replacing a TON of stuff, so realistically this isn’t that bad. You will probably want to completely disassemble this, sandblast and repaint the chassis and transformers, install new sockets, and do the full recap/rebuild. What you see is exactly what you get. I will guarantee the transformers to be good, but the rest of it is not guaranteed. Lease see my pictures for details. If you have any questions, please ask. Up for sale here is this vintage Harman Kardon Citation II tube amplifier. This is in pretty good shape, with light to moderate overall wear and a bit of missing paint on the transformers. This has been updated to some extent by a previous owner. It has test points on the back instead of the meter, has a few new electrolytic caps underneath, and has some orange drop caps as well. This has been modified to run 7199 tubes in V1 and V4 positions instead of the original 12BY7s. I have no idea why, but this had 7199s in those sockets when I got it. The previous owner told me this was rewired to a Dynaco Stereo 70 circuit, with some new caps and new boards. This has 1/4 jacks on the back instead of RCA jacks–I don’t know why. I was told that this worked fine, but I turned it on and only got music out of the right channel. The left channel had a very faint hum. I’m sure it’s something minor, but either way, I’d recommend fully rebuilding this with updated circuitry. All tubes are included, and are untested but seem to work fine. Output tubes are Russian KT-88s. 12BY7s are vintage USA tubes, and the 7199s are one Russian and one USA. This includes the bottom cover but does not have a top cage/cover, sorry. The power cord is in good shape. The previous owner noted that some of the caps had been updated but that they had not set the bias or AC balance voltages. I do not know how good the modifications on this are, so I would suggest a complete rebuild on this–caps, tube sockets, etc. What you see is exactly what you get. I will guarantee the transformers to be good, but I do not feel this is ready for day-to-day use. Lease see my pictures for details. If you have any questions, please ask.
