1965 Fender Pro Reverb Blackface Vintage Tube Amplifier 2x12 with Footswitch

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Pro Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order with the original two-button footswitch. Providing the general tonal character of a Twin Reverb, but boasting a tube rectifier and more manageable 40 watts of power, the Pro Reverb is a 2×12 amplifier with enough volume for large ensemble situations and the perfect balance between shimmering Blackface cleans and smooth, touch-sensitive overdrive. A great platform for effects pedals too, the cleans on this Pro are balanced, clear, and warm. Of course once you reach around 5 on the volume dial, things start to compress slightly, and you get that dynamic, glassy sound that adds just the right amount of grit to your tone. The tube-driven Reverb has plenty of splash and dimension, and the tremolo has a strong, smooth pulse and wide range of speeds. Very original and well maintained, this Pro Reverb is ready for stage and studio use! The circuit is extremely original, with the original compliment of Schumacher-made transformers, dating between the 13th and 23rd weeks of’65. The stock CTS pots are all intact as well, dating to early’65, and the chassis stamp notes a 1965 build date as well. The preamp retains all of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors which are a hallmark of the Blackface tone, as well as new bias and bypass caps to ensure optimal operation. Even the original power supply caps are intact and still functioning well. A modern three-prong power cable has been installed, and the amp is loaded with all modern valves including a pair of matched JJ 6L6s and a GZ34 rectifier. The speakers are a pair of vintage Fender-labeled CTS 12 speakers which date to 1979. The tube chart is fully intact, with an “OI” date stamp that translates to September of 1965. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth is intact and in remarkable shape. The cloth has only light aging, and the tolex shows only some minor scuffs and nicks on the edges of the enclosure. The stock hardware is in great shape including original tilt back legs, chassis straps, corners, sphinx glides (feet), and handle. This Pro Reverb has fresh tubes, a very original circuit, and sounds every bit as good as a Blackface Fender should! The original two-button footswitch is included. 1967 Fender Bassman Vintage Blackface Piggyback Tube Amp 2x12 AB165 Circuit

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab excellent condition and in perfect working order. This vintage Blackface Fender amp features a well-maintained and very original circuit, with stock transformers and a fresh recap of the power supply. The AB165 circuit delivers clarity, warmth, and headroom, and this Bassman excels at sweet and articulate Fender clean tones with the distinctive punch of the accompanying 2×12 closed-back cabinet design. Once you reach about 5 on the volume dial, the circuit starts to overdrive smoothly and compress a bit, for a raw, thick sound that’s perfect for guitar or bass. It’s a simple and pure vintage Fender “piggyback” head and cab setup that provides a perfect platform for effect pedals, and is ready for stage and studio use. The AB165 circuit retains all of the original Schumacher transformers which date to late’66. The stock CTS pots date to early 1966 as well, while the chassis stamp puts the amp’s manufacture at early’67. The preamp retains the full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, as well as a few new smaller bypass and bias caps to ensure optimal operation. The power amp has also been professionally recapped with top-tier F&T capacitors, and the power cable changed to a modern three-prong. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is present with a “QD” date stamp which translates to April of 1967. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of vintage Fender-branded 12 drivers including one Oxford and one Utah made speaker with nearly identical black frames and original blue foil Fender labels on the ceramic magnets. The speakers deliver a bold and smooth sound with ideal punch and top end detail without being overly bright. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth on both the head and speaker cabinet. There are some expected small scuffs and nicks on the edges of the enclosures, but no serious wear of any kind, and this amp would look great in a studio collection. All of the original hardware is present, including the tilt-back chrome legs, nickel corners, handles, sphinx glides (feet), and Fender logos. The faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. There’s a bit of localized patina and light surface rust on the tilt-back legs and bottom corners of the cabinet, but that’s about the extent of any wear. This Bassman is clean, complete, and works exactly as intended for delivering powerful Fender cleans and thick overdriven textures. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Bassman tube amplifier head in excellent condition and in good working order. Recently serviced and complete with fresh power tubes, this Bassman works exactly as intended with the AB165 circuit. Tonally, this amp delivers the rich and powerful tones associated with the Blackface sound, and the cleans are robust and detailed. Pushing the amp past around 5 on the Volume dial of either channel begins to coax shades of overdrive out of the circuit, with moderate compression and plenty of crunch and bite when you dime the amp out. Perfect for guitar or bass, this amp truly excels when delivering sweet, sparkling cleans. The circuit is very original with stock Schumacher transformers that both date to early’67. The power supply has been recapped with high quality F&Ts, and there are a couple new Sprague Orange Drop caps in the preamp as well as a new bias cap to ensure stable voltages to the power tubes. The preamp is otherwise nearly untouched and retains all but one of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps that are an essential part of the Blackface sound. The original CTS pots are also all accounted for, dating back to mid-1966. The power cable has also been upgraded to a modern three-prong variety. Present inside the head cab, the stock tube chart is present, with a “QF” date stamp which translates to June of 1967. Cosmetically, this amp is very clean clean, with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. Save for a new pair of Fender piggyback clip bars, all of the original hardware is present including the chassis straps, handle caps, and sphinx glides. The faceplate shows limited wear with bold silkscreened graphics and stock witch hat knobs. The back panel is a modern replacement that matches the otherwise original tolex on the head. This Bassman is very original, professionally serviced, and recently retubed with a matched pair of JJ 6L6s. Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Bassman head and matching 2×12 cab loaded with Oxford 12T6 speakers in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This vintage Blackface Fender amp is a rare transitional model with a larger cabinet meant to be oriented vertically, yet still smaller than the Silverface cabinets seen by’68. For clarity, warmth, and headroom, this Bassman excels at delivering sweet and articulate Fender clean tones, and the increased cabinet size boosts the low end response. The AB165 circuit retains all of the original Schumacher transformers which all date to 1967 along with the chassis stamp, while the CTS pots date back to’66. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are present in the virtually untouched preamp, while the bias cap and main filter caps have been freshly replaced with top tier Spragues to guarantee decades of future, trouble-free performance. A modern three-prong power cable has been installed too. On the inside of the head cabinet, the original tube chart is clean and intact with a “QF” date stamp which translates to June of 1967. The speaker cab is loaded with a pair of vintage, factory-spec Oxford 12T6 speakers which date to’72, and these 12 drivers are a perfect compliment for the Blackface Bassman. These speakers are detailed, clear, and well-balanced, overdriving with very rich and balanced overtones. The frames are near mint, the original blue foil Fender labels are present, and both speakers have their original cones. Cosmetically, this is a clean and well cared for Bassman with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth on both the head and speaker cabinet. There are only a few small scuffs and nicks on the edges of the enclosures, and this amp would look great in a studio collection. All of the original hardware is present, including the nickel corners, handles, sphinx glides (feet), and Fender logos. The faceplate is also quite clean and complete with original witch hat knobs. 1964 Fender Pro Vintage Blackface Pre-CBS Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL D130F

Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Pro in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. A true Pre-CBS example, this Pro pushes 40 watts of power via a pair of 6L6 power tubes through a single 15 JBL D130F speaker with its original cone. An ideal amp for crystalline Fender cleans and the sparkling, smooth response for which the Blackface era amps are known, this Pro delivers an extremely efficient and powerful sound, perfect for guitar or pedal steel and an ideal candidate for a Rhodes piano too. Tube rectified and notably responsive to your picking dynamics, this JBL D130F-equipped Pro offers a very articulate top end and incredible efficiency and projection, allowing the Pro to easily keep up with a band. The circuit is extremely stock, with a virtually untouched preamp and full recap of the power supply with high quality Sprague Atoms. All of the original blue molded Ajax tone caps are intact in the preamp too, an essential part of the sweet and musical quality of the Blackface amps. The Schumacher transformers are all original, dating to early 1964, and the original CTS pots and chassis stamp date to’64 as well. The original faceplate is extremely clean, with stock witch hat knobs and the “Fender Electric Instruments” text used in the Pre-CBS era. Inside the cabinet, the original tube chart is fully intact and only lightly aged, with an “NE” date stamp which translates to May of 1964. The JBL speaker is likely an aftermarket upgrade, but a speaker Fender did offer in this era in their Vibroverb and Showman amps. The speaker has a clean frame and most importantly its original JBL cone with a clean “21057″ cone stamp visible. Cosmetically, the amp is extremely clean, retaining the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The tolex is remarkably well-kept as the photos can attest, with sparingly little aging of the nickel hardware and moderate darkening of the grillcloth over the last 55 years. You are looking at a Vintage 1965 85 Watt Fender Showman “Blackface” All Tube Amp Head. The Fender Showman was introduced in 1960 and discontinued in 1993. This is an early model Pre CBS “Blackface” model with the original Blackface AB763 circuit. Fender used the AB763 circuit from 1963 to 1967 and than changed to the Silverface circuit AB568 in 1968. This is the circuit when a “Blackface” Mod is done. This is the “Right” one. This is the Iconic Blackface. Dick Dale the legendary Godfather of “Surf Music” was enlisted by Fender as a Test Pilot to help develop the Showman Amp. Dick Dale has frequently spoken of his role in the development of the Showman, and boasts of having blown up nearly 50 amplifiers before Fender achieved a design that could take his heat. Whether or not the seminal surf guitarist exaggerates, his claims encompass the ambition of the Showman. The keys to creating the bigger, stronger, and louder amp required lay primarily in two major ingredients; a new output transformer (OT) and a new speaker cab design. The result is a nearly indestructible amp. Showman amps are revered for their big, sparkly clean tone. As you turn the amp up the cleans turn smoothly into that classic Blackface grind. With lots of neutral clean headroom, the amp makes a great platform for pedals as well. This amp is a great player, and you will be hard-pressed to find a modern amp of similar quality without spending thousands more. Sparkling, bright, clean sound with lots of headroom. If you are into Surf, Country, Rock or even Jazz, this amp will perform to your expectations. Our amp tech serviced this amp for the sale. He cleaned all pots, jacks, switches and tube sockets. Checked and re-biased tubes. Installed grounded 3-prong ac cord. Everything functions and works correctly. Gig Ready on Arrival. You won’t have to spend any additional monies on this amp. All transformers and pots are original. See Date Codes below. Power Transformer: #606.538. Choke Transformer: #606.538. Output Transformer: #606.517. Keep in mind that this is a 54+ year old vintage amp that has been used. Tolex in good shape but with an amp of this age there are always some scuffs, scratches and minor tears. Chrome chassis brackets and handle have some pitting and discoloration due to age. Grill cloth has faded and is a delightful yellow patina again due to age. No rips or tears. Instrument control bezel in good condition. All lettering is legible. Overall, a really nice amp. Better than normal wear and tear. Look at the pictures closely. They will tell the story. Up for sale, a 1966 Fender Deluxe Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb has a very original circuit that has been freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. Stocked with fresh 6V6 power tubes and an assortment of new and vintage preamp tubes, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has a clear and dynamic sound, delivering sparkling cleans that are a great effects pedal platform. The amp starts to saturate with smooth tube overdrive after about 5 on the volume dial, cascading into rich, lightly compressed crunch as you push the volume to 10. The Reverb is very lush with a long decay, and the tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three-dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity. The circuit is very original, with the original Schumacher output transformer, reverb transformer, and choke, while the power transformer is a genuine vintage Deluxe Reverb replacement from 1968, also manufactured by Schumacher. The preamp is loaded with the full compliment of the original blue Ajax molded capacitors, a key ingredient in the dynamic, musical tone of Fender’s Blackface amps, and all of the original CTS pots are intact as well, with date codes from mid-66. The power amp has been professionally recapped with Sprague Atoms, and the preamp features a new bias cap and smaller bypass caps to ensure the amp is operating within original factory spec. A three-prong power cable has been installed as well. The speaker is an era-correct vintage Fender 12 driver, manufactured by Utah and featuring a clean black frame, Fender blue foil sticker on the magnet, and date code from the 3rd week of’66. The speaker also features a fresh recone, delivering a smooth, balanced sound. Cosmetically, the amp is very original, with stock smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The tolex shows some light wear around the edges of the enclosure, with a couple small tears which have been glued flush and two nickel-sized holes (one on each side of the cabinet) which have been cleanly doweled with tolex on top so that they practically disappear. While the grillcloth is genuine lightly aged vintage Fender cloth, it has been re-stapled taut to the original baffle. All of the original hardware is present including the chassis straps, handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), corners, and raised Fender logo on the baffle. The original faceplate also shows sparingly little wear with bold graphics and stock witch hat knobs.
