Up for sale, a 1979 Fender Bassman 10 in excellent condition and in perfect working order. This Silverface Fender has been thoroughly serviced and is now arguably both more powerful and tonally rich than original factory spec. The speakers are a quad of modern Jensen 10 MOD speakers. Fresh back from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this Bassman 10 features a pair of brand new JJ 6L6 power tubes which have been properly biased, and also a thorough servicing of the entire circuit to ensure that this amp works as well or better than the day it left the Fender factory 40+ years ago! Ideal for guitar or bass, this later iteration of the Bassman 10 is notable for having much larger and more powerful transformers than those amps produced up through 1977, and as a result these ultra-linear transformers make the amp a truly viable option for bass. Comparable to the Bassman 70 head in terms of power and design, the Bassman 10 has the classic, lightly compressed sound of the earlier Bassman models, with ample headroom before pushing into smooth tube overdrive at around 5 on the Volume dial. The channels are individually voiced (Bass/Normal and Bass/Studio), with the first channel having a Deep switch and overall darker tonal character with more limited EQ sweep, while the second channel covers a much wider frequency range in terms of EQ and also has the added bonus of a Midrange knob. The tone is classic Fender chime, with a clean sound that sparkles and is the perfect platform for an array of effects pedals. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced with a few new caps in the preamp and a full recap of the main filter caps as well. Both original Schumacher transformers are intact and date to 1979, along with the original CTS pots. The original tube chart is partially intact too. Cosmetically, the amp retains its original smooth black tolex as well as the stock silver sparkle grillcloth The amp shows its fair share of scuffs and snags on the enclosure and faceplate, but is structurally sound. This Bassman 10 has been fully serviced and is ready for the road! Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! We use double thick boxes, 1″ foam, and industrial 1/2″ bubble wrap to assure that your amp arrives safely.
