Here is a great vintage Silvertone model 4707 tube amplifier. These originally came with a chord organ but they can convert into a really cool guitar amp. I’m thinking from the transformer code, this one would have been made around 1960. It looks to be all original. I haven’t tried to plug it in or test it. Here’s the tube compliment. The 12 speaker is an Oxford. It has some wear and nicks on the outside, especially on one end. The original grill cloth is sagging a little at the top. The back panel is missing. The little fiberboard backing plate for the amp chassis has come loose, it was stapled to the end blocks. The original RCA input jack mounting is broken but I’m thinking you’d replace that input for guitar anyway. Here is a vintage Silvertone 1474 twin reverb amp. The amp and all the controls are working, however, it does pop a lot and is a bit snowy due to its age. The amp does have a nice sound thus, if serviced, you might be able to get it to sound a lot cleaner. The tubes do say Silvertone on them so they are probably old. Included is the vintage foot switch as well. Tremolo and reverb appear to working. See photos for cosmetic condition (reasonably good considering how old it is). It has the usual dings, dust, and scratches, but no major tears on the outside and the cloth front is intact. Allow me to introduce myself. I have been involved in retail sales for over 40 years, the largest portion, of these years, having been my own successful retail auto sales / parts / repair business, which I started from scratch. So that the problem can be resolved. Trader-BOB’s MUSIC offers a nice little Spiegel Model 79C electric guitar tube amp. 3 active tubes, (1) 6SJ7, (1) 6V6GT, (1) 5Y3, and a multi capacitor can, on/off volume switch combined. Pot cleaned and lubed, all 5 paper capacitors replaced. Jensen ALINCO 5 speaker, professionally reconed, by Speaker Works in Fort Wayne IN. Grounded 3 wire plug / cord was installed when I got it. Has the number “5483″ ink stamped on it. Grill mesh, with music notes, in good shape. Pix#10, is of the full chassis, pix #11 is of the area that 4 of the 5 caps were replaced. The two bright orange ones, . 05 mfd – 600 volt, and the black & silver (22mfd, to replace 25 mfd-35volt) canister style ones. The fifth cap replaced, (seen in pix #10, right hand side) runs between the chassis ground, and live side of the fuse holder. This one is MIA in my trash can, and is absent from the pix #12. I removed the power-on light bulb to see if I can locate a replacement. I found a replacement bulb, (28v), works but a little dim. Probably requires a lower voltage bulb, but I got what I could get. Works great, does have a slight hum, volume sensitive. Maker unknown, possibly, Kay, Harmony, Valco, Danelectro, Supro, Magnetone, or maybe someone else. Have seen this style chassis in other amps. (Video Below) Although the unit works it does need some work to restore it to its full potential along with small work like the power cord on it is old, stiff, and cracking. I soldered and taped it for temporary purposes. The output was clean but highs were lacking and the lower end was present but not as clear as you’d expect. I used my fully functional SP-220 for testing. I do not have the cage and I also do not have enough tubes on hand to supply them for you as I need them for my other gear. The tubes in the pictures are just to demonstrate it is a working unit. None included The unit does have several marks and wear to the paint but the chassis and front and rear panels are free from damage or dents. Please use the photos and your knowledge and/or research of the unit or that of your personal tech or forums to ascertain the the overall restoration needs for the unit. My description is to the best of my knowledge but research on the buyers end before hand is expected as these are rare but there are a lot of experts out there to help you along.
