Ampeg B-15 N Portaflex tube amp. The Ampeg B-15N Portaflex of the 1960s, is considered the most recorded bass amplifier in history — and with good reason. This all-tube “fliptop” bass combo amp pairs a 25-watt top with simple volume and tone controls to a double baffle 1×15 cabinet which contributes significantly to the deep, classic tone that the B-15N can get you in a heartbeat. The top tier of bass players quickly adopted the B-15, including James Jamerson, John Paul Jones and Bill Wyman, and these amps remain studio staples even today. This is a working Chassis… This was powered on and was a fully functional super powerful SVT amp… Please view the pics.. But all the caps and connections are solid.. Even if you want to build a small pre-amp from another amp… This has a wire harness type jack that you can tap into.. The potentiometers are for Bias’ ing the amp power tubes.. Up for sale, a 1966 Ampeg Gemini G-12 in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Remarkably clean and original with a complete vintage tube set and stock two-button Reverb/Tremolo footswitch, the Gemini G-12 is a two-channel affair with a warm and detailed range of tones. The cleans are robust, with great headroom and sparkling, snappy sounds that were designed with the Jazz player of the day in mind and tweaked for maximum fidelity. At full volume, the amp does push into smooth tube overdrive with some sizzle and roar, and the onboard effects are particularly noteworthy. As the company that pioneered onboard Reverb in their combo amps, it’s no surprise that this Ampeg’s iteration of this effect is lush and full with plenty of splash and great decay. Not to be outdone, the tremolo has a thick, choppy quality, and both effects are easily accessed via the included original footswitch. The circuit is virtually untouched, with original transformers that date to’66 and CTS pots which also date to the 15th week of the same year. Not a solder joint is out of place and the original green Cornel Dubilier caps are all present in the preamp. The speaker is the original Jensen C12Q with a clean blue frame, original foil label on the magnet bell, and date code from the 15th week of’66. The tube chart is also intact inside the cabinet. In terms of the tube compliment, the amp is outfitted with the original Sylvania-made and Ampeg-branded 6V6s along with ostensibly the entire original preamp tube compliment. Cosmetically, this amp is a real stunner with a faceplace so polished and clean that it made it difficult to capture the details of the original white silkscreened graphics which are completely intact along with the original set of knobs. The blue diamond checker covering is also exceptionally well kept and paired with the original silver sparkle grillcloth. Even the original leather handle is still in one piece! Up for sale is a terrific classic amp by Ampeg…. Two beautiful inputs/channels of tube goodness reside within this amplifier. There is distortion on one of the channels on this amp. But it is very weak, literally. It almost sounds like it’s trying to be a tube screamer, blending the “distortion” with the original clean signal…. But definitely not the amp’s strong suit. What IS this amp’s strong suit is its “Fender Twin like” clean sounds…. With a power amp driven by 4 7027A power tubes, the clean signal from this amp has it all…… Nice round low end, a clear and glassy top end, and just enough inherent mids to give the amp an amazing clean sound! Also makes it a great platform for pedals so you have the potential for a universe of sounds that sound great! The amp has a nice 3 band parametric EQ that services both inputs, which includes a very responsive mid control that has a lot of positions, and therefore, shades of middle frequency. On top of that, there is a three position switch, ranging from 300Hz to 3000Hz, located above the parametric EQ that lets you tweak your mids even more! This amp also has a genuine spring reverb, with a cool locking feature on the back, so you can actually “turn off” the reverb with a latch on the back of the amp. According to my amp tech and his trusty side kick, the actual purpose of the lock is so that your reverb tank isn’t constantly clanging around in your car on the way to the gig! Then, when you get to your destination, you can simply unlock the latch and rock out with your reverb! Speaking of which, this amp has been serviced by one of the best, if not the best amp tech in the Charlotte metro area. It has 8 brand new capacitors values/voltage can be provided to SERIOUS potential buyers upon request. There are now 2 brand new 220k/2w resistors. Brand new sturdy speaker plug as well as a robust 3 prong plug for the (very long) power cable have also been installed on the amp. Also, 1 brand new ECC-832 preamp tube has been installed. 2 of the power tubes were fairly new and still had plenty of life on them, so the other 2 7027A’s were replaced with a matching pair, so now the amp has a matched quad of power tubes…. Thereby providing a FULL 100 watts (my amp tech believes this is conservative) of earth shaking, beautiful sounding tube power! With a clean bill of health, this big box of gorgeous sounds is now ready to rock and roll in your very own unique rig! Ampeg Reverberocket 2 Model GS 12-R vintage guitar tube amplifier. Regular sound, tremolo, and echo all work fine. 23 tall, 22 wide, 10 deep. Light cosmetic wear to edges and handle. The speaker was replaced as some point, the one inside is old but not original. This speaker is not as loud as the original. Overall good sound but not super loud. May need tune up but works in general. You would need to swap out the speaker if you want it to be louder.
