1966 Fender Twin Reverb Blackface Vintage Tube Amp 2x12 Jensen C12N, Footswitch

Up for sale, a 1966 Fender Twin Reverb in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch and Fender-branded Jensen C12N speaker pair. Stunningly clean, this Twin’s condition is all the more uncommon given its size. While Fender’s smaller combos of the era can occasionally be found in pristine shape, it’s significantly rarer to find Fender’s gig-worthy large combos (which generally saw much rougher usage) as well-kept as this example. This Twin delivers warm, articulate cleans with ample bass response, a wide-ranging and responsive EQ, and present, sparkling Fender top end. When it comes to the quintessential Blackface Fender amp for clarity, headroom, and the balanced, authoritative response of a four 6L6 driven tube amp, it’s hard to beat the Twin. The tube-driven Reverb effect has incredibly depth and splash, and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with a wide range of speeds. It’s as iconic a design as Leo Fender ever created, also very well-suited to amplifying pedal steel or electric piano in the vein of a Wurlitzer or Fender Rhodes. The circuit is extremely clean and straight, with all of the original blue molded Ajax capacitors in the preamp, a key part of the sweet, musical character of the Blackface-era preamps. The preamp features just a few new electrolytic caps, and the main filter caps have also been replaced with high quality F&Ts to guarantee decades of future trouble-free use. The power tubes are a quad of properly biased TAD 6L6GCs, and the preamp tubes are mostly modern valves as well from the likes of Tung Sol and JJ, while also including a pair of vintage Phillips 12AT7s for the reverb driver and phase inverter. All of the original Schumacher-made transformers are intact with dates spanning late 1965 to the first weeks of’66, and the original CTS pots have visible date codes from the 49th week of’65. The speakers are the original pair of Jensen C12Ns with Fender brown and gold foil labels on the ceramic magnets. The most favored speaker compliment for the Twin and also among the rarest, these speakers have clean black frames and date stamps from the 4th week of’66. These speakers easily handle the power of the Twin, and the speaker harness is original too. The tube chart is fully intact, with crisp corners and virtually unfaded paper, stamped with a bold “PC” date code which translates to March of 1966. The original black tolex is exceptionally clean, with only a few minor marks, primarily on the edges framing the grillcloth. The silver sparkle grillcloth shows only very faint darkening over the decades, and the faceplate is near mint, retaining its full compliment of original witch hat knobs. All of the original hardware is present and positively gleaming (save for some minor scuffs on the corners), including the chrome tilt back legs, nickel corners, sphinx glides, handle, and raised Fender logo on the amp’s face. The original two-button footswitch is included, along with an aftermarket cover. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1965 Fender Showman Blackface Piggyback Vintage Tube Amp 1x15 with JBL D130F

Up for sale, a 1965 Fender Showman in excellent condition, complete with the matching 1×15 “Tone Ring” piggyback speaker cabinet and original JBL D130F speaker. The amp boasts a full compliment of modern valves, including a quad of properly biased Ruby 6L6s, and this Showman has a sound that is powerful, clear, and sparkling. As Fender’s flagship amp boasting a whopping 85 watts of all tube power, the Showman is a real powerhouse for guitar, bass, or your favorite Fender Rhodes or combo organ. The low end is ample and thick, and the amp has plenty of headroom and efficient clean power until about 6-7 on the Volume knob where things start to compress and overdrive. Fresh back from our techs and ready for another half century, this Showman is dialed in for stage and studio use. One very unique and desirable feature of the Showman is the ported Tone Ring speaker cabinet. This large 1×15 enclosure was designed to deliver the clearest, most pure Fender tone with a stock JBL D130F speaker, and as such utilizes a dual baffle board design in which the speaker floats between the baffles, mounted to a metal tone ring. This elegant design makes the Showman cab work as a closed back, ported enclosure and you’ll notice greater range of your EQ controls, ample bass response and an overall sweeter, balanced tone that you simply can’t get with any other Fender cabinet. Plus it just looks so impressive! The speaker cabinet retains all of its original fiberglass sound dampening sheets and the D130F sounds incredible with a professional recone. The circuit has been thoroughly serviced and is very original, with a virtually untouched preamp save for a few small electrolytics. All of the original blue molded Ajax caps are intact with a sweet, musical tone that’s a hallmark of the Blackface sound. The original power transformer is intact, dating to the 18th week of’65, while the output transformer and choke are genuine vintage Fender transformers substituted later in the amp’s life and dating to 1970. Other important date codes include the CTS pots, with visible date codes from the 12th week of’65. The power supply has also been professionally recapped, and the tube chart is intact inside the head cabinet too, with an “OE” date stamp that translates to May of 1965. This amp sports the original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. All of the hardware is intact (with the exception of new back panel screws on the cabinet), including chrome tilt back legs, piggyback clip bars, handles, corners and raised metal Fender logos on both the head and speaker cabinet. The amp shows some nicks and scuffs around the edges of the enclosure, and the grill on the head and cabinet has aged uniformly. The original one-button footswitch to engage the Tremolo is included. Vintage'69 Fender Twin Reverb Tube Guitar Amp Jbl D120f Blackface Mod Drip Edge

This is a VINTAGE 1969 DRIP EDGE FENDER TWIN REVERB TUBE GUITAR AMP with ORIGINAL JBL D120F SPEAKERS. IT WAS RECENTLY MODDED TO BLACKFACE SPECS. It is complete and functions properly. Controls and inputs have been cleaned, no scratchy pots. Completely serviced, everything works as it should. The cabinet covering and grill show wear. This is a solid, road worthy beast. Channel 1 controls are volume, treble, middle, bass, bright switch. Channel 2 controls are volume, bass, mid, treble, reverb, speed, intensity, bright switch. Original faceplate, knobs, footswitch, grill cloth, tolex, drip edge trim, hardware, speakers, paperwork, transformers, etc. Original power cord, but replaced plug. Made in the U. The tube chart has this as a AB763 circuit but it was actually a AC568 model, as confirmed by the schematic and my amp tech. Take note of the multi voltage selector switch on the back. The factory addition of a multi-voltage power transformer makes for a very rare model indeed. But notice the selector knob is missing. Set at (American standard) 117 volt, 60 cycle. Transformer codes are as follows… 022889 606915, 022699 606-9-12, 022746 606917. Not all the potentiometer codes are legible, but here is a list of the ones I can read… 137 6834, 137 6618, 137 6913, 137 6840, 137 6916. All the codes are correct for this vintage and components are assumed to be original. The supply cap pan has service dates… The smaller nine pin tubes include 2 made in the USA, all others are imports. It has a matched quad of Sovtek 6L6GC power tubes. The speakers are original to the amplifier. They have most likely been re-coned, as they no longer have the aluminum dust caps. Aesthetically this may be a concern for some, but audibly it is an improvement; eliminates a bit of the bright JBL sizzle and provides a slightly darker blackface tone. Deep and rich, just as it should be. The’JBL’ logo on the lower right grill is a replacement. This began life with an AC568 bias section. I have owned this amp for 8-12 years. I have many nice tube amps, but play mostly acoustic guitar. I have a friend (certified Fender & Peavey amp tech) who has serviced many of my amps over the years. When I took this amp to have serviced, he suggested I blackface this amp since it was too similar to my other. It was a great idea and although this amp sounds better than the 1970, I really do not need two Twins. I hate to see it go. IT IS AN AWESOME AMPLIFIER. Arguably the best amplifier Leo Fender ever designed. This LOUD, CLASSIC, TONE MONSTER is ready to give it’s next owner joy and pleasure. (and possible hearing loss). That is a bargain. This item is heavy and will require extra time and care to package. I never use UPS. Old electronics are scratched, worn, chipped, cracked, dirty, dusty, stained, ugly, tinkered with, missing parts, etc. The exteriors have wear that includes cuts, holes, tears, scuffs, missing stitching, missing or replaced feet and knobs. In the course of servicing over the years, they typically do not have all original components. Old electronics typically hum and have scratchy controls. As a basic test I have operated this amp for at least 4 hour recently and it did not fail, smoke, blow fuses, etc. Typically easy and inexpensive to maintain, you should be aware, old electronic require maintenance. Old electronic can fail at any time. We will work through the claim together until things are right. Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Princeton Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with footswitch. Freshly serviced by our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar and boasting a full vintage tube set, the Princeton Reverb is the perfect amplifier for small club gigs and studio sessions. This classic Fender AA764 Blackface circuit delivers both well-balanced, sparkling cleans and smooth, harmonic-rich overdrive when you dime it out. The Reverb is extremely lush and the Tremolo has a nice pulse with a wide range of speeds. The circuit retains the original Schumacher output transformer (Fender’s primary transformer supplier in the era) along with a factory spec replacement power transformer. The preamp retains many of the famed blue molded Ajax tone caps (an essential part of the Blackface sound), along with a few replacement tubular caps and smaller electrolytics in the preamp. The larger multi-section can cap in the power supply has also been recently replaced to ensure trouble-free performance, and the power cable has been upgraded to the modern three-prong variety. All of the original pots are intact, dating back to’66. The tubes consist of a vintage matched pair of Magnavox-branded 6V6s with an RCA 5U4 rectifier and all vintage valves in the preamp as well. The speaker is a vintage Jensen C10Q, with a clean frame, traditional brown and gold Jensen foil sticker on the magnet, and 1967 date stamp on the edge of the frame. The speaker retains the original speaker harness as well, complete with the original speaker jack with Fender “F” cap. The tube chart is fully intact, with a “QC” date stamp from March of 1967. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, with some modest edge wear on the tolex and uniform aging of the grill, with one small tear central to the cloth. The original faceplate shows a speckling of light wear with a full compliment of witch hat knobs, and the hardware includes a fresh pair of chassis straps along with the original handle caps, sphinx glides (feet), and raised Fender logo. This vintage Blackface Princeton Reverb works exactly as it should, sounds great, and is ready for another 50 years of use. The amp comes complete with a modern two-button footswitch to engage the Reverb and Vibrato effects. 1968 Fender Vibrolux Reverb Drip Edge Vintage Tube Amp with Blackface Circuit

Up for sale, a 1968 Fender Vibrolux Reverb, in exceptional, collector-grade condition and in perfect working order, just given a clean bill of health from our techs here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar. A very early transitional example with “drip edge” aluminum trim, this Vibrolux Reverb is a variation made only for a few short months in early’68 which still retains identical circuitry and component values to its Blackface predecessor, including blue Ajax tone caps and cloth-covered wire. With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender models for its ideal size and power, performing well both on stage and in the studio with shimmering Fender cleans and smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive when you push the amp towards 10 on the volume dial. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has smooth attack and tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube reverb and punchy tremolo. This Vibrolux has been serviced to balance originality and functionality, boasting a recap of the power supply and a modern three-prong power cable. The original Schumacher-made power and output transformers are intact and date to’68, and the original choke and reverb transformer are present too. The preamp features many of the original blue Ajax caps, with a few Sprague Orange Drops and smaller electrolytics installed as needed to ensure reliable, consistent performance in-line with factory spec. The original Oxford 10 10L5 speakers sound fantastic, with clean black frames and Fender foil stickers on the ceramic magnets. The tube chart is fully intact with crisp corners, noting the AA864 circuit. The pair of Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tubes sound wonderful and are optimally biased, and the preamp tubes are a matched compliment of modern Electro Harmonix-branded valves. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth with blue stripe are stunningly clean. The grill is framed by the distinctive “drip edge” aluminum trim, and the faceplate is incredibly well-kept with all of the original witch hat knobs. The hardware includes the raised Fender logo with tail, handle caps, chassis straps, corners, and sphinx glides (feet). A vintage Fender two-button footswitch is included, along with an amp cover from the 1970s. Check out our shop “Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, ” and please let us know if we can answer any questions! 1967 Fender Vibro Champ Vintage Blackface Tube Amp Class A, Serviced & Retubed

Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Vibro Champ, freshly serviced and retubed. This little Blackface-era Fender wonder delivers five watts of pure Class A tube tone. A gutsy amp with the original alnico 8 speaker, this Vibro Champ has just the right amount of glassy, sparkling clean tone before pushing into smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive at about 4 on the Volume knob. Dynamic, responsive, and absolutely huge sounding when you put a microphone in front of it, it’s hard to beat the Vibro Champ for pure simplicity and great tone. And of course, Fender’s lush sounding tremolo circuit has a strong pulse and wide range of speeds, perfect for subtle shifts in volume or machine gun chop. The circuit has been freshly and thoroughly serviced, with new Sprague Orange Drop caps in the preamp and a few smaller Sprague electrolytics as well. The resistors are a combination of original carbon comps and low-noise modern metal films, and the multi-section can cap in the power supply is also new, along with a new three-prong power cable. All work was done with the aim of providing a roadworthy, studio-ready Vibro Champ with the best possible signal-to-noise ratio and tonal response. The stock Schumacher-made power transformer is intact, dating to the 46th week of’66, while the output transformer is a properly spec’d replacement. The pots are mostly original, with visible date codes from the 29th week of’66. The tube chart is present with a clear “QD” code which translates to April of 1967, rounding out the applicable dates. The tube compliment includes a new JJ 6V6 power tube and 5Y3 rectifier, as well as a couple Mullard 12AX7s. The speaker is the original Fender-branded Oxford 8 with a clean blue Fender foil label on the alnico magnet. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, along with both original back panels. The original faceplate shows some minor pitting and is complete with a full compliment of stock witch hat knobs. The hardware includes modern handle caps and chassis straps, while the sphinx glides (feet) and raised Fender logo on the grill are original. Fully serviced in-house here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar, this Vibro Champ is an ideal example of Blackface tone, ready for stage and studio use. Up for sale, a 1966 Fender Vibrolux Reverb in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original two-button footswitch. With good reason, the Vibrolux is one of the most desirable Fender Blackface models for its ideal size and power, performing well both on stage and in the studio with shimmering Fender cleans and smooth, lightly compressed tube overdrive when you push the amp towards 10 on the volume dial. Clean and sweet up til about 5 on the volume knob (with a perceived volume that’s loud enough to keep up with an aggressive drummer), the Vibrolux has smooth attack and tube rectifier sag, not to mention lush tube reverb and punchy tremolo. The circuit is stunningly straight, save for new electrolytic caps in the preamp and power amp, cleanly sleeved in their original Minimite wrappers. The original Schumacher transformers all date to 1966, and the preamp features a full compliment of original blue molded Ajax caps, a key ingredient in the sweet, musical character of Fender’s Blackface circuits. All of the original CTS pots are intact too, dating to’66. The Oxford 10 speakers are a pair of vintage drivers with clean black frames and blue foil Fender stickers, both dating a few years later than the amp but otherwise identical to the stock speakers. The tube chart is intact, and strangely oriented upside down, with a PH date stamp which translates to August of 1966. The pair of Tung Sol 5881 (6L6) power tubes are optimally biased, and the preamp tubes are all modern valves from the likes of Electro Harmonix and Sovtek. The original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth are intact, and the hardware includes the full compliment of witch hat knobs, raised logo, handle caps, chassis straps, corners, and sphinx glides (feet). The upper back panel is original, and the lower panel is a vintage-spec replacement. The original two-button footswitch is included.
